MoP Classic Phase 5: Siege of Orgrimmar and Gearing Guide

ByTardius

Last Updated:20 Oct 2026

Mists of Pandaria Classic Phase 5 launched on June 2, 2026 with regional maintenance. Siege of Orgrimmar opened globally on June 4. The update brings Timeless Isle, the legendary cloak finale, five world bosses, PvP Season 14 and Proving Grounds, while its new dungeon seasons followed later in June.

Checked on October 20, 2026, this guide covers the Classic version. Siege has Normal and Heroic difficulties for 10 or 25 players. Neither Raid Finder nor a separate Flexible difficulty is available. A historical Flex gearing ladder, LFR wing schedule or Retail Mythic table will send you to content that this version does not offer.

For a returning level 90, the useful route is to repair weak slots on Timeless Isle, work on Wrathion, then target Season 3 Celestial Dungeon purchases and join Normal Siege. An established raider should focus on Tier 16, strong trinket effects and efficient upgrades rather than replacing every older item immediately.

Timeless Isle: get there and fix the weakest slots

Look for A Flash of Bronze when entering your faction's Pandaria shrine. It sends you to Chromie outside the Seat of Knowledge in the Vale of Eternal Blossoms. Journey to the Timeless Isle supplies an item that teleports you to the island. You can also approach from the southeastern coast of the Jade Forest, but flying stops on the island itself.

Start with the introductory quests and accessible treasure chests, then join nearby rare kills. Timeless armour tokens create item level 496 equipment suited to the recipient. Unopened account-bound tokens are useful for alts; check the armour type, recipient and loot specialisation before using them. Once opened, the resulting equipment is bound to that character.

Burden of Eternity is a separate step. Apply it to an eligible unopened Timeless armour token to create a 535 piece. It does not upgrade a 496 item you have already opened and equipped. Send a suitable token to the intended alt first. Timeless Curio trinkets cannot be improved with a Burden.

Use a Burden where 535 solves a real problem. A weak belt may be a good target; a slot about to complete a Celestial or raid tier bonus may be a poor one. Random secondary stats also mean that a higher displayed level does not guarantee the best combination for your build.

Coins, vendors and a repeatable island visit

Timeless Coins come from creatures, treasures, quests and events. Mistweaver Ai near the Celestial Court sells equipment supplies; Mistweaver Ku handles Emperor Shaohao reputation rewards. Their catalogues serve different goals.

Ai's Burden of Eternity costs 50,000 Timeless Coins. His item level 535 trinkets also cost 50,000 each. These are optional purchases, not a required entry fee for Siege. A targeted Celestial trinket may be a better investment of play time, so compare its effect before committing to a long coin grind.

Keep enough coins for your active Wrathion step before spending on a Burden or a collectible. Avoid gambling all your savings on random caches when a specific missing item is the goal. The island supports rapid early improvements, but its ordinary 496 tokens are not a complete endgame set.

Rares and treasure routes reward exploration rather than one mandatory daily circuit. Many important chests are one-time finds per character, so do not assume every marked treasure resets each day. Huolon is a collection target for the Thundering Onyx Cloud Serpent; a kill is not a guaranteed mount. Join a nearby spawn when convenient instead of abandoning a planned dungeon group to wait indefinitely.

For regular visits, combine the elite daily Path of the Mistwalker with a relevant weekly objective such as Strong Enough to Survive. Emperor Shaohao reputation mainly comes from killing eligible yaungol; opening random chests is not a substitute for that grind. Shaohao is chiefly a reputation and collection goal, not a prerequisite for entering Siege.

The Celestial Tournament is separate weekly pet-battle content. Its Celestial Coins are not Timeless Coins. Bloody Coins likewise belong to the island's optional PvP system, not the armour-vendor currency.

MoP Classic Phase 5: Siege of Orgrimmar and Gearing Guide

A short island route that keeps gear, legendary progress and collections separate

Five world bosses do not mean five weekly loot rolls

Chi-Ji, Niuzao, Xuen and Yu'lon take turns in the Celestial Court. They share the same weekly loot opportunity: killing all four does not grant four independent equipment rewards. Their PvE rewards include item level 553 Tier 16 gloves and legs. The four kills still matter individually when Wrathion's quest asks you to defeat every Celestial.

