Best Aion 2 Classes: PvE, PvP, Solo and Beginner Picks

What to know before you pick a class

Global Aion 2 has eight classes: Gladiator, Templar, Assassin, Ranger, Sorcerer, Spiritmaster, Cleric and Chanter. The game launched on October 5, 2026, it is free to play on PC, and the level cap at launch is 45. Your class sets more than your damage, it also sets your role in a party, so treat a tier list as a compass and not a verdict.

Below are two rankings: one for PvE damage and one for PvP results. Both are built on Korean and Taiwanese data from late September 2026. The order on Global servers may differ because of different scaling, different patches and different class popularity. Treat the rankings as a snapshot of one moment.

The key point: according to player reports, the gap between classes is small, and balance changes regularly. Pick the class that matches your playstyle and use the ranking as a hint.

How the ranking is built

The PvE part relies on combat logs from NotMeter. Classes are compared at the P75 threshold, meaning the result below which 75% of recorded runs fall, and players are grouped by Combat Power so strong gear does not pass for class strength.

A single parse on a training dummy is not the main yardstick here. A dummy has no mechanics, movement or downtime, so it shows a class's ceiling under ideal conditions. In dungeons and raids it is different: short fights reward burst, long fights test consistency, and melee classes lose damage when mechanics break their positioning.

The PvP part uses Questlog leaderboards, which cover Solo Arena, Team Arena and Abyss; results are averaged across the three modes. Gear, Combat Power, player skill and class popularity all affect the numbers, which makes the PvP list more volatile than the PvE one.

The tiers read simply. S means a class is usually among the top damage dealers. A deals high damage with fewer first places. B depends on the fight and the current balance. C trails slightly but stays fully viable. There are no D or F tiers.

PvE class tier list

The ranking below reflects damage in PvE content, dungeons and raids included. Tanks and supports hit hard in Aion 2, so all eight classes are compared and not only the pure damage dealers.

B

C

Assassin leads short fights when the party backs it up. Its damage climbs sharply if you stay behind the target and use the back-attack bonus. The price is demand: lose your position and damage drops more than on other classes.

Sorcerer is the top ranged damage dealer in this ranking when a fight does not force constant movement. Its damage stands out most on stationary bosses.

Spiritmaster looks modest on a dummy but performs better in dungeons and raids. Ranger is valued for consistency: it sustains damage longer than most, which shows in the long fights of late content.

Gladiator sits at B in this ranking because it splits its kit between damage and tanking. Chanter deals decent damage, but it is prized first of all for party buffs.

Templar and Cleric close the list, and the reason is their roles. Templar is the main tank and Cleric is the only dedicated healer, so personal damage comes second for both.

Community rankings disagree a lot: many lists put Gladiator in S and Cleric and Templar in A. That is understandable: balance shifts, and the data is collected on different servers and with different methods.

PvP class tier list

The top of the PvP table looks different. The list is built from averaged Solo Arena, Team Arena and Abyss results.

  • S: Gladiator, Assassin

  • A: Templar, Cleric, Sorcerer

  • B: Chanter, Ranger, Spiritmaster

Gladiator combines damage, durability, mobility and active blocking. It needs no special team setup, so it works in a wide range of situations. Assassin holds S on burst and mobility: it is best suited to fights that hinge on removing one target quickly.

Templar is valuable in organized PvP for durability and control. It is less explosive than the S-tier classes but harder to remove. Cleric wins through healing and recovery, which in coordinated fights often matters more than personal damage. Sorcerer applies pressure from range and bursts from a safe distance.

Chanter opens up with good teamwork: its buffs work at full strength when allies can use them. Ranger gives steady ranged pressure but has fewer fight-changing tools. Spiritmaster results vary a lot by mode, so its average placement sits below its best results.

Best class for solo play

Solo players are most often pointed to Gladiator. It hits hard, takes hits like a tank, blocks, moves fast and heals through life-leech effects. When there is no tank or healer around, that kit forgives mistakes.

Do not overthink it, though. Aion 2 is comfortable for solo play: quests, exploration, collectibles and main progression are open to any class. Other guides also recommend Ranger and Cleric for solo, so personal taste decides a lot here.

Best class for beginners

For a first character, Templar is the pick people name most. It has high durability, shields, active block, good mobility and a simple damage cycle. That lets you focus on boss mechanics instead of a complicated rotation.

In a party, Templar takes the tank role, which means holding the attention of bosses and enemies while allies deal damage.

Gladiator is also called a comfortable start, although its difficulty is rated differently from guide to guide. To learn the game without stress, begin with Templar or Gladiator and move to something trickier later.

Many players consider Assassin the most demanding class. It needs back attacks, buff management and constant positional uptime, so every mistake costs damage. Pick it as a first character only if you enjoy precise positioning work.

Party roles and what each class brings

Aion 2 uses the familiar trinity of tank, damage and support. The difference is that tanks and support classes deal noticeable damage and are not limited to one function.

  • Templar is the main party tank.

  • Cleric is the only dedicated healer, so it is never short of a party.

  • Chanter brings buffs for allies and respectable personal damage.

The other classes handle damage: Assassin and Gladiator up close, Sorcerer, Ranger and Spiritmaster at range or in a mixed style. In group content the role often matters more than a tier list line, since every team needs a good tank or healer.

How to choose a class and not regret it

Balance in the game changes regularly. Korean servers got class patches in August and September, and Global servers receive updates on their own schedule. Today's S tier may shift in a couple of patches, and rerolling to chase a new ranking almost always loses to playing a class you know.

A practical order works well. Decide what suits you: striking from range, standing in the thick of it or supporting the team. Then pick the class from that group whose controls feel comfortable. If you are unsure, create a few characters and play the early levels: the level 45 cap is far away, and the feel of combat shows quickly.

One last point: the rankings show an average picture, not yours. A player with good positioning and knowledge of mechanics will usually outperform an average player on an S-tier class.
