Holy Priest Overview TWW

i-10

Holy Priests are versatile healers delivering strong single-target and decent AoE healing via powerful Holy Words: Holy Word: Sanctify and Holy Word: Serenity. During Apotheosis, cooldowns on these abilities are greatly reduced, allowing free, rapid casts that heal more, especially when combined with the Archon Hero Talent. These spells also apply a Healing-over-Time effect thanks to the specialization’s Mastery: Echo of Light.

Stat Priority: Intellect, Crit, Mastery, Versatility, Haste

Patch 11.1 Changes

The Holy Priest received some updates in Patch 11.1. Holy Word: Salvation and Circle of Healing were removed. New talents now enhance Renew, such as Empowered Renew, which increases healing and provides cooldown reduction for Holy Word: Sanctify.

Additional talents—Light in the Darkness, Holy Celerity, and Eternal Sanctity—strengthen Holy Words. Eternal Sanctity extends Apotheosis duration when casting Holy Words, increasing uptime.

Holy Priests now excel as raid healers with strong sustained healing and powerful combos using Apotheosis and Archon’s Halo.

Hero Talents: Archon vs Oracle

Holy Priests choose between Archon and Oracle talent trees:

  • Archon: Focuses on empowering Halo casts and improving Apotheosis effectiveness for burst healing.

  • Oracle: Uses Premonition to boost future casts. Premonition of Insight reduces cooldowns, Piety increases healing and redirects overhealing, and Solace grants a large damage absorption shield plus damage reduction. At cycle end, Premonition grants all three buffs simultaneously.

Healing with Holy Priests is less about fixed rotations and more about prioritizing key abilities. In dungeons, your focus will lean toward single-target healing, while in raids, AoE healing becomes more important. Adjust your Holy Word usage accordingly for optimal results.

Holy Priests follow three main rules:

  1. Keep Holy Words on cooldown: Holy Word: Serenity and Holy Word: Sanctify are your strongest healing tools and should be used frequently. You can save them briefly to hit predictable damage spikes but avoid holding onto multiple stacks unnecessarily.

  2. Balance AoE and single-target healing: Holy Priests have versatile builds with solid AoE and focused healing options. In progression raids, “spot-healing” is often valuable, letting you support the most vulnerable players rather than spreading healing evenly.

  3. Flexible Mythic+ healing: The Lightweaver talent increases the healing of both Heal and Prayer of Healing. Maintain multiple stacks of Lightweaver and spend them based on whether AoE or single-target healing is needed.

Gearing a Holy Priest

For raids, the general stat priority is Critical Strike = Mastery > Versatility ≥ Haste. Intellect remains important, and often a higher item level outweighs perfectly optimized secondary stats.

Using simulation tools like Questionably Epic Live is highly recommended to personalize your gear choices.

Professions

Professions provide minimal performance advantages this season, so any can work. Tailoring is useful to craft armor close to Best-in-Slot gear, while Alchemy lets you produce your own consumables. Enchanting allows self-enchanting gear without reliance on the Auction House.

Race Choices

Holy Priests can be any race on both Horde and Alliance.

For optimal mobility and crowd control, Dracthyr and Goblin are top choices. However, all races remain viable with no significant drawbacks.
