Priest and Paladin Buff Mechanic

At the dungeon’s entrance and final boss room, there are orbs of light interactable by Priests or Paladins. Activating these grants a 30-minute Blessing of the Sacred Flame buff. This buff gives your attacks and spells a chance to trigger extra AoE holy damage, boosting overall DPS. The buff drops on death but orbs remain, so players can rebuff if needed.

Captain Dailcry Trash Overview

Arathi Footman
Use crowd control to interrupt Defend, which buffs nearby allies.

Fervent Sharpshooter
Shoots random targets with Pot Shot and Shoot; be cautious if this overlaps with other damage. Occasionally disengages and places four Caltrops—avoid these.

Arathi Knight
Immune to crowd control. Disrupting Shout damages all players—stop casting before it triggers. Impale targets a random player; use defensives if combined with Disrupting Shout.

Devout Priest
Interrupt every Greater Heal. Use spare interrupts on random Holy Smite casts.

Fanatical Conjuror
Interrupt random Fireball casts. Avoid Flamestrike circles.

War Lynx
Pounces the furthest player, applying bleed. Have someone bait and use CC or movement to avoid.

Lightspawn
Immune to crowd control. Purification targets random players—use defensives if targeted. At 25% health, casts Burst of Light, damaging both players and mobs. Spread out to mitigate.

Lieutenant Mechanics and Their Trusted Guards

Three named Lieutenants appear throughout the first area. Defeating one calls a specific Trusted Guard away from the boss. Only two Trusted Guards can engage players at once, so you can choose which to fight alongside the boss by selecting which Lieutenants to kill.

Guard Captain Suleyman
Immune to crowd control. Uses Shield Slam targeting the tank—avoid knocking the tank into trash. Thunderclap hits all players—use defensives if it overlaps with other damage. On death, calls Sergeant Shaynemail to engage.

Sergeant Shaynemail
Immune to crowd control. Lunging Strike targets random players; spread out to avoid cleave bleed. Use movement to dodge the airborne charge. Avoid Brutal Smash AoE.

Forge Master Damian
Immune to crowd control. Seal of Flame buffs his attacks—tanks should prepare for extra damage. Heat Wave hits all players—use defensives if it overlaps and dispel the Magic slow if needed. On death, calls Elaena Emberlanz.

Elaena Emberlanz
Immune to crowd control. Divine Judgment targets the tank—dispel the Magic debuff. Holy Radiance channels energy—use healing or defensives as needed. Recommended to skip this Lieutenant to face Taener Duelmal instead.

High Priest Aemya
Immune to crowd control. Interrupt Holy Smite. Reflective Shield causes players to take 40% of their damage as holy damage—use defensives carefully. On death, calls Taener Duelmal.

Taener Duelmal
Immune to crowd control. Interrupt Cinderblast targeting the tank; dispel if missed. Interrupt Fireball on random players. Avoid Ember Storm circles.

Captain Dailcry Boss Fight

This boss fight requires at least one Trusted Guard. Guards gain Bound by Fate near the boss, increasing health and sharing damage. The guard despawns on boss death, so cleaving it is optional.

Taener Duelmal is the preferred guard because his Fireball damage is low, needing fewer interrupts except on Cinderblast. This means killing Guard Captain Suleyman and Forge Master Damian is ideal.

The boss casts Battle Cry—assign a player to interrupt it to prevent damage and enrage on the guard. Hurl Spear is a line attack on random players—avoid it.

At full energy, the boss uses Savage Mauling, immobilizing a target while channeling hits. Break the boss's absorb shield to stop this. Targets should use defensives here.

The tank should mitigate Pierce Armor hits and the applied bleed with defensives and cleanses.

Baron Braunpyke Trash

Zealous Templar
Has Templar's Wrath, a Magic buff—use purges if possible. Tanks should prepare for Seal of Light's Fury and Templar's Wrath overlap.

Ardent Paladin
Immune to crowd control. Avoid Consecration circles under the mob. Sacred Toll hits the whole group—use defensives if overlapping with other damage.

Baron Braunpyke Boss Fight

This fight has many player-targeted ground effects that hit multiple players. The best approach is to stay grouped, baiting these effects into the same area, then moving together to avoid damage.

Vindictive Wrath activates at 100 energy, increasing all spell damage for 20 seconds—be ready for stronger attacks.

Hammer of Purity drops AoEs under 3 (or 5 when empowered) random players, spawning spinning hammers that spiral outward. Stack the group on one side and run across the room when this happens to minimize space used.

Sacrificial Pyre spawns a dangerous circle that explodes after 30 seconds unless soaked. Players soaking take raid damage and get a Sacrificial Flame stack which knocks them back. Normally 3 soaks clear it; empowered requires 5. Rotate soakers and use immunities to avoid heavy DoT buildup. Tanks can safely soak twice with defensives.

Burning Light is a key interrupt. When empowered, the cast time is halved—quick reaction needed to prevent boss healing.

Castigator's Shield targets 3 (or all 5 when empowered) random players, slowing and damaging them, leaving AoEs that explode after a few seconds. Group and move as a unit to avoid damage.

Prioress Murrpray Trash

Risen Mage
Interrupt every Fireball Volley cast and use spare interrupts on single-target Fireball. Beware these mobs explode with Light Expulsion on death, dealing AoE damage—avoid killing too many at once.

Risen Footman
Also explodes with Light Expulsion on death—kill them staggered.

Sir Braunpyke
Immune to crowd control. Constant Radiant Flame damage to players—healers should be ready for high throughput. Blazing Strike targets the tank—use defensives as needed.

Prioress Murrpray Boss Fight

Fight the Prioress on the lower platform until 50% health. Interrupt Holy Smite to reduce tank damage. Avoid the Holy Flame circle spawned under random players and the Purify beam fixated on one player, which deals heavy damage and leaves flames. Tank the boss to one side and have the beam target kite straight back to save space.

Inner Fire buff causes increased holy damage and AoE pulses lasting 12 seconds. It’s dangerous combined with Blinding Light, which disorients players after 4 seconds and deals group damage. Always turn away before Blinding Light ends, and pop group or personal defensives if it overlaps with Inner Fire.

At 50% health, the boss jumps to the upper platform, summons adds, gains an absorb shield, and channels Embrace the Light. Break the shield quickly with damage CDs or Bloodlust to stop heavy damage pulses.

Adds attack from both sides, melee players, and pulse AoE damage with Overwhelming Power. Use AoE roots, knockbacks, slows, or stuns to control adds during the channel phase.

After interrupting, the boss resumes initial abilities on the upper platform.

Summary and Tips

  • Use Priest/Paladin buffs at orbs in the courtyard and final boss room for extra AoE holy damage. These buffs last 30 minutes but are lost on death; orbs never despawn.

  • Interrupt key spells like Greater Heal, Holy Smite, Fireball, Battle Cry, and Burning Light.

  • Pay attention to group positioning to avoid overlapping AoEs—stack and move as a unit when needed.

  • Use defensives and immunities strategically during high-damage phases and unavoidable damage.

  • Control adds with crowd control abilities to ease damage and healing pressure.

  • Choose your Trusted Guard wisely when fighting Captain Dailcry; Taener Duelmal is preferred for fewer interrupt demands.

  • Keep cooldowns coordinated during boss shields and empowered phases to minimize damage and break shields quickly.

Following these tactics will help you and your group successfully clear the Priory of the Sacred Flame on Mythic+ difficulty while managing damage and mechanics efficiently.
