Best Genshin Impact Teams: Compositions and Replacements
The best Genshin Impact team aligns damage, elemental application, energy, and survival. Four strong individual characters can still make an awkward party if they compete for field time, interfere with the intended reaction, or leave one another waiting for Bursts.
Start with the task: exploration, a single boss, and several enemy waves reward different kinds of convenience. Then choose an engine, such as a particular damage dealer, a conventional reaction, or a Lunar or Stellar mechanic. Select supports around that engine.
The following are editorial team options for Version 7.1, accompanied by a method for adapting them to your account. Five-star characters use a C0 baseline without mandatory signature weapons or level 100, and each composition is judged by its purpose and conditions.
Six complete starting compositions
Engine | Four characters | Reason to choose it |
|---|---|---|
Neuvillette with support | Neuvillette, Furina, Kazuha, Xilonen | Hydro attack damage with buffs and recovery |
Arlecchino Vaporize | Arlecchino, Xingqiu, Bennett, Zhongli | Pyro Normal Attacks with Hydro application and a shield |
Raiden with Pyro and Hydro | Raiden Shogun, Xiangling, Xingqiu, Bennett | A connected Burst rotation with energy recovery |
Skirk with Cryo and Hydro | Skirk, Escoffier, Furina, Shenhe | A party that respects Skirk’s team conditions |
Lunar-Charged | Flins, Columbina, Ineffa, Barbara | Dedicated Lunar characters with a healing slot |
Stellar Swirl | Vesna, Odette, Vodyanitsa, Alyosha | An Anemo-centered party with Cryo, Hydro, and Electro roles |
These are complete starting points, not interchangeable name lists. Conventional role and talent requirements are especially important in the first four teams. In the final two, check the talent that enables the special reaction: simply assembling the same elements does not always create the same mechanic.

Editorial framework: choose complementary roles around the party’s purpose.
Neuvillette: support the attack window
Neuvillette’s main window uses his enhanced Charged Attack. Furina adds damage and a buff connected to HP changes, Kazuha supplies grouping and an elemental bonus, and Xilonen supports suitable elements through her Samples and heals the active character with the appropriate composition.
At C0, understand the cost of a second Hydro character. Neuvillette’s passive recognizes different reaction types; repeating the same reaction does not create a new independent type. Furina can be valuable without automatically fulfilling every condition of that passive.
Open with Neuvillette’s Skill, prepare the supports and their effects, then return to the Charged Attack window using his Droplets. Keep room to dodge or reposition. If interruptions repeatedly break the sequence, a defensive replacement may contribute more practical damage than another theoretical buff.
Arlecchino: protect the Normal Attack sequence
Xingqiu provides Hydro interaction linked to Normal Attacks, Bennett supports ATK, and Zhongli helps preserve the window through a shield. Begin with Arlecchino’s Skill, prepare the teammates, and then absorb the upgraded marks with a Charged Attack. Normal Attacks drive the main sequence.
Bennett does not heal Arlecchino during combat; her own Burst remains her recovery tool. A shield is therefore not automatically a wasted damage slot. Preventing a death and keeping the attack window intact is a meaningful part of the team’s job.
At C0, Bennett’s ATK buff applies only while the active character is above 70% HP. C1 removes this HP restriction. This matters especially for Arlecchino: the field cannot heal her up to that threshold during combat, so at C0 preserve HP through shielding or use her own Burst.
When survival becomes reliable, compare a more offensive replacement for the defensive slot. Change one role at a time and repeat the same encounter. Otherwise, it becomes difficult to distinguish a useful improvement from a fortunate attempt.

Arlecchino takes the Normal Attack window while teammates support damage and safety.
Raiden: connect energy and Burst windows
Raiden, Xiangling, Xingqiu, and Bennett combine several sources of damage. The support Bursts prepare the rotation, after which Raiden occupies the field through her own Burst and restores party energy. Describing her as exclusively an off-field character is incorrect for this composition.
