Escape from Tarkov Blackout: a historical event guide
Blackout turned The Lab into a separate crisis scenario: interest in the closed complex collided with dangerous operatives already inside, while event tasks demanded returns under unfamiliar conditions. Success depended on preparing an excursion, choosing its purpose and leaving with the result already secured.
This is a historical account of the July 2026 event after its balancing changes. It explains PvP/PvE differences, limited-time planning, loot priorities and task checks. It does not establish present availability or a verified final actual closing date.
Begin with your own profile and accepted task. Separately identify what must happen inside the raid, what must be extracted and what must be handed to a trader. Mixing these actions can turn a successful firefight into a return without the required progress.
What happened in The Lab
The developers connected Blackout’s launch with Skier discovering a vulnerability in the laboratory’s security system. Different interested parties converged on valuable materials; unidentified operatives in black were already inside. A later developer message explicitly named Wedge and his squad in The Lab’s dark corridors.
That changes the raid’s practical purpose. Threats, tasks and loot compete for attention. Avoid treating an encountered enemy’s death as automatic task completion: first check what your particular card records. Chasing another opponent can consume time needed for an item or extraction.
Darkness calls for a separate visibility decision. Before entering, check how your selected lighting or observation method works and whether it remains usable after changing weapons. An expensive optic does not replace a readable target image or knowledge of the next cover.

A general official EFT screenshot illustrates night observation. It does not establish a particular device, The Lab layout or Blackout state.
Launch, the announced deadline and extension
Update 1.0.6.5 installation and the announcement that Blackout was live belong to July 14, 2026. The first message promised to announce its end later. The developers subsequently announced July 27, then separately extended the event and again postponed the final-date announcement.
July 27 therefore cannot be presented as a verified actual closing date. It was an intermediate plan superseded by the extension. That extension also does not establish availability whenever somebody enters the game at a later date.
Separate the event’s duration from temporary bonuses. One July announcement offered a distinct raid-XP bonus with its own deadline. That bonus ending does not determine Blackout’s closure or the availability of its associated tasks.
Raid duration differed between PvP and PvE
Following balancing, Blackout’s The Lab duration increased to 30 minutes in PvP and 35 minutes in PvE. An early recommendation built around 25 minutes for every raid no longer describes this historical snapshot. Check the actual timer on screen, particularly around technical updates.
PvE received fewer Black Division operatives and more PMC bots. That does not turn it into an empty practice map. The threat composition changes; checking angles, monitoring ammunition and keeping a retreat route remain necessary.
Plan backward from leaving. Reserve time for returning and extracting, then for securing the mandatory result, and only afterward assign the remainder to optional rooms. Avoid prescribing one departure minute for every spawn: character condition, squad position and task differ.
Preparing the task sequence
The assignments cover different actions: inspecting the laboratory, testing a code, collecting materials, planting devices and fighting. The table gives the historical event's traders and concrete objectives. The final task uses its later version, established by a completed card showing 30 eliminations.
Assignment | Trader | What to do |
|---|---|---|
Wrench and Waterboarding | Skier | Visit The Lab: Visit The Lab is the single objective entry. The emergency-power explanation belongs to the task dialogue. |
Key to Every Door | Skier | Find the emergency access code and test whether it works. The task description specifies testing it on any door normally opened with a keycard. |
My Blood Type Mark is on the Sleeve | Therapist | Collect TG-y from the experiment room and hand over the first sample; collect TG-y from the second-floor laboratory block and hand over the second; obtain the documents from Sanitar's room and hand over the intel. These are six separate progress entries. |
Patch the Vulnerability | Mechanic | Plant a device in the system admin's office, the garage gate control room and the central security monitoring room; eliminate 10 Black Division operatives. |
If I Can't Have It | Mechanic | In the later version, eliminate any 30 targets in The Lab. This replaces the early 15-PMC objective. |
For My Blood Type Mark is on the Sleeve, track three items separately: the first sample, the second sample and the intel from Sanitar's room. After a successful pickup, check its particular objective, then hand the item to Therapist through Turn in. Obtaining a sample does not replace submitting it. The official quest-inventory rules warn that a unique task item is deleted on death; outside a raid, it can be placed in the quest stash on the Tasks tab so it is not lost during the next deployment.
For Patch the Vulnerability, prepare the three supplied Local network hacking devices and assign each to a separate destination. The system admin's office, garage gate control room and central security monitoring room are distinct placements; the counter for 10 Black Division operatives is checked separately. At a placement point, hold Use until its timer finishes, then confirm the relevant placement is recorded before moving on.

The card separates retrieving each sample and the documents from handing them to Therapist.

Three Local network hacking devices are supplied for the placements; the Black Division counter is separate.
The arsenal key and laboratory access
The developers increased Black Division operatives’ chance of carrying the arsenal storage room key. A probability change does not promise a drop after every victory. When building an excursion around the key, decide what useful result remains if it does not appear.
New TerraGroup Labs access-keycard offers also appeared at Therapist and Mechanic. Separate the card used to enter the location, a particular storage-room key and internal-room access: association with The Lab does not make these interchangeable items.
Before buying, open your trader’s offer and check its required item, availability and conditions. An older announcement that an offer was added does not guarantee a permanent price or stock. The event’s trading adjustment also does not define ordinary laboratory access outside Blackout.
Codes and locked rooms
In historical Blackout version 1.0.6.5, the code board was in a room with tall server racks and a wall-mounted control panel. The entrance landmark is a small single door to the left of double doors marked «ЛАБОРАТОРНЫЙ БЛОК» (Laboratory Block). Inside, find the whiteboard and note its combination before moving to a code-locked door. The illustrated example shows 7523 on the board; for your own attempt, read the digits on the board in your raid.
At a code-locked door, aim at the wall keypad and select ENTER CODE. The historical game tutorial allows digits from the keyboard number row or Numpad, Backspace to erase a digit and F to cancel input. Stay beside the door while entering the combination: moving too far away requires entering it again. Take position at the keypad before typing the recorded code; correct a mistaken digit before continuing.

