Lorewalking Overview and Rewards

Lorewalking is a fresh feature introduced in Patch 11.1.7 that brings World of Warcraft’s history to life. Think of it like a scenario where you participate in legendary Azerothian events, either as yourself or by stepping into the shoes of key characters. For instance, you might wield Frostmourne as Arthas or become a faceless minion in Ny’alotha.

Currently, there are three distinct lorewalking questlines, each designed to revisit some of the most memorable episodes from Azeroth’s past.

How to Begin Lorewalking

Players level 10 and above can start their lorewalking adventure by talking to Lorewalker Cho. He can be found in three major cities: Stormwind, Orgrimmar, and Dornogal.

• In Stormwind: Cho stands just north of the Dwarven District.
  Coordinates: 64.22, 16.08

• In Orgrimmar: Look for him near the zeppelin towers in the city center.
  Coordinates: 54.46, 57.23

• In Dornogal: He is located north, just outside Foundation Hall.
  Coordinates: 46.37, 49.90

After meeting Lorewalker Cho, you’ll select from one of three repeatable quest chains. You can complete all three, but you must finish one chain before starting the next.

Available Lorewalking Quests

As mentioned, you can choose which lorewalking questline to pursue. While engaged in one, you cannot complete other quests in your quest log. To pause or stop lorewalking, simply speak with Lorewalker Cho again.

Lorewalking: The Lich King

This questline chronicles the life of Arthas Menethil, beginning with his early days and following his tragic rise and fall as the Lich King. Completing the full chain rewards you with the Royal Visage toy. Using this toy transforms you into a ghostly version of Arthas in full Lich King armor for 10 minutes.

Lorewalking: Ethereals

This story begins in Netherstorm with a battle against Dimensius the All-Devouring. It continues to reveal the tale of Alleria Windrunner and concludes with the enigmatic Venari from the Shadowlands. Finishing this questline grants the K’aresh Memory Crystal toy, which transforms you into either an Ethereal or Broker for 10 minutes.

Lorewalking: Xal’atath

The Xal’atath storyline starts with the shadow priest artifact quest from Legion, sharing eerie whispers you can hear from Lorewalker Cho—echoes once heard by shadow priests. The quest continues with the blade’s rediscovery during Battle for Azeroth and reveals the origins of Xal’atath. Completing this series awards the Echo of the Xal’atath, Blade of the Black Empire toy. This toy lasts for an hour and occasionally triggers whispers when you kill enemies.

Lorewalking Rewards

Finishing any of the lorewalking questlines will grant you a Lorewalker’s Crate of Memorabilia. Inside the crate are explorer-themed gear pieces that share appearances with older transmog sets, adding unique and nostalgic options to your collection.
