Apex Legends character tier list: all 28 Legends and Ranked choices

Choosing an Apex Legends character is more useful when tied to a repeatable squad task than a promise of easy wins. Ordinary Ranked play rewards accessible team value, ways to recover from a poor exchange and clear cooperation with two teammates.

The following editorial tier list covers all 28 Legends for Core after Marked Midseason. It assesses practical execution in an ordinary squad, rather than professional statistics or guaranteed results. A lower placement means a narrower plan or additional execution demands.

Bloodhound, Loba, Rampart and Conduit updates affect the order, alongside restrictions on Axle. This ranking does not carry an early Season 29 arrangement into a different ruleset. Choose the role your team lacks, then compare candidates within it.

Criteria and the complete tier list

Priority goes to a tool that helps several players and preserves options after the first mistake. A clear disengagement, squad recovery, information and access to a position add value. A complicated ability can be extremely strong while demanding more practice and coordination.

Tier

Legends

How to read the assessment

S

Bangalore, Lifeline, Conduit, Bloodhound, Loba

Accessible starting points for a repeatable squad plan

A

Alter, Pathfinder, Valkyrie, Ash, Sparrow, Rampart, Newcastle, Gibraltar

Strong tools for a task agreed beforehand

B

Horizon, Wraith, Octane, Revenant, Vantage, Catalyst, Fuse, Wattson, Caustic

Useful with the right route, distance or preparation

C

Axle, Ballistic, Mad Maggie, Crypto, Mirage, Seer

More demanding execution in an ordinary uncoordinated group

There is no unplayable tier here. If you understand your tool and discuss actions with teammates, a familiar Legend can contribute more than an unfamiliar S pick. The table narrows your learning choices rather than banning characters.

S: accessible value across most plans

Bangalore

Smoke changes visibility along an approach, while Rolling Thunder pressures an area. Choose Bangalore if you can explain which firing line you intend to block. Smoke between a teammate and their target can obstruct your own squad; agree on the crossing before blocking vision.

Lifeline

Combat Medic lets D.O.C. revive a teammate while Lifeline continues acting. Her value increases when the player can help while watching an approach. Avoid automatically starting recovery in an exposed position: first assess who covers the ally and where the action will finish.

D.O.C. Heal Drone follows you or an ally and heals nearby teammates. D.O.C. Halo blocks bullets and accelerates healing inside, including for enemies. Control the recovery space: cover against distant fire does not mean an opponent cannot enter.

Conduit

Radiant Transfer supports the squad with temporary shields. After Marked Midseason, Energy Barricade deploys faster and lets you change the orientation of its jammer line. Conduit suits a group that wants to maintain contact together; temporary support needs shared tempo rather than a solo pursuit around several corners.

Bloodhound

Bloodhound’s Allfather’s Cloak area in the Firing Range

An official Marked screenshot shows Bloodhound’s new ability. It illustrates the kit rather than statistical character strength.

Scanning helps turn an uncertain contact into a shared target. The new Allfather's Cloak adds squad cloaking; seasonal and midseason changes make this a different plan from the old Beast of the Hunt. Use information to choose a route and attack timing, rather than merely running straight toward a marker.

Loba

Black Market Boutique gives teammates access to nearby loot, while her bracelet provides personal movement. Marked reduced the ultimate cooldown from 150 to 120 seconds. Loba is especially useful for a repeatable supply plan: discuss where the team will restock and which direction it will occupy afterwards.

A: strong tools for a specific job

Alter

Void Passage offers routes through a surface, while Void Nexus gives the squad a return point. Choose Alter when teammates will remember the disengagement option prepared earlier. Check that allies know where to retreat before using an additional route for a risky attack.

Pathfinder

Grappling Hook solves personal movement; Zipline Gun helps the group take another route. The choice is strongest when the squad actually uses its access to a position. Avoid simply announcing that you have already reached a roof: identify the route before contact begins.

