Final Fantasy XIV Patch 7.3: What It Added
What Patch 7.3 Delivered and What Still Matters Today
Patch 7.3, "The Promise of Tomorrow," went live on August 5, 2025 and wrapped up the main story of Dawntrail. Alongside the finale it brought a new four-player dungeon, an alliance raid, two fresh trials, PvP additions and several relaxed activities for solo players.
Part of the content arrived later, in updates 7.31 and 7.35. Each item below is tied to its patch, so you can see what shipped with the main release and what followed. Information is current as of October 18, 2026.
If you are returning to Final Fantasy XIV after a break or catching up on Dawntrail, treat this overview as a route: what to clear in the story, where to go for gear and which activities can wait.
Story and Quests: The Dawntrail Finale and Side Lines
The Main Scenario Quests in 7.3 close out the Dawntrail storyline. The new dungeon The Meso Terminal launched alongside it.
The side lines were spread across several patches:
Phantom Weapons. Upgrade quests for the Phantom Weapons arrived in 7.31. The line kept growing later, and the final relic step came in patch 7.55.
Yok Huy. New Allied Society quests from Tural were added in 7.35. They are aimed at crafters, which gives crafting jobs something to do between story missions.
Hildibrand. Two quests of "Inconceivably Further Hildibrand Adventures" also came with 7.35. They are short comedy stories and a good breather after a serious finale.
A practical tip: finish the main story first, then pick up the side lines. That keeps spoilers away.
Dungeons: Meso Terminal, Pilgrim's Traverse and Vault Oneiron
This period brought three different dungeon formats: a regular story run, a deep dungeon and a treasure hunt driven by maps. The table below puts all three side by side, and the deep dungeon arrived slightly after the main release.

Dungeon | Type | Level and party | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
The Meso Terminal | Story dungeon, patch 7.3 | Level 100, ilvl 720 (760 when synced), 4 players, 90 minute limit | Available via Duty Finder with Duty Support; counts toward the Level Cap Dungeons roulette |
Pilgrim's Traverse | Deep dungeon, patch 7.35 | Entry at level 91, 100 floors | Checkpoints at floors 31, 51 and 71 |
Vault Oneiron | Treasure dungeon, patch 7.3 | Level 100, a full party of 8 is recommended | Entered through coffers from Gargantuaskin treasure maps in Living Memory |
The Meso Terminal is a dungeon for four players. You can run it with real players through the queue or with Duty Support companions (Trust or Explorer), so soloists do not have to wait for a group.
Pilgrim's Traverse appeared in patch 7.35. To enter, you need a combat job at level 91 and the quest "Pilgrimage of Light." From floor 31 onward you will need the side quest "Faerie Tale," so it is smart to finish it ahead of time. Progress is saved at checkpoints, so you do not have to clear all 100 floors in one sitting.
Vault Oneiron is the modern heir to treasure map content such as Aquapolis and Lyhe Ghiah. There is no item level requirement, but you want a full, prepared party.
Alliance Raid: San d'Oria: The Second Walk
The second part of the Echoes of Vana'diel alliance raid series is called "San d'Oria: The Second Walk." It is built for three parties of eight, so it suits both Duty Finder regulars and groups of friends.

The series draws on Final Fantasy XI, and players familiar with Vana'diel will recognize plenty. For everyone else it is simply another 24-player alliance raid.
Trials: Necron and the Unreal Wreath of Snakes
Patch 7.3 added two new fights. The normal version is The Ageless Necropolis, and the Extreme version is "The Minstrel's Ballad: Necron's Embrace." Winning the Extreme grants the Wings of Death mount, obtained through the Grave Totem item.

If you want the Wings of Death mount, start with the normal version to learn the phases and the story. The Extreme demands a coordinated group and solid knowledge of the mechanics, and the reward is a collectible.
The Unreal trial The Wreath of Snakes is a separate story. It brings back the Seiryu fight from Stormblood, rebuilt for level 100. Details: level 100, ilvl 690 (695 when synced), 8 players, 60 minute limit, accessed through Raid Finder (Trials). The unlock quest is "Fantastic Mr. Faux." Since patch 7.4 the Unreal trials run on a rotation, so check whether it is available before planning a run.
Patch 7.35 added a Monster Hunter Wilds collaboration with The Windward Wilds trial and its Extreme version. It stands apart from the Dawntrail finale.
Cosmic Exploration, Duty Support and Other Improvements
The planet Phaenna in Cosmic Exploration arrived in patch 7.31, together with new upgrades for cosmic tools. This activity fits players who enjoy crafting, gathering and working without groups.
Another change for soloists: Duty Support came to the classic dungeon Cutter's Cry (level 38). You can now clear it with NPC companions and skip the queue. If you are filling in older dungeons for quests or achievements, that saves time.
PvP: Bayside Battleground, Duo Queue and New Ranks
With patch 7.3, PvP Series 8 (Crystalline Conflict Season 15) ended and Series 9 began. That series is long over, and later seasons are running now.

What stayed in the game:
Bayside Battleground. A new Crystalline Conflict map with a tropical setting.
Duo queue. In casual Crystalline Conflict you can now queue as a pair without entering the ranked pool.
New ranks. The ladder gained Omega and Ultima. The full order is Unranked, Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, Crystal, Omega, Ultima.
For newcomers, duo queue is the gentlest way in: you can learn the map and roles in a pair without risking rating.
Where to Start If You Are Joining Now
A good order for today:
Finish the Dawntrail main story and clear The Meso Terminal.
Unlock Pilgrim's Traverse with "Pilgrimage of Light" and complete "Faerie Tale."
Run Vault Oneiron with a full party when you have time.
Clear The Ageless Necropolis, then decide whether you want the Extreme for Wings of Death.
Try Bayside Battleground in duo queue.
If time is short, take the story and dungeon first, then a trial, then the raid. The rest fits into free evenings.