Ordos is a separate world boss with 559 non-tier equipment. To enter his sanctuary and receive loot, at least one character on your Battle.net account must have earned the legendary cloak. This access extends to your other characters; an epic cloak from Chapter IV is not enough. Reaching the plateau with a movement trick does not bypass the eligibility requirement.

Once eligible, include Ordos alongside your weekly Celestial opportunity. Treat both as chances to improve your gear, not guaranteed replacements for a particular slot. Raid and dungeon purchases provide a more controllable progression plan.

Siege of Orgrimmar: what a raid group needs to know

The entrance is in the broken pillar before Mogu'shan Palace in the Vale, not at Orgrimmar's city gate. The raid starts under the corrupted Vale and continues through the Horde capital to Garrosh Hellscream. Both factions use this progression route.

There are 14 encounters. The early stretch runs from Immerseus through Sha of Pride, then the assault moves through Galakras, the city's defences and deeper strongholds. The final sequence includes Siegecrafter Blackfuse, Paragons of the Klaxxi and Garrosh. Progression is mostly linear, with some routing choice after Malkorok; this is not an overview that requires learning every boss strategy before the first pull.

Normal and Heroic are available in 10- and 25-player formats. There is no additional Heroic wing calendar, Flex queue or LFR release schedule. Plan against the group's weekly raid save and roster rather than expecting freely repeatable Retail loot eligibility.

Raid difficulty

Base loot

Warforged loot

Normal, 10 or 25 players

553

559

Heroic, 10 or 25 players

566

572

These are base raid values, before upgrades. Warforged is an item variant, not another difficulty, and it does not automatically make a piece best in slot. Tier bonuses, weapon quality and trinket effects remain central to deciding what to equip.

Tier 16 and rewards worth planning around

Tier 16 changes the gearing objective from simply raising average item level to assembling useful set bonuses. The main token sources are Sha of Pride for chest, General Nazgrim for gloves, Thok for helm, Siegecrafter Blackfuse for shoulders and Paragons of the Klaxxi for legs. Garrosh can also drop an Essence exchangeable for any Tier 16 slot.

Exchange the correct class token on the second-floor balconies of your faction shrine. Alliance vendors are Clarice Chapmann for Normal and Lorry Warmheart for Heroic; Horde vendors are Ki'agnuu and Tu'aho Pathcutter respectively. Celestial Tier 16 purchases have a lower item level and must not be presented as the same version as Normal raid tokens.

Strong raid trinkets and weapons are the longer-term targets after initial catch-up. Compare set bonuses before breaking an effective older combination for a single off-set upgrade. For collectors, Glory of the Orgrimmar Raider awards Spawn of Galakras through its achievement requirements. This is a different objective from simply killing the boss named Galakras.

Celestial Dungeons: the targeted bridge into Normal

Season 3 Celestial Dungeons are the repeatable five-player route to Siege-associated 528 gear. Their rewards replace the missing LFR equipment route; a linked database item may show the 553 raid version even though the actual Celestial purchase is 528.

Earn August Stone Clusters and visit the exchange NPC in your faction shrine. Examples of predictable purchases are a necklace or ring for 30 Clusters and a trinket for 50. Pick a specific useful effect or set target before spending; do not buy an expensive trinket solely because it appears in someone else's list.

These dungeons add Kor'kron banners and Siege-inspired boss abilities. Coordinate Celestial blessings rather than treating the mode as an unchanged Heroic dungeon. The new currency is Cluster, not the previous season's August Stone Shard. Earlier vendors remain useful for specific older items, but the old 502 catalogue is not the current catch-up ceiling.

Throne of Thunder items, the Chapter IV cloak and Heroic Scenario rewards can still support a returning character. Keep a strong older item until you have a real replacement. Use the quick content your character can already finish, then move to targeted 528 purchases rather than farming a full 496 island set or a full 516 scenario set first.

Upgrades: ordinary and Warforged pieces take different currencies

For Siege raid gear, Classic provides a deterministic way to catch up with Warforged variants. In the verified two-step system, a non-Warforged item gains seven item levels per upgrade for 250 Valor each: 500 Valor for 14 levels. A Warforged item gains four levels per step for 1,000 Justice each: 2,000 Justice for eight levels.

Thus an ordinary Normal piece can reach 567 from 553, while its Warforged counterpart reaches 567 from 559. The corresponding Heroic routes end at 580. These are the results of this two-step path, not the base raid drops or a blanket upgrade rule for every Timeless, crafted or PvP item.

