TBC Anniversary Ashtongue Deathsworn Reputation Guide

The Ashtongue Deathsworn are Akama's trusted Broken draenei followers. Their story centers on opposition to Illidan, while their main repeatable reputation source is Black Temple in Shadowmoon Valley. Raid crafters benefit from early Shadow Resistance recipes. An individual character may instead be aiming for the class trinket unlocked at Exalted.

Checked October 20, 2026 for Burning Crusade Classic Anniversary. Black Temple is already open. Its attunement remains relevant on this date, but Blizzard has announced its removal with the October 22 Zul'Aman update. That is an access change, rather than an announced reputation grant or a move of Okuno's rewards into outdoor dungeons.

Getting started: access and standing are separate

The faction's starting standing is Neutral. On a first character, the conventional introduction comes through Black Temple attunement. The Aldor and Scryer routes begin in Shadowmoon Valley before converging on Akama's quests. Proof of Allegiance supplies an early 250 reputation; completing the entry portion of the chain brings a character to Friendly.

There is no recurring membership ceremony before every raid. Once you have access, eligible kills inside the instance continue awarding reputation through Exalted. Choosing Aldor or Scryers changes the opening quest branch, rather than creating two incompatible versions of Ashtongue standing. Okuno's rewards serve Alliance and Horde characters who meet their requirements.

In Anniversary, a completed raid attunement unlocks entry for other characters on the Battle.net account. It does not award an alt your reputation or turn in their quests. An alt entering through shared access should work from its actual reputation bar, rather than assuming the Friendly starting position of the character who completed the chain.

The announced October 22 update removes Black Temple's entry attunement. Unrestricted entry is therefore a future condition on the check date. Afterward, the old chain should not be treated as mandatory for entering; any eligible unfinished quests are a separate source of one-time progress.

Where reputation comes from

Values exclude personal reputation bonuses. Your route and completed quests determine the result.

Eligible kills provide progress from Neutral through Exalted. There is no separate Honored or Revered cutoff that forces a change away from ordinary raid farming. A fuller clear helps because packs between bosses account for a substantial share of the total. A short boss-focused route that skips optional enemies will produce a different result, even if the group kills bosses efficiently.

Ashtongue enemies outside the raid do not become valid targets simply because their names match the faction. Farming the Ruins of Baa'ri, handing in Aldor or Scryer items, running heroic dungeons or clearing Hyjal does not substitute for this raid's reputation. Hyjal's Scale of the Sands standing develops separately.

One-time quests and double counting

The complete non-repeatable quest sequence awards 4,850 base reputation. That total includes the later Black Temple steps, rather than arriving automatically before your first entry. Examples include Proof of Allegiance for 250, Akama's Promise for 1,000 and Ruse of the Ashtongue for 500. Later steps Seek Out the Ashtongue, Redemption of the Ashtongue and The Fall of the Betrayer award 350, 500 and 500 respectively.

Do not add all 4,850 again each week. Rewards from quests already turned in are included in your current bar. For unfinished steps, inspect the prerequisites and pick up the quest before its required kill. The final step involves defeating Illidan, so a character without a complete raid clear cannot count the entire sequence as an advance payment.

How many clears does Exalted take?

Starting from zero Neutral, reaching Exalted takes 42,000 reputation: 3,000 to Friendly, another 6,000 to Honored, 12,000 to Revered and 21,000 to Exalted. From the beginning of Friendly, 39,000 remains. If you already have progress inside a rank, subtract that portion as well.

Using an illustrative 7,700 per full clear and all 4,850 quest reputation leaves 37,150 to earn through kills, or approximately five full clears. Starting at zero Neutral without quest rewards is closer to six. These are arithmetic estimates: skipped trash, partial clears and unfinished quest steps can increase the number of visits. Applicable personal reputation bonuses can reduce it.

A Friendly or Honored recipe can solve a practical raid need before the long Exalted goal is complete.

Weekly lockouts and extra trash sessions

Black Temple uses a weekly raid lockout. Bosses already killed in that saved instance do not become available again simply because you leave and request a reset. Before joining another group, check which saved raid it uses and which bosses remain alive.

