Final Fantasy XIV Patch 7.5: Content, Dates and Where to Start
What Patch 7.5 brought
Patch 7.5, Trail to the Heavens, went live on April 28, 2026 and arrived as part of Dawntrail. It added the first half of a new story chapter, a dungeon, a trial, an Unreal version of a classic fight, the finale of the alliance raid series, plus higher housing limits and PvP updates. Everything here is accurate as of October 18, 2026.
If you are returning to the game, the key point is that the patch's content was spread over about half a year. The second half of the story, Dancing Mad Ultimate, side stories and some other changes arrived in 7.51, 7.55 and 7.56. Patch 7.57 came out in mid-October, but this overview covers the 7.5 cycle.
Next, in order: the schedule, PvE, story, high-end play, housing, PvP and a plan of action. The sections do not depend on each other, so feel free to jump to the one you need.
The 7.5x release schedule
The patch rolled out in stages, and each stage had its own set of additions. The core content came in April, and updates added the rest.

7.5 - April 28, 2026: the first half of the story, the dungeon The Clyteum, the trial The Unmaking, Shinryu's Domain (Unreal), the alliance raid Windurst: The Third Walk, housing and PvP.
7.51 - June 2, 2026: Dancing Mad Ultimate and the Custom Deliveries series with Tiisol Ja.
7.55 - July 28, 2026: Dawntrail Allied Society quests and the new Inconceivably Further Hildibrand Adventures.
7.56 - September 8, 2026: the second half of the main story.
7.57 - October 13, 2026: the most recent patch right now.
If you are coming back after a break, every update of the cycle is already available, so there is no need to wait for the next parts.
PvE content: dungeon, trial, Unreal and alliance raid
The patch has four level 100 activities at its core. Most of them are unlocked by a quest, so push the story forward first and only then look at the Duty Finder queues.

The Clyteum is an item level 750 dungeon unlocked by the quest "Two Worlds Entwined". It is tied to the main story, so you can run it as you follow the main line. The Unmaking is the trial featuring the boss Enuo: the normal version is item level 755 and unlocked by "A Grave Presentiment", while the Extreme version is tuned for 770.
Windurst: The Third Walk closes the Echoes of Vana'diel alliance raid series. It is item level 755 and unlocked by "The Hollow Promise". Shinryu's Domain (Unreal) brings back the Shinryu fight in the Unreal format at item level 690, unlocked by "Fantastic Mr. Faux", the same quest that opens the Unreal version of Wreath of Snakes.
Activity | Type | Item level | Unlock quest |
|---|---|---|---|
The Clyteum | Dungeon | 750 | Two Worlds Entwined |
The Unmaking (Normal) | Trial | 755 | A Grave Presentiment |
The Unmaking (Extreme) | Extreme trial | 770 | - |
Windurst: The Third Walk | Alliance raid | 755 | The Hollow Promise |
Shinryu's Domain (Unreal) | Unreal trial | 690 | Fantastic Mr. Faux |
For comparison of the levels: Shinryu's Domain (Unreal) has the lowest bar at 690. The Clyteum at 750 is a step higher, while the normal Unmaking and Windurst sit at 755. The gap between the normal and Extreme Unmaking looks small on paper, but Extreme fights usually demand noticeably cleaner play.
The Extreme version of The Unmaking sits 15 item levels above the normal one, so it makes sense to tackle it after clearing the normal mode. If you want help with a clear or with gear, check the offers below.
Story and side content
The main story of the patch is split into two parts. The first came with 7.5, and the second arrived on September 8 with patch 7.56. If you start now, both parts are available at once, so you can play the whole story through without waiting for the sequel.
Side content was spread across later updates. Patch 7.51 added the Custom Deliveries from Tiisol Ja. Patch 7.55 brought the Dawntrail Allied Society quests and the new Hildibrand adventures. That gave players a reason to log in throughout the cycle, not only in April.
A practical tip: The Clyteum, The Unmaking and the Windurst alliance raid each have their own unlock quest, listed in the table above. Check the quest in advance so you do not hunt for a locked activity in the Duty Finder.
Dancing Mad Ultimate and high-end play
The new Ultimate fight, Dancing Mad, appeared in patch 7.51 on June 2, 2026. Alongside the Extreme version of The Unmaking, it became the main goal for high-end players in the 7.5x cycle.
Ultimates are usually cleared by a regular group and take many attempts, so approach Dancing Mad once the normal raids and the cycle's Extreme trial are behind you.
Ordering the content by item level gives a ladder: Shinryu's Domain (Unreal) at 690, then The Clyteum at 750, The Unmaking and Windurst at 755, and only then the Extreme version of The Unmaking at 770. That order keeps you from jumping straight into the hardest fight.
Shinryu's Domain (Unreal) suits anyone who wants to revisit a familiar fight in a new format: its item level is well below the rest of the patch's activities, so you do not need fresh gear to get in.
Housing: more furniture and a new style
For decorators, patch 7.5 raised the item placement limits for every type of housing, by roughly one and a half times.

Apartments and chambers: interior from 100 to 150 items.
Cottage: interior from 200 to 300, exterior from 20 to 40.
House: interior from 300 to 450, exterior from 30 to 60.
Mansion: interior from 400 to 600, exterior from 40 to 80.
A new interior style, Dark Minimalist Style, was added as well. It suits strict, dark rooms without extra clutter.
The gain is biggest in large homes: a mansion interior gained 200 items and its exterior 40. Small apartments got a more modest +50 inside, but even there a room is easier to furnish without compromises.
PvP: Series 11 and a new arena
In PvP, patch 7.5 closed Series 10 and opened Series 11. It ran until patch 7.56, nearly the whole cycle, so there was time to earn rank and rewards without rushing.

Crystalline Conflict gained a new arena, Archeia Harmonias, which joined the casual and ranked rotation. The new map keeps matches varied but takes getting used to, so it helps to play a few casual games before ranked and learn the routes and control points.
Series 11 ended with the release of 7.56. The Archeia Harmonias arena stayed in the game, so the routes you learned will still be useful in later series.
Where to start now
If you have been away for a while, the order is simple. Finish the story first, since both parts are available. Then unlock The Clyteum and the normal version of The Unmaking, and move on to the Windurst alliance raid.
After that, choose by goal. Collectors have Shinryu's Domain (Unreal), the side quests and housing with the new limits. For high-end play there is the Extreme version of The Unmaking and Dancing Mad Ultimate. If PvP is more your thing, try the new Archeia Harmonias arena.
If you plan to work on housing, estimate in advance how many items your intended setup needs and compare that with the limits for your house type. That makes it easier to see whether the new allowance is enough or you should trim something.
If time is short, start with the story and the dungeon: they give the fastest sense of progress. Save the raid and the Extreme trial for evenings when you can put a group together.