Valkyrie

Skyward Dive supports squad movement. Set a gathering point and check readiness before starting the crossing. Marked reduced the ultimate's base height by 15%; an old route depending on its previous height margin needs reassessment.

Missile Swarm damages and disrupts opponents. Use it to support a shared exchange rather than replace squad gunfire. Check that teammates can use the opening after the volley.

Ash

Arc Snare restricts a target, while Phase Breach creates a one-way crossing. Ash suits a player who assesses the exit beforehand. Since Overclocked, her dash recovers in 10 seconds. Do not treat the portal as an automatic return option: the destination must preserve another route.

Sparrow

Tracker Dart helps check space, while Double Jump expands personal movement options. Sparrow suits someone who wants to combine observation with active angle changes. Scout before the squad enters, then return to shooting: collecting information without a shared follow-up decision provides less value.

Stinger Bolt produces a series of damaging pulses. Its slow affects all players, including Sparrow: account for your own route and teammate movement when choosing where to use it.

Rampart

Amped Cover prepares a firing line, and Sheila adds pressure. Marked accelerated wall deployment and improved minigun movement. Rampart receives a higher placement here specifically for a prepared squad plan: choose an angle teammates actually intend to hold and preserve the option to change it.

The wall amplifies shots through its upper section and protects against incoming fire. Agree where teammates stand relative to cover so the prepared line supports shooting rather than obstructing an angle change.

Newcastle

Mobile Shield provides moving cover, while his passive lets him move an ally during a revive. Newcastle suits a player who watches the whole group and chooses a rescue direction carefully. Protection is judged by where the ally ends up, rather than simply starting the revive.

Castle Wall lets you leap to an ally or targeted area and establish fortified cover. Choose the next direction beforehand so a rescue does not end in a stationary hold without an exit.

Gibraltar

Dome of Protection creates an opportunity for a shared action, and Gun Shield helps frontal exchanges. Aftershock made the dome available more often by reducing its base cooldown from 17 to 13 seconds. Give each use a job: revive, recovery, crossing or coordinated close combat. The dome does not keep opponents outside.

Defensive Bombardment calls a mortar strike onto a marked position. Agree which space it should deny: covering a revive and preparing your own attack require different placements. Avoid throwing the marker onto the squad’s only intended continuation route.

B: positioning and preparation unlock their value

Horizon

Gravity Lift helps work with height, while Black Hole threatens clustered opponents. Choose Horizon for clear access to the level of space you need. First check who will follow up alongside you; an isolated effect without squad fire may not create the intended advantage.

Wraith

Into the Void supports personal repositioning, while Dimensional Rift connects route endpoints. Wraith helps a player who prepares disengagement beforehand. Avoid devoting the whole plan to repairing an already lost exchange: the route should exist before two teammates are knocked.

Octane

Stim and Launch Pad provide movement tempo, but the squad's pace is set by whoever trails furthest behind. Choose Octane if you use speed to prepare a shared angle rather than an isolated fight. Call the destination before jumping and check whether allies can continue the attack.

Stim costs health. Extra speed before a fight must justify that cost; avoid entering a mandatory exchange with reduced health for a crossing you could have prepared earlier.

Revenant

Shadow Pounce and Forged Shadows support aggressive contact. Revenant requires careful target selection: pursuit helps when the squad has already created an advantage. Do not reuse old Death Totem advice. Before closing distance, decide what you will do if the first opponent survives.

Assassin’s Instinct highlights nearby visible enemies with low health; it does not find every weak opponent through walls. Knockdowns refresh shadows and the tactical. Continue after a confirmed result rather than treating that refresh as a resource already earned.

Vantage

Sniper's Mark supports ranged pressure, and Echo Relocation helps change position. Choose Vantage when the squad will use a successful hit and close distance together. A distant angle that prevents helping teammates in their immediate fight can split the group.

Spotter’s Lens supports scouting through the eyepiece and estimating bullet drop. Echo must remain in sight to launch your movement. Consider both tools together: observation is more useful from a position you can safely leave.