A dedicated group can farm opening trash before killing a boss, leave and reset an unsaved instance. Such sessions are not additional full boss clears. Agree on the format beforehand: an unexpected boss kill changes the save conditions, while instance entry limits constrain repeated resets.

Killing bosses does not turn off reputation gains from eligible enemies still alive in the instance. Returning for respawned packs depends on the particular section and save state. Do not assume every pack must respawn after a full clear, or that a saved raid can be refreshed into a new one with an ordinary reset. Base your schedule on the clear actually available, with additional trash farming arranged separately.

This faction has no standard daily quest circuit, repeatable token hand-in or Badge of Justice reputation purchase. No dedicated Anniversary catch-up multiplier for Ashtongue Deathsworn was confirmed on the check date. Shared attunement makes an alt's entry easier but does not replace its personal standing.

Okuno and reputation reward tiers

Okuno is inside Black Temple, in the main interior area reached after Supremus. Once that boss is dead, Spirit of Olum offers a teleport to the vendor area. The quartermaster does not stand outside the raid entrance in Shadowmoon Valley. A purchase requires both physical access to him and the buyer's own required standing.

Budget up to 8 gold per recipe and about 29 per talisman. The reference talisman price is 28 gold, 81 silver and 56 copper before any further reduction shown by the vendor; the reference recipe price is 8 gold. Those are purchase costs alone: materials and crafting services are separate. Check Okuno's final displayed price with the purchasing character's standing, rather than confusing an item's vendor sell value with its purchase cost.

Which recipes does a crafter need?

Every recipe listed here requires 375 in its corresponding profession. Friendly blacksmiths unlock Plans: Shadesteel Bracers and Shadesteel Girdle. Honored adds Shadesteel Greaves and Shadesteel Sabots. These form the plate series.

Leatherworkers have two families. At Friendly they can purchase Pattern: Boots of Shackled Souls, Bracers of Shackled Souls, Redeemed Soul Cinch and Redeemed Soul Legguards. Honored unlocks Greaves of Shackled Souls, Waistguard of Shackled Souls, Redeemed Soul Moccasins and Redeemed Soul Wristguards. Shackled Souls is mail; Redeemed Soul is leather. Similar names are not enough to choose the right armor type.

Tailors gain Pattern: Soulguard Bracers and Soulguard Girdle at Friendly. Honored adds Soulguard Leggings, Soulguard Slippers and Night's End. The cloak can serve characters wearing different armor types, rather than being useful only to the tailor.

The recipes bind on pickup, while the resulting pieces in these families bind on equip. Every raider therefore does not need to level a profession and buy the pattern personally. Arrange access for the necessary crafters and commission the pieces you need. Many recipes consume Heart of Darkness from Black Temple and Hyjal trash. Hyjal can help supply materials without providing Ashtongue reputation.

Prepare Shadow Resistance equipment for Mother Shahraz according to the raid leader's assignment. Avoid replacing a functional set with arbitrary resistance pieces or treating one resistance number as mandatory for every role. The encounter's current version, raid buffs, health and the exact slots being replaced all matter.

Class talismans at Exalted

All nine trinkets bind on pickup and are restricted to their named class. A single talisman can include different effects for several specializations; that does not make every effect simultaneously useful to every build. The table uses TBC effects, rather than reduced Retail statistics.

The shared item-name prefix is Ashtongue Talisman of. For example, Insight means Ashtongue Talisman of Insight. These are vendor purchases at Exalted, not random drops from a particular Black Temple boss. Reaching the standing removes loot-roll uncertainty for the appropriate talisman, while its class restriction remains.

A mage can value Insight when frequently producing spell critical strikes across several enemies. A Balance druid can evaluate Equilibrium around regular Starfire casts. A priest who seldom casts Renew receives less value from Acumen's healing effect than the bonus amount alone might suggest. A shaman focused on Chain Heal should not treat Vision as mana recovery from every healing spell: its healing trigger specifically names Lesser Healing Wave.

Compare the reward against both equipped trinkets, your rotation and your encounter assignment. Exalted does not make all nine items universal best-in-slot choices. A recipe-focused grind may sensibly stop at Honored; a talisman-focused grind deserves a specialization check before investing extra sessions.

Crafters aim for the recipe they need; talisman buyers evaluate the effect for their own build.
