Genshin Impact Leveling Guide: Adventure Rank to Level 100

Genshin Impact develops Adventure Rank, character levels, weapons, talents, and artifacts at the same time. These systems interact, but they do not replace one another. Adventure Rank opens opportunities; the strength of a particular party depends on how consistently you invest materials into the characters doing its actual work.

Slow progress often comes from spreading resources across too many characters. One developed party is more useful for quests, bosses, and future farming than ten characters with underleveled weapons and unfinished ascensions. Start with four clear jobs and a manageable upgrade plan.

This guide separates account progression, character development, Resin spending, and the special route to levels 95-100. The old statement that level 90 is the absolute maximum is outdated. Even so, finishing the ordinary foundations of a party remains a sensible priority before pursuing rare extensions.

Adventure Rank and character levels are different

System

What it develops

How to progress

Adventure Rank

Access to quests, systems, and harder activities

Quests, daily rewards, exploration, and claiming Resin rewards

Character level

Base stats within the available level cap

Character EXP materials and Mora, followed by ascension

Weapon

Weapon stats and its effect

Weapon EXP, Mora, and ascension materials

Talents

The abilities you actually use in combat

Talent books, enemy materials, and the relevant level requirements

Artifacts

Main stats, substats, and set effects

Suitable pieces and artifact enhancement

Character EXP books will not remove an Adventure Rank requirement on a quest. Conversely, gaining Adventure Rank does not fix a weak weapon. Identify which progression system is blocking the next step before deciding what to farm.

Ascension is also separate from filling the EXP bar. At a level cap, inspect every material category on the character screen. Boss materials, local specialties, and common enemy drops may require different routes, even when they contribute to the same upgrade.

Diagram separating account progression from party strength

Rank opens opportunities; character investment, weapons and talents make a functional party.

A practical Adventure Rank routine

  1. Continue Archon Quests until an actual rank requirement or party-strength problem stops you. They open areas and related systems.

  2. Claim the available daily rewards. Use commissions or suitable Encounter Points, checking the status in the Handbook.

  3. Spend naturally replenishing Resin on a specific material your party needs.

  4. Activate waypoints, open nearby chests, and pick up useful World Quests while traveling.

  5. When the main story is temporarily blocked, complete unfinished Handbook goals or a connected World Quest chain.

Hours of ordinary enemy grinding are a poor foundation for targeted character leveling. Fight those enemies for materials, then use Character EXP items for deliberate level gains. Adventure Rank grows more effectively from combining the available account-progression activities.

Available one-time content, previous quest completion, and party readiness differ between accounts. Judge progress by completed upgrades and unlocked objectives rather than an unfamiliar account’s timetable.

Decide which upgrades the party needs

Choose the character who occupies most field time or drives the main damage cycle. Give that character a suitable weapon and complete useful available ascensions. Then improve the support abilities the rotation actually uses: healing, shielding, element application, or buffs.

Problem

Useful next action

Fights are slow and the weapon is far behind

Upgrade the weapon and the main damage talent

A character has reached the current cap

Collect ascension materials before adding more EXP

The party repeatedly dies

Improve the defensive ability and review the rotation

Bursts are not ready for the next cycle

Review Energy Recharge and particle collection

Resources disappeared into several new characters

Stop parallel projects and finish the core party

The phrase “main talent” matters. A character who appears only to use a Skill does not necessarily need immediate Normal Attack investment. A character whose enhanced Normal Attacks drive the rotation may need exactly that talent first. Read how the kit works instead of raising every talent equally by default.

Plan Resin around a finished improvement

Original Resin naturally accumulates up to 200. At the cap, further replenishment is not being used. Before entering a Domain, open the party’s upgrade requirements and choose the next finished objective: a weapon ascension, a useful talent, character levels, or a Mora reserve.

A session can be straightforward: obtain the missing material, apply the upgrade, and return to questing. If the required weapon or talent materials are unavailable that day, address another genuine shortage. This prevents the inventory filling with random materials while the intended build remains incomplete.

Condensed Resin reduces the number of compatible reward runs. Under the current rules it costs 60 Original Resin to craft and allows triple rewards. It compresses routine farming; it does not create free extra energy. Check reward compatibility before converting everything, especially when your intended activity is a boss.

Use Fragile Resin with an actual objective and an understanding of the activity you have unlocked. Saving every item forever is not a progression plan, but consuming the entire reserve without a target rarely finishes the build you need either.

Current Resin claim options and reward multipliers

Post-Luna I options: ordinary claims, double rewards for 40 Resin and triple rewards using Condensed Resin crafted for 60.

When artifact farming becomes useful

Early on, suitable main stats and an upgraded weapon usually produce a clearer improvement than chasing ideal substats. Maintain a small working collection of artifacts and enhance them enough for the quests and fights you are currently doing.

Around Adventure Rank 45, systematic artifact farming at an unlocked high difficulty becomes a sensible regular project. This is an editorial planning guideline, not a rule against using artifacts earlier. Ideally, have a party capable of completing the activity, or use an appropriate Co-Op option.

Compare the whole build. Four matching set names do not fix unsuitable main stats on the sands, goblet, and circlet. For an initial functional setup, enough Energy Recharge and the wearer’s relevant scaling stat can matter more than a rare perfect-looking combination.

How levels 95 and 100 work

After level 90, a separate system uses Masterless Stella Fortuna. One item raises the cap and level to 95; another two raise the character from 95 to 100. These transitions do not require additional ordinary materials. They are not an extension of routine EXP-book farming.

Masterless Stella Fortuna is associated with receiving a Stella Fortuna for a 5-star character already at Constellation Level 6. Do not confuse it with an ordinary named Stella Fortuna. For a developing account, finish conventional upgrades on useful party members before deciding where a rare extension belongs.

Check the actual availability of Constellation-related events in the game. A reward described in historical patch notes does not establish a permanent free source. Avoid planning progression around an old event deadline or an unconfirmed future return.

Check the party before increasing world difficulty

When an Adventure Rank Ascension Quest becomes available, use it as a readiness check. Your main damage source should have a suitable weapon, relevant talents should be developed, and the party should have a working way to preserve HP. Treat the challenge as a test of a completed team rather than only a button that opens another bar.

  • Keep the materials for the next upgrade in one short plan.

  • Include a clear healing or defensive option.

  • Practice a repeatable rotation instead of using every ability without a purpose.

  • Confirm that daily rewards have been claimed, not merely made available.

  • Allocate EXP, Mora, and Resin toward finished improvements.

Returning players should also check Encounter Points. Long-Term Encounter Points can reset with a major version; Version 7.0 explicitly included such a reset. Inspect the current balance before deciding how to complete daily progress.

FAQ

Is Adventure Rank more important than character level?

They serve different purposes. Rank opens content, while characters, weapons, and talents help complete it. Develop both without letting the party fall far behind.

Should I level every new character?

No. Finish the core party first, then fund a new character when they fill a specific role or become the basis of a chosen team.

Can ordinary EXP books take a character to level 100?

The post-90 transitions use Masterless Stella Fortuna: one item to reach 95 and another two to reach 100.

How much Resin does Condensed Resin cost?

The current recipe costs 60 Original Resin and provides triple compatible rewards.

Should I immediately farm perfect artifacts?

For early progression, prioritize weapons, ascensions, and the talents you actually use. Plan extended set farming around an already functional party.
