Nod-Krai chest hunting extends beyond the original three islands. Later expansions added more mainland areas, while part of the later exploration uses the separate Frost Moon map. A Hiisi, Lempo, and Paha circuit remains a useful starting point, but it no longer covers the whole available region.

The Luna Treasure Compass is the key local tool. As Meeting Points develop, it unlocks abilities to display treasure, Oculi, and relevant clues. Preparing this tool and progressing access quests can be more useful than another blind trip around the shoreline.

This guide covers a regional exploration order, compass progression, and representative difficult locations. Direct chest markers are kept separate from puzzle rewards. That distinction keeps map coverage and actual chest completion separate.

Select the right Nod-Krai map filters

The table describes Nod-Krai on the main map as checked on 15 October 2026. It is not the total number of chests available in the region: puzzles and other activities can hold rewards under their own categories. The separate Frost Moon map is not included in these 248 pins.

Start with chests, waypoints, and entrances. Add local challenges and mechanisms in a separate pass. Keep collected, access-blocked, and unchecked states distinct. During cleanup, a precise note about a blocked entrance is more useful than many markers completed from memory.

Start with islands and Meeting Points

Completing the Archon Quest Song of the Dragon and Freedom unlocks a waypoint south of Nasha Town. Establish nearby waypoints and begin on the island where you are already questing. Avoid crossing the entire region for one Luxurious Chest while nearby groups remain unchecked.

For the first Meeting Points, complete Where the Moon Rises and the associated World Quests To the Lighthouse, Problem-Sorting Robot, and Blessings of the Frost Moon. These unlock development at Final Night Cemetery, Clink-Clank Krumkake Craftshop, and Frostmoon Enclave. Contribute Luna Sigils and check which compass abilities have become available.

Frostmoon Enclave is a Meeting Point in Nod-Krai. It is not the separate Frost Moon exploration map opened through Moon Gazing. Similar names do not imply identical access conditions, territory, or chest lists.

A regional exploration order

The expanded areas include The Witch’s Garden, Favonius Keep, and Cliffwatch Camp Meeting Points. Their associated quests are Witch’s Lodge, On This Intoxicating Night, and The Moonlit Watcher. Develop these systems alongside exploration so that return trips to older sectors benefit from improved tools.

Within an island, make a connected surface pass first, then inspect interiors and high locations. Record the entrance to a structure instead of only the reward’s flat-map position. A roof may be easier to approach from a quest-unlocked waypoint than from the shoreline below.

Example: a terminal and combat challenge

One Luxurious Chest requires activating a terminal and defeating four Landcruisers. Find the device in front of the area, interact with it, and complete the entire encounter. If the chest remains locked, check that all four enemies have been defeated and none is standing outside your field of view.

Do not confuse this marker with nearby challenges that have different starting mechanisms and enemy counts. Closely grouped industrial icons do not necessarily describe a single event. Match the terminal, building, and chest against the illustration, then mark only the reward you actually received.

Activate the terminal and complete its associated challenge first.

Example: the Design Bureau roof

Another Luxurious reward sits at the top of the Design Bureau, below a Lunoculus. The closest convenient waypoint is associated with The Shoemaker’s Children Go Barefoot in the East of the Moon, West of the Sun quest series. If you are following that chain, check the upper part of the building before leaving.

The chest and Oculus are separate targets here. Collecting the higher object does not finish the reward on the level below. Inspect the roof and neighboring platforms before descending, then update the two checklists independently. This prevents the common mistake of completing an entire marker cluster after one pickup.

Use the Luna Treasure Compass for cleanup

1. Check Meeting Point progression and the compass abilities already unlocked.

2. Choose one area rather than the whole region at once.

3. Compare displayed clues with your unchecked locations.

4. If no reward is visible, inspect the mechanism, floor, and unfinished quests.

5. Mark the chest after opening it, then move to the next group.

6. Return to deferred locations when new paths become available.

The compass does not complete a puzzle or open a quest door for you. A reward being absent from the immediate surface does not automatically mean the navigation is wrong. Check access and nearby clues first. Search becomes faster when every return trip has a specific purpose instead of another hope that the treasure will now be visible.
