Reputation Basics in TBC Anniversary

In TBC Anniversary, reputation is your relationship system with major factions, and it directly controls how fast you unlock endgame content. Reputation can grant you:

  • Heroic dungeon access keys (and sometimes Heroic eligibility itself)

  • pre-raid and long-lasting gear

  • profession recipes and patterns (often mandatory for best-in-slot enchants/crafts)

  • vendor perks, discounts, consumables, bags

  • mounts, pets, tabards, and quality-of-life services (repairs, special vendors)

Where to check it:

  • Open Character (default C) → Reputation tab.

  • Some factions only appear after you first interact with them.

pencil2 emoji Efficiency tip: some turn-ins produce items better saved until after Honored to maximize total gains.

  • do Cenarion quests

  • turn in higher-value samples

Revered → Exalted

  • Heroic Slave Pens/Underbog/Steamvault

  • finish remaining quest hubs and turn-ins

Lower City

Auchindoun Heroics + extremely useful recipes.

Farming Plan

Neutral → Honored

  • feather turn-ins as a repeatable boost

Honored → Revered

  • Shattrath and Sha’tar questlines

Honored → Exalted

  • keep running the Tempest Keep dungeons

Keepers of Time

One of the clearest reputations: run the two Caverns of Time dungeons.

Neutral → Exalted

  • complete the Caverns of Time intro chain

  • run Old Hillsbrad + Black Morass (Normal then Heroic)

  • optimize runs for speed: rep/hour is the main metric

Raid Reputations

Raid reputations often unlock unique vendors, upgrades, and class-defining rewards.

The Violet Eye

  • gained primarily inside Karazhan

  • unlocks ring progression, repair/vendor access, and select recipes depending on phase

Ashtongue Deathsworn

  • gained in Black Temple

  • rewards include rare patterns and class items at top standing

Shattered Sun Offensive

  • Isle of Quel’Danas daily quest hub

  • Magisters’ Terrace contributes when available

  • huge selection of patterns, gems, and endgame utility rewards

The Scale of the Sands

  • gained in Hyjal Summit

  • used for ring upgrade progression and select vendor rewards

Zone Reputations

Zone reputations are where you chase mounts, daily hubs, and specialized profession rewards.

Kurenai / The Mag’har

  • Nagrand-based faction pair (Alliance/Horde)

  • bead turn-ins are a major speed lever

  • Exalted unlocks multiple Talbuk mounts + tabard

Netherwing

  • long-term daily reputation grind

  • Netherwing Egg turn-ins massively accelerate progress

  • Exalted grants Netherwing Drake mounts

Ogri’la

  • flying recommended/required

  • daily quests + Apexis-based rewards

  • tabard and unique trinkets/gear

The Aldor vs The Scryers

  • mutually exclusive progression path for most players

  • shoulder enchants, recipes, and gear differ

  • choose based on your class/role/professions

Sha’tari Skyguard

  • Terokkar + Blade’s Edge hubs

  • daily quests and targeted kills

  • Nether Ray mounts + tabard + pet

Sporeggar

  • Zangarmarsh “sporeling” faction

  • unique cooking-related rewards, plus tabard/pet

  • requires structured repeatable farming to avoid wasting time

The Consortium

  • Mana-Tombs (Normal/Heroic) + multiple turn-ins

  • heavy profession payoff (enchanting, jewelcrafting patterns, etc.)

  • Exalted includes strong utility gear and tabard

Tranquillien

  • Horde-only in Ghostlands

  • quest-driven rep path with useful early rewards

Recommended Priority Order

If your goal is Heroics + early raids, focus like this:

  1. Honor Hold / Thrallmar

  2. Cenarion Expedition

  3. Lower City

  4. The Sha’tar

  5. Keepers of Time

  6. The Violet Eye (if you raid Karazhan weekly)

  7. Zone factions based on mounts/professions goals

Common Pitfalls

  • Farming the wrong difficulty (Normal vs Heroic) at the wrong time

  • Turning in valuable items too early (losing efficiency)

  • Splitting focus across too many factions at once

  • Picking Aldor/Scryers without checking your class/profession needs

Conclusion

Reputation in TBC Anniversary is a core progression system, not a side activity. Dungeon reputations unlock Heroics and keys, raid reputations grant unique upgrades, and zone reputations deliver mounts and profession power. Build a priority plan, track rep thresholds, and your path into endgame becomes faster, cleaner, and far less grindy.