A practical outline is Raiden’s Skill, Xingqiu’s abilities, Bennett’s field, Xiangling’s abilities, then Raiden’s Burst and its attack window. Adjust the details to available energy and weapons. Include appropriate Normal Attack inputs to interact with Xingqiu’s sword rain.
If the first rotation looks impressive but the following cycles become energy downtime, the build is unfinished. Solve Energy Recharge and particle collection before adding more offensive stats. The largest first hit is not a sufficient measure of this party.
Skirk: respect the party requirements
Skirk, Escoffier, Furina, and Shenhe are entirely Hydro and Cryo. That matters for Skirk’s team conditions. She also uses Serpent’s Subtlety, so a generic instruction to collect ordinary Elemental Energy for her Burst does not describe her resource system.
Prepare support effects before Skirk’s main window. Replacing a Hydro or Cryo teammate with an arbitrary Anemo buffer can add one benefit while removing another, so read the passives before making that change. In particular, check the three separate teammates contributing the required hits for Death’s Crossing.
This example requires several limited five-star characters. If the account does not own them, finishing an available engine is usually a better development plan than funding four unrelated projects while waiting for future wishes.
Lunar and Stellar teams need their enablers
In Flins, Columbina, Ineffa, and Barbara, Flins supplies the main Lunar-Charged damage window. Columbina contributes Hydro interaction and Lunar support, Ineffa complements the Electro engine, and Barbara provides healing. This is an editorial comfort-oriented starting party, not a claim of the highest possible damage among every Lunar composition.
Vesna, Odette, Vodyanitsa, and Alyosha distribute the roles differently. Vesna takes the field, Odette supplies Cryo and Stellar-related support, Vodyanitsa contributes Hydro and healing, and Alyosha supplies Electro with recovery. Evaluate the final slot’s contribution against the actual defensive needs instead of choosing it only because it belongs to a newer region.
Lunar reactions and Stellar reactions are different systems. Do not call every Electro-Hydro team Lunar-Charged, or transfer a Lunar-Bloom bonus to Stellar Swirl. Read the enabling talent and the requirements for the intended enhancement before selecting artifacts.
Replace functions rather than names
Required function | What to inspect in the replacement |
|---|---|
Off-field element application | Frequency, area, and the trigger condition |
Healing | Whether the ability restores the active character or the whole party |
Shielding and defense | Duration, refresh convenience, and interruption resistance |
Buffing | Supported elements, stats, and damage categories |
Energy | Particle recipients and readiness for the next rotation |
Field-time flexibility | Whether the new character takes the main attacker’s window |
Matching elements does not guarantee matching functions. Xingqiu and another Hydro character can interact differently with Normal Attacks. Xilonen’s behavior depends on her Samples. A strong healer does not remove Arlecchino’s combat healing restriction.
Test a team before extended farming
Complete two full rotations against a suitable target without changing equipment between attempts.
Check whether the intended aura remains before the main attacker’s hits.
Identify characters waiting for energy or cooldowns instead of doing their job.
Check whether buffs expire before the main window begins.
Fix one issue, then repeat the test.
For modes requiring separate parties, account for shared supports. Two compositions that both require the same Xingqiu or Furina are not two independently ready solutions. Allocate the roster across the parties before deciding which new team to develop next.
FAQ
Do I need four five-star characters?
No. Useful roles, energy, and reactions matter more than uniform rarity. Raiden with Xiangling, Xingqiu, and Bennett demonstrates this structure.
Can two characters both need field time?
Yes, when their windows fit. It becomes a problem when one waits while the other consumes the entire support duration.
What is the best exploration team?
A team that travels conveniently, recovers HP, and handles local enemies. A complicated short damage window is not always comfortable for exploration.
Is a special reaction always better than a conventional one?
No. Compare the actual team, enabling talents, equipment, and enemy. A newer reaction name does not guarantee a stronger result.
