The Division 2 Cherry Blossom Event: Recap and Rewards
What the Event Was and Why It Mattered
The Cherry Blossom Event ran in The Division 2 from April 21 to May 12, 2026, as part of Title Update Y8S1.1. It was a spring activity for the open world of Washington, D.C.: Kitsunebi ambushes, Ronin fights, 40 corrupted cherry blossoms to restore, and its own reward track. The event is closed now, with data current as of 10/17/2026, so this guide works as a reference: what it offered, how it worked, and what carries over to other activities.
Players needed Level 40 with seasonal progression unlocked. Anyone who had not reached the endgame was shut out. If you are just building an agent, SHD levels come first, and SHD leveling is the faster way to get them.
This was more than a login bonus. Combat, keys, and map exploration all fed one reward system, and the event ran for three weeks.
Kitsunebi and Ronin: How Combat Worked
Kitsunebi are a squad of five Named Enemies, a splinter group of the Outcasts. According to Ubisoft, an ambush found you about every ten minutes.

The squad's defining trait is the Shared Health Link, which spreads damage across all five. Every so often the unstable tech malfunctioned and the link briefly broke. That was the moment to pick one target and finish it.
Ronin arrived when a fight dragged on and the game called for backup. A solo player faced one Ronin, a group faced Fox Ronin and Red Ronin together. These were the hardest fights of the event, and Ronin kills dropped Event Keys.
Kitsunebi: five enemies, shared health, an ambush roughly every 10 minutes.
Ronin: one for a solo player, two for a group.
Difficulty: press reports say higher difficulty raised the Event Key drop chance.
In practice the loop was simple: stay in the open world, keep moving between activities, finish Kitsunebi ambushes, and do not bail on a long fight, because a drawn-out fight is what called the Ronin. In a group you faced two Ronin at once, so a weaker build had an easier time solo.
A standard PvE setup was enough for these fights. If you do not have one yet, check the striker PvE build, which covers both damage and survivability in the open world.
Rewards and Event Keys
Progress ran on Event Keys. Ubisoft listed Kitsunebi squads and Ronin kills as key sources, and player reports add that interacting with the blossoms sometimes dropped keys too. Keys opened gear caches and counted toward the Community Challenge.

Reward | How you got it |
|---|---|
Rising Sun Headgear | Free for every player who logged in during the event |
30 apparel items and Lucky Cat Emote | Apparel caches with no duplicates; emote for the full set |
First Bloom | Named PDR with the Blossom Harvest talent |
Cherry Arm Patch | For restoring all 40 cherry blossoms |
Exclusive backpack | For finishing all six projects of a creator chain |
Sakura, Koi, Great Wave, Bamboo patches | Personal Community Challenge goals |
First Bloom was the headline gear reward. Its Blossom Harvest talent adds +3.3% damage for every 10% of the target's remaining health and armor combined, so it hits hardest against tanky enemies. The apparel caches held vanity items only: 30 pieces, including Horned Oni and Kitsune outfits and Fox masks. If you want a named weapon now that the event is over, the route is named weapons farming.
Collectors had it easier: apparel caches never dropped duplicates, so every cache moved you closer to the full set and the Lucky Cat Emote.
Forty Blossoms Across Washington
Forty corrupted cherry blossoms were scattered across the map. You had to find and cleanse them, and restoring all of them earned the Cherry Arm Patch. This was the calmest part of the event: no bosses, just exploring the city. It was easy to combine with other business in the area, and your build barely mattered here. Awareness of the map did.

The activity did not end after the first full clear. Three blossoms reactivated every day at 1:00 AM Pacific, and you could return to them for extra progress. That daily reset kept players in the open world even after the map was clean.
Creator Collaboration and Twitch Drops
A separate branch of the event centered on three content creators: Otsuichi, Rezina, and Mobilmobil. Each had a Project Chain in the Named Zones with six projects. New steps unlocked daily, and an opened project stayed available until the event ended. Finishing all six earned an exclusive creator-themed backpack.
Chain rewards included Named Item Caches, Exotic Components, and Recalibration and Optimization Caches. The same materials can be farmed outside the event: Exotic Components farming and Optimization Resources farming are the closest equivalents.
Twitch Drops ran from April 21 to April 28, 2026. Watch time stacked across channels, your Twitch account had to be linked through Ubisoft Connect, and the items arrived on your next game login.
30 minutes: Cherry Blossom Weapon Skin
1 hour: Named Cache
2 hours: Cherry Blossom Arm Patch
3 hours: Exotic Cache
4 hours: Nishiki Weapon Skin
The drops window closed on April 28, so that part cannot be repeated. If you want Exotic Caches the regular way, Exotic Cache farming does the job.
Community Challenge: Shared Goals
The Community Challenge counted the keys you contributed. Personal rewards unlocked at 10, 20, 40, and 80 keys: the Sakura, Koi, Great Wave, and Bamboo patches, in that order. Shared cross-platform goals sat at 1, 3, and 5 million keys and unlocked the Ronin Outfit, Ronin Gloves, and Ronin Mask.
The personal patches depended on you alone. The Ronin set was unlocked by every platform together, and all you could do was add your share. A sensible order was to finish the personal track first and send any extra keys to the global counter.
What to Do Now That It Is Over
No re-run of the Cherry Blossom Event has been announced, so do not plan around returning keys and Ronin. Event rewards were cosmetics, caches, and a weapon, not temporary buffs, and according to player reports what you earned stays in your collection.

Three practical takeaways. First, access to events like this depends on seasonal progress, so do not put the season off and check the rewards of the season pass. Second, for general gear upgrades it helps to know where prototype gear comes from and how Prototype Cores farming works. Third, if you need an exotic for a build, look at the Tinkerer exotic mask.
If an event like this returns, a ready build and spare time will be the biggest edge. The event lived on tempo: an ambush every ten minutes, Ronin mid-fight, daily blossoms.
