Destiny 2 Equilibrium Dungeon Guide and Full Walkthrough

Destiny 2 Equilibrium Dungeon Guide
Equilibrium is the eleventh dungeon in Destiny 2 and the flagship PvE activity of the Renegades expansion. Unlike earlier dungeons that focused purely on survivability or raw DPS checks, Equilibrium is built around resource management, positional control, and layered mechanics tied to Shadow energy.
This dungeon challenges players to constantly balance aggression and restraint. Rushing mechanics without managing Shadow power leads to wipes, while overly defensive play causes arena saturation and loss of tempo. Equilibrium rewards teams that understand pacing, role distribution, and mechanical execution.
This guide covers everything you need to know: how to unlock the dungeon, Contest Mode rules, full walkthrough, boss mechanics, loot tables, collectibles, and solo viability.

How to Start the Equilibrium Dungeon in Destiny 2
Equilibrium is launched directly from the Director once unlocked. The activity is located on Venus and becomes permanently available after completing a short prerequisite quest.
Entry Requirements
Ownership of the Renegades expansion
Recommended Power Level: 370
Completion of the quest “Between Paths”, obtained from Honor in the Tarsis Cantina
The quest becomes available after reaching Step 5 of the main Renegades campaign
To unlock the dungeon, progressing to Step 2 of the campaign is sufficient
Once unlocked, Equilibrium can be launched at any time and supports repeat runs without weekly lockouts.
Equilibrium Dungeon Contest Mode Requirements and Rules

Contest Mode is active for 48 hours after the dungeon’s release and represents the hardest version of Equilibrium.
Contest Mode Rewards
Guaranteed drop of the Exotic crossbow Heirloom
Exclusive emblem Dredgen’s Descent
Contest Mode Restrictions
Multiple Exotic weapons, mods, and Artifact perks are disabled
NotSwap rule is active — loadouts cannot be changed mid-run
Power Level scaling is enforced per player
Players below 370 take drastically increased damage
For World First eligibility, at least one fireteam member must stream the run with the official overlay enabled.
Equilibrium Dungeon Walkthrough
The dungeon opens aboard an Imperium assault platform. After rallying, players must eliminate Imperium forces while a five-minute enrage timer begins counting down.
The opening section introduces the dungeon’s defining mechanic: Shadow Nodes and Shadow Power tiers.
Shadow Power Basics
Players collect Shadow Nodes scattered across the arena
Collecting 7 nodes grants the Shadow Initiate state
Shadow abilities temporarily replace grenade abilities
Shield generators must be used to strip defenses from elite enemies
This phase exists to train players on Shadow resource flow, which becomes critical in later encounters.
Boss Encounter 1: Harrow, The Dredgen Apprentice
Harrow serves as the dungeon’s mechanical foundation. Every core concept used later is introduced here under pressure.
The fight takes place in a multi-tiered arena with side chambers and vertical threats. Harrow teleports frequently, launches explosive attacks, and punishes poor positioning.
Shield Removal and Node Activation
Harrow is protected by a permanent immunity shield
To break it:
Players must reach Shadow Apprentice tier
Activate multiple Shadow Nodes across the arena
Harrow’s explosive attacks can interrupt node activation if positioning is sloppy
Health Phases
75%
50%
25%
Each phase follows the same loop:
Arena clear
Shadow power rebuilding
Node activation
Damage window
Environmental Interaction
During mid-phases, electrified pylons activate. If Harrow strikes a charged pylon, he becomes briefly destabilized, creating a safer DPS window.
Final Phase
At 25% health, Harrow attempts to escape. Players pursue him to the lower deck, where a single, high-pressure DPS phase begins. Failure to kill Harrow during this window results in an immediate wipe.
Traversal Section: Malphas Contemptus
After Harrow’s defeat, players board a secondary Imperium vessel. This section mixes combat and traversal with constant enemy pressure.
Heavy Behemoth Fortis units dominate this segment
Clearing zones before jumping is strongly recommended
Vertical navigation hides multiple ambush spawns
Mistakes here are survivable but heavily punish tempo and ammo economy.
Boss Encounter 2: Dredgen Sere
The final encounter takes place in a circular arena suspended over a void storm. Sere uses Arc-based attacks, forced teleportation, and dual-realm mechanics.
Core Mechanics
Sere periodically targets a player with a lethal Arc beam
The beam can be interrupted by shooting Sere’s arms
Dark Pull forcibly shifts players between realms
Shadow Power Tiers
Initiate
Apprentice
Master
Shadow tier persists between realm transitions.
Objectives in the Normal Realm
Destroy five Shadow Orbs behind the boss
For each orb:
Interrupt a Shadow Disciple with a Shadow ability
Kill the enemy to refresh Shadow
Destroy the orb
Objectives in the Shadow Realm
Destroy another set of five orbs
Two approaches:
Subjugation (safer)
Elimination (faster but increases boss health)
Damage Phase
Activates only after all orbs are destroyed
Arena floods with Arc lightning
Safe zones appear along the perimeter
Lightning can be temporarily disabled using Shadow devices at Apprentice tier
The fight repeats in cycles until Sere is defeated.
Destiny 2 Equilibrium Secret Chests and Hidden Quests
At launch, full secret locations were undiscovered. Based on prior dungeon patterns, Equilibrium includes:

The set is among the most visually distinct dungeon armor collections released to date.
F.A.Q.
How hard is the Equilibrium dungeon?
Moderate to high difficulty. Contest Mode is extremely punishing, while normal mode becomes manageable with experience.
How do I start the Equilibrium dungeon?
Complete the required Renegades questline and launch it from Venus via the Director.
Can I beat the Equilibrium dungeon solo?
Yes, but the mechanics and enemy density make solo runs very demanding.