Inspect the item's current upgrade rank at the Ethereal upgrader in your shrine before paying. Do not transfer Phase 4's prices or increments automatically, and do not budget for additional ranks merely because they existed later in original MoP. Upgrade a weapon, an important trinket or a lasting set piece before an item likely to be replaced next raid night.

Warforged Seals are bonus-roll currency, not upgrade currency. Timeless Coins, Clusters, Valor and Justice have different uses; spending one does not advance the others.

Wrathion: the cloak comes before the final Garrosh quest

Chapter V continues after completing the earlier chapters and obtaining the epic cloak. Return to Wrathion at the Tavern in the Mists, then follow his Timeless Isle quests. Secrets of the Timeless Isle requires 5,000 Timeless Coins, and The Emperor's Way requires defeating all four Celestials.

A Pandaren Legend awards the Timeless Essence of the Black Dragonflight used to transform the appropriate epic cloak. The legendary has a role-specific effect: damage dealers gain an offensive proc, healers gain an effect that redistributes overhealing, and tanks gain protection from a lethal hit. Choose the correct role and primary-stat version. In Classic the legendary cloak starts with its two upgrades already applied, at item level 608.

The subsequent Judgment of the Black Prince asks you to defeat Garrosh and closes the story. Do not delay the cloak or Ordos access under the mistaken belief that Garrosh must die before the cloak can become legendary.

Alts still complete the earlier chapters themselves. Classic offers legendary quest drops and purchases through Celestial Dungeons, and eligible early Siege bosses also help with earlier collection stages. Follow the current quest and vendor requirements instead of waiting for LFR or assuming that another character's finished cloak skips your personal chain.

PvP, crafting and the other Phase 5 changes

Season 14 began with regional maintenance in the week of June 2. Grievous Gladiator is the Conquest equipment line, with standard pieces at 522; Tyrannical Honor pieces provide 496 catch-up. Keep Honor and Conquest separate from PvE currencies. Blizzard removes the rating lock from the basic equipment route, but seasonal titles and cosmetic rewards still have their own requirements.

For example, Grievous Combatant requires 100 wins in 3v3 or 40 rated battleground wins during Season 14 and awards a Vicious Saddle. Do not substitute the later Prideful 550 set: Blizzard removed Prideful items accidentally awarded by world bosses after launch. Epic PvP equipment also does not use the Siege PvE upgrade path.

Crafters gain access to 553 armour recipes tied to Balanced Trillium Ingot, Celestial Cloth and Hardened Magnificent Hide discovery. These support belts and legs, not a crafted Tier 16 set. Arrange the correct crafter and materials and compare the finished price against dungeon alternatives; daily production and recipe discovery make instant self-crafting an unreliable plan for a new alt.

Proving Grounds offers solo role practice. Diamond Challenge Modes are timed group goals with the Celestial Ox reward, not a required gearing stage. Classic also adds Edit Mode and the newer transmog interface. The June 3 hotfix reduced outfit and slot gold costs by 90%, so an early PTR price list is unsuitable for today's budget.

Class changes have their own Classic notes. Combat Rogue adjustments around Sinister Strike and Tier 16 are one example; do not import the entire original patch 5.4 class list. Before a raid night, check your current specialisation setup, gems, enchants and consumables. A completed cloak, useful set bonuses and reliable encounter execution contribute more than an arbitrary average-item-level target.

Frequently asked questions

When did Phase 5 and Siege of Orgrimmar open?

Phase 5 launched on June 2, 2026 with regional maintenance, June 3 in Europe. The raid opened globally on June 4; Celestial Season 3 followed in the week of June 16.

How do I reach Timeless Isle?

Take A Flash of Bronze in your Pandaria shrine, speak to Chromie near the Seat of Knowledge and use the teleport item from Journey to the Timeless Isle. Flying is disabled on the island itself.

Is Flex or LFR available for Siege in MoP Classic?

No. The raid has Normal and Heroic for 10 or 25 players. Season 3 Celestial Dungeons provide the repeatable small-group catch-up route associated with LFR-level equipment.

What should a returning player do first?

Use unopened 496 island tokens for weak slots, save a suitable token for a 535 Burden, advance Wrathion and target 528 Celestial purchases. Then join an appropriate Normal group; do not wait for a full island set or a Garrosh kill before working on the cloak.
