When Does Marvel Rivals Season 2 Start?
Season 2 — titled Hellfire Gala — officially launched on April 11, 2025. Alongside its stylish mutant theme, the update introduces new mechanics, a new hero, and one of the biggest patches since launch.
New Hero: Emma Frost
Emma Frost joins the Vanguard roster as a powerful dual-form hero. In Human Form, she controls mid-range fights with psychic beams and barriers. In Diamond Form, she becomes a CC-immune bruiser who can slam, isolate, and shut down enemy threats. Her ultimate, Psionic Seduction, mind-controls enemies and disables their abilities — perfect for turning teamfights.

Ranked Mode Changes in Season 2
Marvel Rivals Season 2 makes big adjustments to Competitive play:
Ranked unlock level raised from 10 to 15
Pick/Ban phase now starts at Gold III instead of Diamond
Duo limits applied to top-tier players (Eternity/One Above All can only solo/duo)
Performance-based MMR: playing well can now reduce point loss or increase gains

Ranked Reset in Season 2
Season 2 kicks off with a full rank reset: every player drops nine divisions. For example, Diamond I becomes Silver I. The developers shared the April rank distribution, helping players understand where they’ll likely fall post-reset.

New Competitive Map Rotation
Season 2 introduces map rotations for Ranked and Tournament modes:
New Map Added: Krakoa – Hellfire Gala
Removed from Ranked: Yggsgard (Royal Palace), Tokyo 2099 (Shin-Shibuya)
All maps remain available in Quick Match and Custom Games, so you can still practice your favorites.
New Map: Krakoa – The Mutant Island
Inspired by X-Men lore, Krakoa is the newest competitive map. Its layout features a balance of open spaces and tight corners — ideal for both long-range and brawl-heavy compositions. Whether you play Emma, Hulk, or Psylocke, you’ll find plenty of terrain advantages here.
New Battle Pass and Weekly Challenges
Season 2 includes a brand-new free Battle Pass filled with Hellfire Gala-themed cosmetics, mission challenges, and in-game currency. Expect daily and weekly missions that push players to try new heroes and team comps.

Doctor Strange: nerfed damage, potential survivability buff
Magneto: ult now charges slower
The Thing: shield mitigation lowered
