Genshin Impact Geoculus Routes: Liyue Regions and Difficult Locations
Liyue contains 131 Geoculi, but the distance between markers tells you little about the difficulty of reaching them. A collectible on a summit may involve a long climb from below or a simple glide from a neighbouring high waypoint. Build the route around the terrain rather than the nearest icon.
Divide your collection into the plains, central mountains, southern ruins and islands. Within each area, clear higher locations before descending towards water and lower slopes. Only record confirmed pickups: uncertain marks become especially troublesome when just a few collectibles remain.
This guide provides an exploration order, explains the elevated location around Qingyun Peak and covers the Geoculus Resonance Stone. Use it alongside a map to organize the collection; it is not an individual coordinate catalogue for every Geoculus.
Prepare a route for your account
Select the Geoculus filter on the Teyvat Interactive Map and focus on one small area. Keep waypoints visible and temporarily hide unrelated resources. If you previously collected items without recording them, do not try to reconstruct the entire region from memory. Start with places you definitely missed and work through uncertain locations gradually.
Bring a party comfortable for exploration. A character for puzzles and ranged shots can be useful, and healing may make longer trips more forgiving. Special movement abilities simplify some climbs, but an expensive roster is not a requirement for collecting Geoculi.
Check stamina before a long glide, and avoid beginning an extended climb with an almost empty bar. At a narrow resting ledge, recover and look around rather than losing all your height on a final unnecessary sprint.
Divide Liyue into five collection areas
Area | Useful landmarks | Route principle |
|---|---|---|
Northern Liyue | Qingce Village and Bishui Plain | Separate valleys, slopes and distant shores |
Central plains | Wangshu Inn and Mingyun Village | Check structures and cliffs in separate passes |
Mountains | Jueyun Karst, Qingyun Peak, Mt. Aocang and Mt. Hulao | Travel from high ground towards lower areas |
Southern ruins | Luhua Pool, Dunyu Ruins and the harbour surroundings | Inspect columns, water and lower levels |
Guyun Stone Forest | Islands and their elevated outcrops | Finish an island before making the next crossing |
Qingce Village and Bishui Plain
Start from accessible waypoints and work through terraces, riverbanks and neighbouring hills. Distinguish an elevated marker from one at road level immediately: first establish a way up, then continue the circuit. For a cave location, the entrance matters more than the distance to its surface icon.
Avoid marking the entire northern area as finished with a single note. Inspecting the fields does not establish that you checked steep slopes or distant shoreline sections. Short, specific records make it possible to return to the actual gap rather than repeating a completed route.
Wangshu Inn and Mingyun Village
A convenient division separates the surroundings of Wangshu Inn from the rocky area farther east. Inspect the tops of structures before leaving for another road. When a target is below a high waypoint, descend gradually and check ledges along the way.
Around Mingyun Village, do not assume that a marker leading underground is a map error. Find the appropriate passage and compare the interior landmarks. Repeated circuits on the surface above a cave do not improve the search.
Jueyun Karst and the mountain peaks
Treat the mountains as a dedicated trip. Open the accessible high points first, then connect descending routes. Teleporting back up is often simpler than climbing the entire slope again.
Before jumping, turn the camera and check the collectible's position relative to the edge. A wrong direction can cost more time than a few seconds of preparation. When access depends on a mechanism, solve the local puzzle before planning the glide.
One underground location is inside a cave below Mt. Aocang. From the mountain waypoint, glide down towards the place where the river enters the rock and use that entrance. The Geoculus hangs inside the cavern; searching the upper slope leaves you at the wrong elevation.
Luhua Pool, Dunyu Ruins and the harbour
Ruins deserve close inspection of columns, projecting ledges and waterside structures. Make a small circuit around each group of structures before moving on. If an entrance is locked, record its access condition rather than marking the collectible as obtained.
Keep the shoreline pass separate from cliff climbs. This makes it easier to distinguish items remaining in the lower part of the area from those requiring a separate departure point above it.
Guyun Stone Forest
On the islands, identify a safe crossing and somewhere to recover stamina before setting off. After arriving, inspect the shore and high ground of that island before moving to the next. Avoid wasting stamina on unnecessary jumps immediately before a swim.
If a Geoculus is suspended high above the water, compare possible starting points on neighbouring rocks. A straight line across the sea is not necessarily the most convenient approach.

Reach the elevated location around Qingyun Peak
The three stone birds are important here. Turn the birds on Mt. Aocang, Mt. Hulao and Qingyun Peak towards the central location. A scene confirms the correct alignment. Return to the mechanism near the waypoint and activate the wind current.
Use the resulting upward route to reach the higher section. Repeated jumps from a low ledge cannot replace solving the puzzle: access to the required height is the issue. After collecting the Geoculus, make sure your record corresponds to this elevated location rather than a nearby ground-level marker.

Find the remaining Geoculi
The Geoculus Resonance Stone instructions unlock at Liyue Reputation Level 2. Learn the instructions, craft the item and use it in the region. Its blue search area narrows the location, but you still need to identify the correct height or cave entrance.
A successful search has a two-minute cooldown. After that, reusing the stone can change its target when more than one eligible Oculus remains. This can help with an awkward location, but retain your own note so you remember to return.
Inspect the area consistently: high ground above the circle, open ground, lower ledges and underground passages. This is a useful inspection routine, not a claim that every Geoculus follows that exact placement pattern.
Frequently asked questions
How many Geoculi are in Liyue?
The collection contains 131. Only mark items that you have actually collected when comparing your progress with a map.
Can the Treasure Compass find them?
Use the Geoculus Resonance Stone for Geoculi. The Geo Treasure Compass searches for treasure and does not replace the Oculus tool.
Why can the nearest waypoint be inconvenient?
It may sit below the required summit or on the opposite side of a cliff. Compare elevation and access routes, not just distance.
Where should I look inside the Resonance Stone circle?
Check different elevations, ledges and caves. The circle reduces the search area but does not automatically guide you through the terrain.
