Genshin Impact Natlan Chest Locations and Route Guide
Natlan chests are spread across the original tribal areas, later expansions, and the separate Ancient Sacred Mountain map. A single giant circuit repeatedly crosses cliffs, caves, and quest gates. Smaller area sweeps work better, especially while you are still learning local traversal.
Establish waypoints and finish quests that open important paths first. Then separate visible chests from challenges and puzzle rewards. A chest that only appears after a mechanism is easy to miss when your map displays nothing except the direct treasure categories.
This guide provides a regional route order, specific access examples, and a cleanup method. It is a plan for covering the region rather than a complete numbered inventory. Direct chest pins and the total number of obtainable reward chests are different measurements.
Choose maps and filters correctly
Map | Direct chest pins | What the figure includes |
|---|---|---|
Natlan on the main map | 449 | 126 Common, 169 Exquisite, 60 Precious, 25 Luxurious, 69 Remarkable |
Ancient Sacred Mountain | 32 | 10 Common, 15 Exquisite, 1 Precious, 6 Remarkable |
These are the corresponding map categories as checked on 15 October 2026. Do not use their sum of 481 as a complete Natlan chest total. Some rewards are represented under puzzles, challenges, and other activities instead. Compare individual markers rather than trying to force your personal chest counter to match this number.
For an initial pass, display the selected area’s chests, waypoints, and relevant entrances. Add local puzzles and challenges during a second pass. Select Ancient Sacred Mountain separately; zooming the main map does not replace switching maps.
A regional Natlan chest route
Stage | Area | Main objective |
|---|---|---|
1 | Tequemecan Valley and Basin of Unnumbered Flames | Establish waypoints and clear accessible surface groups |
2 | Coatepec Mountain and Toyac Springs | Separate high platforms, ravines, and coastal routes |
3 | Tezcatepetonco Range and Quahuacan Cliff | Use local Saurians and inspect gated mechanisms |
4 | Ochkanatlan | Open ruin routes before pursuing complicated rewards |
5 | Atocpan and Ancient Sacred Mountain | Track the mainland and separate map independently |
6 | Easybreeze Holiday Resort | Give it a dedicated pass after the older areas |
This order is convenient for a fresh exploration run, not a mandatory quest sequence. If you have already cleared much of the region, start with a small area containing identifiable omissions. Build a session around one valley or cave network rather than isolated high-rarity chests at opposite ends of Natlan.
On cliffs, enter from useful high ground and inspect ledges as you descend. In ravines, establish the entrance before following the marker. Combine nearby coastal islands into one trip. Mark a chest only after opening it and receiving its reward.
A complicated example: Ochkanatlan’s furnaces
One notable Ochkanatlan reward involves five Furnaces of Fiery Embers. Visit and activate the furnace locations around the central ruins first. Afterward, return to the sword between rocks in the central area and interact with it. The next part of the route leads to a high platform containing the reward.
Do not begin by trying to climb directly to the final treasure icon. The sequence of mechanisms matters here. If the interaction is unavailable, recheck the five furnaces: visiting an island does not mean its mechanism is complete. The illustration matches the starting locations with the final platform.

Five red circles mark the furnaces; the purple circle marks the central return point for the sword.
Quests that change access
The Luxurious Chest pictured below in the Easybreeze Holiday Resort area requires completion of The Last Survivor of Tenochtzitoc. If its room or approach remains blocked, record it as deferred and continue with accessible locations. Searching the outside wall repeatedly does not replace the related quest.
Keep a short return list containing the area, nearest waypoint, and reason for postponement. Revisit that list once the quest chain is complete, rather than repeating cleared surface groups. During new quests, inspect side rooms and newly opened exits before teleporting away.

Check quest access before repeating an exterior search for the entrance.
The compass, Saurians, and Pyro Sigils
The Pyro Treasure Compass helps with missed chests. Check its Natlan reputation reward requirements and craft it after learning the diagram. The Pyroculus Resonance Stone serves a different purpose: it searches for Oculi, so it cannot validate a chest checklist.
Saurian abilities help reach objects and solve local tasks. Look for available Indwelling points before committing to a long climb with an ordinary character. Comfortable healing and a party that handles local enemies without constant switching make the route smoother.
Pyro Sigils earned during exploration contribute to Tona’s Flame. Offerings provide a separate progression track, but they do not prove that every chest in an area has been found. Keep reward-system progress, exploration percentage, and individual opened objects distinct.
Clean up without repeating the whole region
Compare remaining direct chest pins within one small area.
Add challenge and puzzle filters skipped during your first pass.
Finish deferred quests and inspect the rooms they open.
Check elevation: a platform and cave can overlap on a flat map.
Use the compass during a local sweep, then mark actual rewards.
Switch to Ancient Sacred Mountain and check its separate list.
If some markers were completed from memory, do not erase the entire record. Recheck the uncertain group using its entrance, surroundings, and reward state. A note saying “checked but still locked” is more useful than a false “collected” mark. Inaccurate records are often what send players around the same route again.
FAQ
How many chests are in Natlan?
The 449 and 32 figures describe direct chest-category pins on two maps. They exclude rewards represented by other puzzle categories and are not a complete in-game total.
Must I finish every quest first?
No. Collect accessible rewards and record blocked locations for a return trip. Open quest routes before the final cleanup.
Why did the compass not finish my search?
It does not complete quests or mechanisms for you. Check access requirements and separate puzzle categories as well as direct chests.
Do these counts include Pyroculi?
No. Oculi are a different collectible category with their own checklist.
Is the original Natlan map enough?
Not for region-wide coverage. Later expansions and Ancient Sacred Mountain need dedicated passes.
