Vengeance Demon Hunters Overview

Vengeance Demon Hunters are agile, dual-wielding tanks who blend mobility, self-sustain, and utility. They are unique in that their mitigation stems from frequent defensive cooldowns and reactive healing based on damage taken. Starting at level 8 due to their Hero Class status, they are limited to Blood Elf (Horde) or Night Elf (Alliance).

Strengths and Weaknesses

Vengeance excels in burst threat generation and physical mitigation, especially in AoE. With constant cooldown availability and consistent damage output, they are strong solo players. Chaos Brand adds raid utility, while mobility tools like Glide and Sigils enhance their control.

However, their defensive toolkit requires careful timing and juggling, as most of their mitigation is short-term and target-based. Without proper timing, environmental damage and burst windows can catch them off guard.

Hero Talents: Aldrachi Reaver vs. Fel-Scarred

Aldrachi Reaver emphasizes priority target damage and self-sustain. After collecting 20 Souls, Throw Glaive becomes Reaver’s Glaive, triggering buffs. Fracture and Soul Cleave gain bonus effects depending on their order of use. In AoE, prioritize placing Reaver’s Mark on the toughest enemy to maximize uptime.

Fel-Scarred favors cooldown-heavy gameplay, with Metamorphosis resetting several abilities. Damage and defense are strong across all content types, but proper timing is essential—holding cooldowns reduces its effectiveness.

Rotation and Gameplay

Vengeance follows a builder-spender style with two resources: Fury and Souls.

  • In single-target, focus on avoiding Fury overcap while casting Soul Cleave regularly.

  • In AoE, prioritize Spirit Bomb at 4+ Souls, then dump excess Fury.

Always aim to use cooldowns on time unless you need to delay briefly for survival. Over-delaying reduces your effective casts in longer encounters.

Gear and Stats

Item level reigns supreme when gearing. Between items of equal level, prioritize: Haste = Critical Strike > Versatility > Mastery

Sim your character for offensive performance using tools like Raidbots, as optimal stat weights can vary.

Professions and Races

Professions have minimal performance impact. Leatherworking, Alchemy, or Enchanting offer the most utility. Race choice is limited—Blood Elves for Horde, Night Elves for Alliance.

Patch 11.1 Highlights

Patch 11.1 introduced a longer Demon Spikes duration and reduced Feed the Demon to one point, enhancing build flexibility. AoE tuning reduced Fel-Scarred’s cleave potential, while Aldrachi Reaver’s Wounded Quarry can now funnel damage into a single target. Overall, Vengeance saw general damage and threat tuning increases.

Stay agile, plan your mitigation carefully, and master your resource flow to thrive as a Vengeance Demon Hunter in The War Within.