Historical Blackout: aim at the keypad and select ENTER CODE first. The build number is not readable in this frame.
Decide what happens after opening a room. When a task item is needed, secure that objective before additional looting. When income is the purpose, reserve carrying space and identify the point at which returning becomes more valuable than another container.
The confirmed balance change increased loot quantities in locked rooms. It does not promise a particular item in every room or identical earnings per raid. Assess what was actually found and the price of further risk instead of an older video’s expected room value.
Emergency power and leaving The Lab
In an available early PvE account, a player links the emergency-power switch to the Parking and Hangar gates. This is limited evidence from one PvE run, not official confirmation for other modes or builds. Before choosing a route, check the exits listed and their state in your own raid. The whiteboard code is described separately: it is for testing doors normally opened with a keycard and is not confirmed as an extraction-activation method.
Before entering the room, clear the nearby passage and decide which gate you will approach. The switch opens the route, but it neither moves your character to extraction nor clears enemies from the approach. After interacting, check the exit state on screen, then move toward your selected point with time reserved for contact. Do not postpone finding the switch until the raid's final seconds.
This sequence belongs to an early PvE walkthrough rather than an established universal rule for every PvP and PvE edition. Check available exits and their state in the particular raid. Room access, restoring power and actually extracting are three separate stages: finishing the first does not finish the others.
If a dangerous squad holds your chosen approach, compare changing direction with continuing the fight. Samples already collected and a device already planted matter more than optional pursuit. Save ammunition and healing for the final crossing even after the raid's main objective is complete.

The initial card asks you to visit The Lab. The 90075-rouble payout is shown for a particular profile.
Loot, rewards and risk
The cards show specific item bundles as well as experience. Rouble figures in the table are copied from the illustrated profiles: they are displayed payouts, rather than established base amounts or an Intelligence Center bonus calculation.
Assignment | Experience | Displayed payout | Items |
|---|---|---|---|
Wrench and Waterboarding | 15000 EXP | 90075 roubles | 2 Cyclone Shakhin 3.7x thermal scopes; 2 Torrey Pines Logic T12W 30Hz thermal reflex sights |
Key to Every Door | 33000 EXP | 173992 roubles | 1 Trijicon REAP-IR; 1 FLIR RS-32 2.25-9x 35mm 60Hz |
My Blood Type Mark is on the Sleeve | 40000 EXP | 195002 roubles | 1 each of the Black, Red and Violet TerraGroup Labs keycards |
Patch the Vulnerability | 55000 EXP | 284715 roubles | 2 Colt M4A1 rifles; 3 SureFire MAG5-100 STANAG 100-round magazines; 3 packs of 100 M995 rounds |
If I Can't Have It | 46000 EXP | 232100 roubles | 2 M60E6 machine guns; 5 M67 Capco 100-round Assault Boxes; 35 packs of 20 M61 rounds |
After fulfilling every objective, open the trader's Tasks tab and press Complete. Collect item rewards separately: Messages, the relevant trader, Receive, move them into the stash and Accept. Watch the collection timer in the dialogue: completing a task does not preserve an unclaimed parcel indefinitely. Allocate the optics, keycards and weapons between subsequent attempts and a reserve, rather than treating the entire bundle as already sold at a fixed price.
Blackout tasks award Going Dark, a Legendary achievement. Its in-game description links the reward to encountering Black Division forces and completing the event task line. Track progress across the five assignments, then check the profile achievement section after completing them; finding a key or scoring a single elimination does not replace finishing the task line.
A practical order for one excursion
Before the raid, choose the main objective and a fallback result. Check visibility equipment, weapon suitability, healing, space for the mandatory item and a shared squad pace. Complete access purchases and exchanges before everybody else is ready to enter.
At the start, establish your position and timer. After each significant exchange, check character condition, remaining resources and the ability to continue the task. A pre-fight decision need not remain correct after time or healing has been lost.
After securing the mandatory result, assess risk again. An additional room costs travel, time and a chance of losing what is already accomplished. Returning with an assignment completed is a useful outcome even without a completely full backpack.
Frequently asked questions
Is Blackout necessarily available now?
This historical account has no confirmation establishing current availability. July’s launch, balancing and extension are established; a final actual closing date has not been separately verified.
How long were raids after balancing?
30 minutes in PvP and 35 minutes in PvE. Those are the Blackout rules covered here rather than a universal The Lab duration across every version and mode.
Does If I Can’t Have It require PMCs exclusively?
The official balancing announcement allows any target, and the completed later card shows a 30/30 counter. The early 15-PMC requirement does not apply to this version.
Does Black Division guarantee a key?
No such promise is confirmed. The developers announced an increased chance of those operatives carrying the arsenal key.
Can July 27 be called the final closing date?
No. The event was officially extended after that announcement, with a final date promised separately.
