How to Get RP in League of Legends Safely

RP is League of Legends' premium currency. The most predictable way to add it is an official League store purchase or a compatible gift card. Ordinary matches do not award RP for wins, kills or leveling up.

Checked October 22, 2026, for ordinary PC League of Legends. Options without a direct RP purchase exist, but are limited: Riot accepts original art for a small purchase shortfall, while Microsoft Rewards has a public LoL card listing subject to regional conditions. Neither is a permanent in-game currency farm or a guarantee for every player.

Buy RP through the official store

Launch League from Riot Client, open the League store and select Purchase RP. Check the account, then choose a displayed bundle and an available payment method. Before confirming, review the RP amount, final monetary total and payment currency. Retain the transaction confirmation.

Riot documents bank cards, PayPal and Boku mobile payments. These are supported methods, not a promise of availability in every country: use the options actually shown in your store. Boku depends on server, country and carrier; country support does not establish support on every server. Treat regional payment providers the same way, checking the current checkout rather than an old tutorial.

There is no universal price table here. Bundles, bonus RP and payment methods can differ. Compare the final total, including any displayed taxes or fees, rather than only the headline amount on the first screen. Do not substitute a billing country or change region to obtain another market's price.

If a payment stalls or money is taken without RP, check its status and contact official Support with the transaction ID. Repeated purchases before establishing what happened can produce multiple charges. Do not give an intermediary account access to repair a payment.

Gift cards and prepaid codes

Physical and digital cards let you fund currency without entering bank-card details directly in League. Riot lists major retailers and Amazon for certain markets, for example. A familiar storefront name is not enough: verify the actual seller, region and product terms. Keep the card and receipt, or the purchase email and payment confirmation for a digital product.

The card must match the server and currency. Riot's examples place US and Canadian cards on NA, and Australian and New Zealand cards on OCE; this is not a complete compatibility map. Do not assume NA, EUW and EUNE cards are interchangeable. Some cash products support several Riot games, while others have narrower compatibility: confirm that your particular card supports League funding.

The documented prepaid RP card route is Store > Purchase RP > Prepaid Cards, followed by the PIN without spaces and Submit. Riot's general guide also describes https://shop.riotgames.com/redeem for cash codes, but the League Codes FAQ retains client-only wording for prepaid cards. Follow the packaging and in-client payment route when these instructions conflict; clarify uncertainty with Support before paying.

For a supported cash code offering a web game selector, choose League and verify the amount before confirming. One code is consumed entirely in one game and account. Choose an official purchase, compatible card or limited no-purchase opportunity. None requires giving an intermediary your password.

What can you actually get without buying RP?

Art for In-Game Currency

Riot's program helps with a small shortfall for desired content. Submit original work through League Support using Submit Art to Gamer Gallery. The exact limit is undisclosed. Other people's work and AI-generated art are not accepted; Riot suggests waiting at least a few months between requests. This is limited Support assistance, not payment for every drawing.

Microsoft Rewards

On the check date, Microsoft's official public catalog lists a League of Legends Gift Card for points. It is therefore inaccurate to dismiss the entire route as fictitious. However, the catalog depends on country, stock and account eligibility; a public product page does not establish that you can redeem it personally. Check your own Rewards catalog, points cost and card region first.

Use only Microsoft's permitted activities and redemption rules. Do not estimate a guaranteed completion time from somebody else's daily points income or access another country's catalog through a VPN. This exchanges external program points for a card rather than rewarding League matches.

Promotions, esports and retired programs

No verified permanent public free-RP code was found in the official materials checked. A genuine one-off offer needs an organizer, dates, region rules and an explicit RP reward. A skin, icon, capsule or viewing reward does not by itself mean RP.

The old Prime Gaming capsule program ended in March 2024. No new confirmation of its return was found by the check date, so do not buy a subscription expecting the former monthly capsule. Likewise, Twitch Drops and LoL Esports rewards should not be counted as RP sources without the terms of a specific current campaign. No universal guaranteed free giveaway was established among the offers checked.

RP is separate from other currencies

No current standard mechanism for converting Blue Essence or Mythic Essence into RP was found in the checked rules. Obtaining a champion or cosmetic for free may avoid a purchase, but it does not credit premium currency.

Spend less on the content you actually want

RP can buy many skins, chromas, champions, icons, emotes, bundles and paid passes. Individual products or services, including offered account transfers, have their own conditions. Check the currency on the product listing: Mythic inventory and specialized cosmetic systems are not automatically direct RP purchases. Changing Riot ID itself does not require buying RP.

Choose the desired item before choosing a top-up. If a larger bundle displays more bonus RP, compare the complete price and the amount you need: an unused balance does not make an unnecessary purchase worthwhile. Old double-bonus announcements are not permanent offers; no current general promotion of that kind was confirmed in this check.

Your Shop provides personalized discounts when it is open. If you do not own the champion, an offer can include that champion's price: unlocking it with Blue Essence reduces the RP required. Also check current ordinary store sales. A discount system does not guarantee that your desired skin will appear in the next rotation.

Judge a pass by the rewards you want and the time needed to progress; judge a bundle by its useful components. Buying a named skin gives a defined result, while random loot does not guarantee that skin. Free pass levels or earned items are not an RP rebate unless the reward terms explicitly say so.

Choose the goal, check offers and terms, then decide the top-up. Evaluate bundles and passes by the contents useful to you.

Can you give RP to a friend?

RP gifting is a separate paid transaction, not a transfer of your existing balance. Riot's general rules require the same server, no bans and at least seven days as friends, or 14 in Turkey and Brazil. Sending RP normally requires level 15, with limits of five sent and five received per 24 hours. Brazil has separate requirements: both accounts level 32, with two RP gifts per day in each direction.

Skins and champions can also be sent through gifting, but have different limits and regional restrictions; Support specifically lists content gifting as unavailable in Brazil. Check the current system status and recipient in the client before paying. An incorrect gift cannot be reversed. A compatible unused gift card is another option if its terms suit your friend.

Refunds: a short check before using a purchase

Eligible unused content within 14 days does not require a refund token. A token can cover eligible purchases up to 90 days old, including used content. The cap is three tokens, with one restored annually up to that cap. Refunds return the original amount and currency, not the item's current price. Passes, gifts, bundles and chests are excluded. Refunding an RP top-up is a separate Support process; a token is not a way to cash out your balance.

Account safety comes before cheap RP

Generators, downloadable RP tools, extensions and surveys collecting your password are not official top-ups. Receiving a gift does not require giving its sender your password or verification code. Verify a social giveaway against Riot's or an authorized partner's announcement rather than a familiar logo.

Avoid unknown sellers requesting access to your account. Riot recommends checking the official credential-entry address, authenticate.riotgames.com, protecting email and enabling multi-factor authentication. For a suspicious transaction, contact Support directly and keep the receipt and payment ID.

Verify the route, regional terms and final confirmation. Generators and credential requests do not replace an official offer.
