Blacksmithing Overview Guide: Perks, Gold-Making, and Changes for MoP Classic

Learning Blacksmithing in Mists of Pandaria Classic
In Mists of Pandaria Classic, Blacksmithing can be trained up to skill level 600 in your faction’s main city—Stormwind for Alliance or Orgrimmar for Horde. Alternatively, Zen Master Blacksmithing trainers are located in Paw-don Village within the Jade Forest.
You must reach level 80 before you can begin training Zen Master Blacksmithing.
For detailed step-by-step guidance, check out the comprehensive Blacksmithing Leveling Guide.

Alliance Blacksmithing Trainer
Alliance players can learn Blacksmithing up to Zen Master level from Borgus Steelhand in Stormwind City.

Horde players train their Blacksmithing skills up to Zen Master with Borgosh Corebender in Orgrimmar.
Reasons to Pick Blacksmithing in MoP Classic
Blacksmithing Profession Bonuses in Mists of Pandaria
Blacksmiths gain access to socketed gloves and bracers, offering bonuses comparable to other crafting professions.
Notable Blacksmithing Creations in MoP Classic
As a Blacksmith, you can craft many useful items both for personal use and for other players, such as:
Ghostly Skeleton Key: Unlocks boxes requiring up to 500 lockpicking skill.
Living Steel Weapon Chain: A new chain for weapons.
Ghost Iron Shield Spike: A fresh shield spike design.
Making Gold with Blacksmithing in Mists of Pandaria Classic
Blacksmithing is a lucrative profession, allowing you to craft highly sought-after gear like plate armor, weapons, and useful accessories.
Depending on the price of Ghost Iron Bars, Blacksmithing can also provide valuable materials for disenchanting. For example, crafting a Spiritguard Belt only requires 7 Ghost Iron Bars.
Tip: When selling expensive armor, consider linking the item in Trade chat from your Spell Book before crafting to find buyers directly, rather than relying solely on the Auction House.
During leveling, if your goal is to reach skill 600 quickly, you'll need one Spirit of Harmony to buy a recipe for PvP gear. While the cheapest leveling path involves plans requiring 7 Ghost Iron Bars (such as Contender's Revenant Belt), purchasing Contender's Revenant Legplates may be better for gold-making, as the market tends to be less crowded.
Blacksmithing Specializations in MoP Classic
Blacksmithing specializations were removed during Cataclysm, which meant players missed crafting unique Burning Crusade weapons during Cataclysm's final year. However, in Phase 2 of Mists of Pandaria, new plans have been introduced that resemble those classic TBC-style weapons.
Best Second Profession to Pair with Blacksmithing
Mining is a natural companion profession for Blacksmithing. It allows you to gather your own materials and smelt ores into bars, reducing your crafting costs without needing to farm.
However, Mining doesn’t provide many perks outside material gathering. If your Blacksmith is intended for raiding or PvP, you might prefer pairing Blacksmithing with Jewelcrafting or Engineering, which offer more versatile benefits.