Catalyst

Her doors, spikes and Dark Veil help organise space. After Marked Midseason, allies are no longer slowed or blinded when crossing the wall; Catalyst herself is no longer immune to another Catalyst's abilities. Prepare entrances and a crossing, then explain how teammates should use the position.

Fuse

Knuckle Cluster and the reworked Motherlode apply explosive pressure. Marked Midseason incorporated Knuckle Jump into the base kit. Fuse suits a squad that can simultaneously maintain fire and force an opponent to change cover. Avoid treating the old ultimate's shape as a description of its present use.

Wattson

Electric fences and Interception Pylon support a prepared hold. Choose Wattson if you will study entrances in advance and preserve usable firing lines for allies. Avoid a lengthy setup where the squad intends to leave: preparation derives its value from the next route.

Interception Pylon intercepts incoming grenades and repairs shields. Place it around the squad’s plan: protecting a position helps when allies can remain nearby and actually use the recovery.

Caustic

Gas tools suit control of confined space. Caustic helps a composition that chooses its stopping points and does not abandon preparation without a reason. Coordinate entrances, observation and retreat; traps do not remove the need to watch an enemy approach yourself.

Nox Vision helps see enemies in gas. It supports observation within prepared space rather than proving every passage is sealed: keep checking flanks and teammate positions.

C: demand more precise shared execution

Axle

Nitro Gate and Kickstart provide active engagement options, but successive restrictions require more careful timing. Marked made her ultimate affect allies as well, while Midseason increased its base cooldown. This choice suits someone willing to practise movement separately and account for teammate positions.

Drift improves slide control, Nitro Gate launches a high-speed slide and Kickstart sends an enemy-seeking drone. Practise controlling the end of your movement first, then add the drone to an agreed squad entry.

Ballistic

Whistler pressures enemy weapon use, while Tempest supports the group's armed engagement. Ballistic helps more in a coordinated attack than when teammates constantly shoot different targets. Call the shared entry timing and preserve cover in case the enemy survives the first exchange.

Mad Maggie

Riot Drill helps contest cover; Wrecking Ball adds tempo and pressure. Maggie suits someone who converts an opponent's forced movement into shared gunfire. Choose the flank first: pressure against one position does not mean the neighbouring passage is already safe.

Crypto

Surveillance Drone provides another view, and EMP helps prepare contact. The execution demand is keeping up with squad movement while operating the drone. Agree which question you are checking and when you return to your weapon, or allies may start fighting without you.

Mirage

Psyche Out and Life of the Party create opportunities through deception. The effect depends on enemy decisions, making Mirage harder to incorporate into a repeatable shared plan. Use distraction for a specific crossing or angle, then assess whether it gave the team time to act.

Seer

Heart Seeker and Exhibit support finding and observing contacts. Seer requires precise placement and timing. Marked Midseason removed the turn slow from his tactical. An old assessment of its control strength cannot be carried forward without accounting for that change.

Beginner choices and squad composition

For an initial support role, compare Lifeline and Loba: the former teaches attention to recovery, the latter to supplies and the next rotation. Gibraltar helps teach assigning a defensive ability a purpose, but requires discipline at close range.

Bloodhound suits the habit of gathering information before deciding to attack. Bangalore helps teach control of visibility along an approach. These five candidates solve different problems: choose one and practise it across several sessions instead of switching characters after every loss.

When assembling a squad, check three functions: how you gather information, how you reach a required position and how you recover after a trade. A group need not contain three S choices. For example, a familiar A-tier movement tool may solve a missing route better than another support pick.

Questions about the ranking

The best Ranked choice depends on communication, the map and the group's weakest function. S here means an accessible foundation for a plan; A means strong value for an agreed task. That is a difference in requirements rather than a numerical damage or win-rate gap.

Lower tiers can win: the table does not measure an individual player's skill. Reconsider your choice after a significant kit change or a recurring match problem. If disengagement repeatedly fails, repair the route and composition rather than simply searching for another name in the top row.
