Genshin Impact Spirit Carp Locations and Search Guide
Spirit Carp are collectible fragments of adeptal energy found in Chenyu Vale. You pick them up while exploring rather than catching them with a fishing rod. They feed Fujin's offering system, so collection works well alongside unlocking waypoints and completing the region's quests.
The official interactive map marks 50 Spirit Carp. They are not limited to open ground: some sit above roofs, on tall structures or inside restricted spaces. Moving directly from a nearby waypoint toward a pin without checking elevation can leave you underneath the collectible instead of beside it.
The most useful rule is to stop searching blindly for the final pieces. Offering 40 unlocks the built-in locator for the remainder. This guide covers access, a practical area-by-area circuit and specific landmarks for rooftops, the lighthouse and caves.
Unlocking the region and offering system
Chenyu Vale comprises the Upper Vale, Southern Mountain and Mt. Laixin areas. Entering the region and unlocking its offering system are separate steps. The automatically unlocked Upper Vale waypoint is tied to completing the Archon Quest Song of the Dragon and Freedom; it does not unlock the offering destination by itself.
Advance the local quest chain and complete The Cloud-Padded Path to the Chiwang Repose. This unlocks Rainjade Benediction at the Votive Rainjade in Carp's Rest. If the interaction is unavailable, check your quest log instead of trying random inventory items.
Carp collected beforehand do not need to be collected again. Explore accessible locations on the way, then return to make offerings when the system opens. Quests are particularly important for restricted areas: a marker above a cliff does not necessarily mean climbing the outside is the intended route.
Use the map without repeating every area
On the Teyvat Interactive Map, keep the Spirit Carp layer visible and remove unrelated markers. Choose a compact area around an unlocked waypoint, then review elevated and underground points separately. Read a location description and inspect its image before committing to a long climb.
Mark a collectible only after actually picking it up. Standing beside the pin does not prove you obtained it; the item may be inside a cave below or on a structure above. The interactive map is a working checklist rather than an automatic record of your in-game collection.
Keep separate lists for locations available now and those blocked by a quest or puzzle. One locked entrance then stops being a reason to abandon the entire circuit. When the required mechanic opens, revisit a small group of deferred locations instead of searching the whole valley again.
First circuit: Yilong Wharf and the tea settlements
Start from accessible Upper Vale waypoints. Examine Yilong Wharf and nearby structures while watching for tall landmarks. One map location is at the pinnacle of the northern Yilong lighthouse, so check the top rather than only the platform at its base.
Reach the lighthouse pinnacle by climbing the structure or riding a Golden Carp after a nearby Time Trial. If the route you chose is awkward, inspect the local mechanisms instead of exhausting all your stamina against a wall.
Next, check the tea-working area. A separate collectible is marked on top of Chunming Teaworks. For rooftop locations, first reach a nearby elevated position, assess where the particle is and plan a short glide or climb from there.
This opening circuit encourages checking roofs and elevation around relatively familiar settlements. Do not move to a difficult cave just because it looks slightly closer on the large map. Several accessible roofs can provide smoother progress.

Lighthouse pinnacle: check elevation, not just the map pin.

Carp above the teaworks roof: find a convenient elevated starting point before climbing.
Second circuit: Mt. Lingmeng, Jademouth and the southern hills
After the northern settlements, follow unlocked locations toward Mt. Lingmeng and Jademouth. Collect accessible points along the route and keep restricted interiors separate. Local travel mechanisms are often more useful than trying to climb every vertical surface normally.
Reach a Jademouth cave location from the jade-ring waypoint through Golden Carp leaps and a broken bridge. It illustrates why an overhead pin does not reveal the actual entrance. Find the beginning of the route before trying to match the target's elevation.
Farther south, separate Chizhang Wall from the Mt. Xuanlian area. Finish accessible exterior locations before tackling ruins. One gated Chizhang location is associated with fragrant wood and jade fragments. When the passage is locked, solve its access condition instead of searching for an invisible gap in the wall.
This order collects accessible points first and leaves a short checklist of blocked locations. Revisit individual blocked groups when new areas open rather than repeating completed sections.
After offering 40: use the built-in locator
The threshold refers to offering 40 Spirit Carp, not simply holding 40 in your bag. Return to Rainjade Benediction and submit the collection. Once unlocked, the Votive Rainjade's locator helps reveal the remaining particles.
The main map displays an approximate search area. As you approach, a more precise icon appears on the minimap. Reach the area first and then inspect elevation: the locator does not remove caves, rooftops or locked passages.
If the collectible is not visible, check a nearby entrance, the top of a structure and unfinished quests. Compare the marked area against the interactive map and your completed pins. An Oculus Resonance Stone is not a substitute for this separate collection system.
Why a Spirit Carp is still missing
Situation | Likely cause | Action |
|---|---|---|
Nearby pin but no visible particle | Different elevation | Check a roof, cave or summit |
The route ends at a gate | Access is still locked | Check the quest or puzzle |
The locator is unavailable | Offering threshold not met | Submit 40 Carp to the system |
Your map looks almost empty | Some pins were marked too early | Compare actual pickups against checked locations |
One awkward location remains | An inconvenient approach repeats | Inspect the entrance description and image |
Do not treat Spirit Carp as cooking fish or spend time selecting bait. They are exploration collectibles. Think in terms of access, movement and elevation rather than a fishing activity.
FAQ
How many Spirit Carp are there?
The official interactive map marks 50. Use it together with the built-in locator to finish your checklist.
When does the locator unlock?
After unlocking the offering system and submitting a cumulative 40 Carp. Keeping them in the inventory does not replace making the offering.
Must every cave be unlocked first?
No. Collect accessible locations and defer blocked ones. Some routes become easier to finish after quests.
Why is the pin overhead but the item invisible?
Check elevation and entrances to hidden spaces. A large-map marker does not explain the access route.
