This editorial shortlist for Version 7.1 separates characters by job. It considers how independently their cycle works, support value, compatibility with suitable teams, and the preparation needed for a complete party. It is not an official developer ranking or fabricated current Abyss usage data.

The comparison assumes C0 five-star characters, functional equipment without mandatory signatures, and level 90. Four-star options are considered with the limits of their base kits. Expensive Constellations and levels 95-100 are not hidden requirements, and characters outside the shortlist are not automatically assigned a low rating.

What S and A mean

The stated role matters. S-tier support does not mean higher personal damage than an A-tier attacker. Likewise, a high rating within a Lunar engine does not make that character an automatic replacement in a conventional Vaporize party.

There are no invented damage scores or usage percentages here. Name order within a row is not an additional ranking. Choose the missing function first, then the character that supplies it.

On-field damage shortlist

Neuvillette is an attractive Hydro foundation built around enhanced Charged Attacks. Droplets accelerate the attack preparation and restore HP. At C0, interruption and the passive’s different-reaction requirements still matter. A high placement does not remove the need for suitable support.

Arlecchino offers a clear Pyro loop: Skill, teammate setup, mark absorption, then Normal Attacks. Her placement reflects this controllable attack window. The main defensive cost is restricted combat healing, so a shield or reliable dodging belongs in the plan.

Skirk is especially compelling when the account can support her Hydro and Cryo conditions. She uses Serpent’s Subtlety, and her passives reward the appropriate teammates. With an established specialist party, she can be a better next upgrade than a broadly useful S-tier character from a different element.

Raiden is valuable where her field phase and energy restoration connect the party’s Bursts. A team that does not use that function loses part of the benefit. Do not treat an ordinary CRIT-oriented build and a dedicated reaction build as one interchangeable stat setup.

Support shortlist for suitable teams

Furina combines off-field damage with a buff linked to HP changes. Planned recovery is part of realizing that value. Adding her to a party without solving the HP cycle is not equivalent to completing the team’s buff setup.

Nahida supplies a Dendro foundation through marks and reaction interactions. Evaluate her where those functions matter. Do not attribute innate Dendro resistance reduction to her base talent: artifact effects and character abilities are separate sources.

Kazuha groups enemies and grants an appropriate elemental bonus after Swirl; he is not a universal amplifier for every damage category. Xilonen works differently: Samples convert for Pyro, Hydro, Cryo, and Electro teammates; her Burst needs at least two converted Samples to provide periodic healing. A familiar support setup cannot be transferred unchanged to any arbitrary party.

Bennett is particularly useful for ATK-scaling damage dealers. At C0, the field’s ATK buff requires the active character to be above 70% HP; C1 removes that restriction. His healing works within the field, so movement and HP affect convenience. Xingqiu combines Normal Attack-linked Hydro with defensive utility. Kuki Shinobu supplies healing and repeated Electro interaction. Zhongli protects an attack window through shielding. Choose among them by identifying the party’s problem, not by filling every slot with the same tier letter.

Lunar and Stellar foundations: rate the specialist role

Columbina supports Lunar reactions and enables interaction with Lunar-Charged, Lunar-Bloom, and Lunar-Crystallize. This explains her high priority inside that system, not an assertion of identical value in every conventional Hydro team.

5. Compare that project with improving characters you already own.

If Arlecchino repeatedly dies, another attacker does not fix her attack window. If Skirk already has suitable Hydro-Cryo support, developing her may contribute more than a broadly rated new character who does not yet have a team.

For modes with separate parties, account for overlapping supports. Two ideas that both need Furina and Kazuha may compete for the same characters. Flexibility is useful for planning, but a character cannot occupy two simultaneously required parties.

When to revisit the ranking

Read version changes, new weapon effects, and enhancements for older characters. Witch’s Revelation, for example, added opportunities for selected existing characters. A table that ignores such changes can describe an outdated role despite displaying a recent page date.

Revisit priorities when the account changes too. A healer, energy source, or weapon can make an existing composition much more comfortable. A tier list should reduce unproductive spending rather than persuade you to abandon a favorite party that already works.
