Assassination Rogue DPS Guide
Assassination Rogue Overview

Assassination Rogues are damage dealers who excel in applying bleeds and poisons to slowly dismantle their enemies over time. While they may not match the burst of Subtlety or the speed of Outlaw, their methodical playstyle shines in single-target and execute phases.
This specialization uses Combo Points and Energy, placing a strong emphasis on maintaining DoTs and lining up cooldowns for big damage windows. The slow ramp-up rewards strategic planning and consistent uptime.

Strengths:
High single-target and melee cleave damage thanks to powerful DoTs.
Caustic Spatter allows cleave without sacrificing single-target pressure.
Strong utility, mobility, and very competitive execute phase with Zoldyck Recipe and Blindside.
Slower pacing makes it beginner-friendly, ideal for progression.
Weaknesses:
Demanding AoE rotation in Mythic+ requires skill and familiarity.
Long ramp-up time limits burst damage in short fights.
Patch 11.1 Notes:
No changes were introduced to Assassination Rogue in Patch 11.1.
Hero Talents: Fatebound vs. Deathstalker
Fatebound focuses on Hand of Fate and a straightforward approach that enhances Poison effects. While easier to play, it falls behind in AoE, making it less suited for Mythic+ or cleave-heavy fights.
Deathstalker emphasizes Deathstalker's Mark and Darkest Night to deal devastating blows. It is the preferred tree for high-end content due to superior damage scaling.
Rotation Overview:
Keep uptime on Garrote and Rupture at all times to activate Venomous Wounds for Energy regen.
Use Cut to the Chase to maintain Slice and Dice passively.
Apply Crimson Tempest and Caustic Spatter in AoE scenarios for sustained cleave.
Line up Deathmark, Kingsbane, Vanish, Shiv, and Improved Garrote for massive burst windows.
Carefully manage Combo Points and Energy, especially during AoE, to avoid stalling.
Stat Priority: Agility is king. From there, focus on:
Critical Strike ≈ Mastery
Haste > Versatility Item level upgrades typically outweigh minor stat optimizations.
Professions:
Leatherworking: Great for crafting armor close to BiS.
Alchemy: Self-made consumables.
Enchanting: Enhance your gear without Auction House reliance.
Recommended Races:
Horde: Orc (damage boost), Goblin (mobility)
Alliance: Night Elf (utility), Dwarf (defensive utility) Race choice is minor in impact—choose what you enjoy.
