FC 27 Clubs Guide: Entry, Archetypes and Team Play

FC 27 Clubs revolves around controlling one footballer and contributing to a team. High sprint speed alone is not enough. You need to offer passing options, hold an appropriate position and understand what teammates are trying to do next.

The route into Clubs now runs through The Grounds. Learn how to reach the Clubhouse and choose a role before worrying about optimising every attribute. Temporary boosts are not a prerequisite for understanding the mode, and early progression is easier to use when the build has a purpose.

This guide covers FC 27 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC and Nintendo Switch 2, the versions supporting The Grounds and Clubs. Mode availability and cross-platform matchmaking are separate questions. Switch 2 appearing in that list does not establish shared cross-play with every other system.

Enter Clubs through The Grounds

Complete The Grounds introduction and meet Paulo Dybala at the Clubhouse. Its map entrance uses house iconography. You can then create a club, join an existing one or accept a friend's invitation.

Decide whether you want a regular team or are still exploring positions. A stable club makes it easier to divide responsibilities and build familiar combinations. When you are new, first discover which role you enjoy rather than committing resources to a position you do not want to play.

Do not confuse the Clubhouse with individual stadium activity entrances. Leagues, Playoffs and club tournaments belong to the team structure of Clubs, while Rush and 11v11 Drop-In offer other ways to participate. Choose the activity that serves your goal rather than the nearest map icon.

Choose a job before an Archetype

Ask the team where another player is useful. A second forward joining an already crowded attack may contribute less than a careful midfielder who helps the side play out. Your role should answer two questions: what you do with the ball and where you belong without it.

Role

Main job

Build qualities to assess

Striker

Finish and create space for teammates

Receiving, movement and shooting

Wide player

Offer width or threaten from the flank

Carrying, acceleration and delivery

Central midfielder

Connect lines and retain possession

Control, passing and work rate

Defender

Delay progress and cover teammates

Positioning, duels and recovery

Goalkeeper

Protect the goal and begin attacks

Reactions, positioning and reliable actions

These are selection priorities rather than a universal Attribute Point allocation. Begin with a problem that appears repeatedly. If you arrive late to receive the ball, improving finishing alone will not provide more chances.

All Archetypes are available from the start in FC 27. You do not need to buy access to try another specialisation. Switching helps compare options, but use similar conditions: changing teammates and position alongside the build makes the result hard to interpret.

Separate AXP from attribute allocation

Archetype XP, or AXP, progresses an Archetype. Playing activities and completing Objectives help earn it, while some rewards and consumables provide additional AXP. Experience and allocatable Attribute Points have different jobs, so do not treat them as a single currency.

You can reduce individual attributes and move the points elsewhere. A complete reset is unnecessary for one adjustment, and a paid reset item is not required. Correct a specific weakness, then assess whether the change improves the role.

Do not attempt to maximise every attractive number. A build has responsibilities and constraints. A striker who rarely receives possession may benefit more from being able to control a pass and keep the move alive than from further investment in shot power alone.

Masteries extend beyond one build

Masteries provide permanent benefits that matter across Archetype changes. They create a reason to explore additional development paths over time. Start by learning the main role, however: moving randomly between all available options is not a substitute for a plan.

Choose another specialisation according to the qualities it adds. A central player might explore a distribution-focused option before returning to a defensive responsibility with a more complete understanding of midfield. This is a long-term approach, not an instruction to level everything immediately.

Adjust a build before the match

In a League Match lobby, return to the bench if you have already occupied a position. Open Player Management and Archetypes, make the changes and return to the team. Rush and Drop-In have their relevant Archetypes option in the lobby.

Keep a short record of a working build. During experiments it lets you restore the previous allocation without reconstructing it from memory. Change one group of attributes if you want to identify the source of an improvement.

Before using Instant AXP, check the active Archetype and the item's requirements. The experience goes to the active specialisation. A consumable's own level limit is not the overall progression cap. Selecting the wrong build can spend an item on a path you did not intend to develop.

Use Amps for a defined task

Amps temporarily improve an active Archetype for a limited number of matches. They do not replace permanent development. Read the benefits and remaining uses instead of selecting an item solely because it appears rare.

Applicability matters. Amps apply in stadium matches and in-world Rush. Do not assume the same effect automatically applies to every smaller activity in The Grounds. Check the rules of the format and the item you plan to equip.

Make sure the team is ready before relying on temporary improvements. If you still need to change positions, explain the shape and organise the squad, an Amp does not solve those problems. A reward used deliberately is more valuable than activating everything before any match.

Team habits matter more than identical builds

Agree on three simple responsibilities before playing: who offers a short pass, who covers a turnover and who supports the far side. The jobs can change within an attack, but teammates should share the basic idea.

Do not call for a pass into a blocked lane merely because you have not touched the ball recently. Offer a safe option, then open another after releasing it. When every player runs toward possession, the team loses depth and becomes predictable.

After conceding, examine the sequence rather than blaming the final touch. A defender may face an impossible situation because possession was lost without cover earlier. One precise change to team behaviour is often more useful than an extended search for a culprit.

FAQ

Do I need to unlock every Archetype?

No. FC 27 makes them available from the beginning, allowing you to select one for your intended team role.

Does changing attributes cost anything?

No. Individual attribute points can be reassigned without a paid reset item or a compulsory full reset.

Are AXP and Amps the same thing?

No. AXP supports Archetype progression. Amps give temporary benefits for a limited number of applicable matches.

What is the best Clubs build?

There is no universal choice. A useful build performs a defined role, fits your current development and complements your teammates. Evaluate it in team play rather than only through its final numbers.
