The Extortionist: Unknown key, cabin and Skier cargo - classic route
The Extortionist is Skier’s task on Customs: locate the hidden Secure case 0048 and hand the cargo over to him. Finding the messenger’s body and the hiding place are marked optional. The main result is a case obtained and handed over, rather than a compulsory visit to every landmark.
The classic route separates the Unknown key search at the body behind the garages from the construction cabin in the industrial yard. Inside, the case lies beside the wall beneath a jacket on the floor. This guide follows that route; the reward example below belongs to the shown game card and does not replace another task variant’s rewards.
Before deploying, open Traders → Skier → Tasks and accept The Extortionist with Accept. Prepare access, remember where the cargo lies and choose a route to an available extract. Once you pick it up, preserving the case for Skier’s handover becomes the priority.
Separate the main objective from optional steps
The in-game card makes obtaining the hidden cargo on Customs and handing it over mandatory. Locating the messenger’s body and hiding place carry the Optional label. If you already have access to the cargo, do not turn those additional entries into a separate compulsory journey.
Before preparing, check the task giver, location and required item. Check the assignment in the profile and mode you intend to use on Customs.
For a locked assignment, use your profile’s requirements: tasks may depend on character level, trader standing and completed quests. That is separate from the route to the case: finding a key does not activate an assignment you have not accepted.
Preparing for the classic route
The access item is called Unknown key. Check its complete name, description and condition before deploying. Do not substitute another cabin key merely because several similar structures appear on the map.
If you already have a suitable key, planning directly towards the cargo is convenient. Without one, obtaining it becomes a separate stop and a separate risk. Do not budget around guaranteed purchase availability or later resale: check the actual offer and listing eligibility in your own profile.
Weapons, medical supplies and an escape route support returning with the item rather than satisfying an invented kill requirement. Choose equipment whose loss leaves you able to repeat the attempt. Expensive gear cannot fix an inactive task or a mistaken door.
The messenger's body and the key search
For the body, use the garages near RUAF Roadblock named directly in the task description. A recognizable entrance is a low concrete garage with pink double doors and graffiti. Go around it towards the thick bushes along the fence; the body lies in the grass, partly hidden by leaves. The shown search of its inventory contains an Unknown key.
Assess the approach before opening the search interface. While inspecting inventory, attention to the menu limits awareness of the surroundings. If you hear a nearby fight or do not understand where another player could approach from, postpone searching and choose a retreat position first.
If the required key is absent, do not conclude that it must appear after restarting the client or in your next raid. A historical image of the body does not establish the current item spawn probability or show who has already searched the location. Check available ways to obtain a suitable key separately from the task's state.
If the key is already prepared, you can head for the cargo without adding the body search as a compulsory stop: the card marks it optional. Visit the bushes to obtain a key rather than to satisfy an invented completion condition.
Recognising the correct cabin
In the industrial yard, look for a single-storey corrugated-metal cabin beneath large gantry cranes. A forklift and trucks stand nearby, with a brick factory building behind it. The entrance is between two barred windows: this is a small detached cabin, not a multi-storey temporary building.
Use the courier’s Unknown key for the locked cabin: the task briefing itself connects his key with the hidden cargo locked in a bunkhouse. Approach the door, unlock it and enter. If the door is already open, an extra lock interaction is unnecessary - proceed to the case while staying alert to the surroundings.
Inspect the yard before working on the door. For a short stop, understanding where you can retreat after opening is especially useful: moving inside should not be the only plan. If the door is already open, that removes a particular lock interaction without establishing that the room is safe.

The item beneath the jacket
Inside, inspect the floor beside the wall: a jacket partly covers the edge of a rigid case. The native pickup prompt shows 48, while the task card names Secure case 0048 as the required item. Use both references; the cargo is easy to miss if you look only at desks and cupboards.
After picking it up, check your objective at the first safe opportunity. If the item is absent, rule out a different cabin, an inactive assignment and a mismatch between the current objective and the older route, in that order. Do not assume that any similar object in a backpack substitutes for the required cargo.

Historical build 0.13.5.0.25837: the case edge, jacket and 48 prompt help identify the required item.
From pickup to extraction
The case is a unique quest item and enters the special inventory in the Tasks tab. Such items are deleted when your character dies, requiring you to find them again. After picking it up, prioritize extraction over another optional fight. Outside a raid, you can move it into the quest stash to preserve it through a later death.
Going for the cargo near the end of a raid is not a universal way to improve survival. Other players may remain on the map, while the time available for a detour or changing exits decreases. Compare the remaining time with your own route length rather than treating a late timer as evidence of an empty location.
Do not transfer a PMC assignment to another character by analogy with finding an ordinary key. Obtaining an access item and fulfilling an active quest objective may be different actions. Check the corresponding progress rather than only whether a similar object exists after the raid.
Handover to Skier
After extracting, open Traders → Skier → Tasks → The Extortionist and press Turn in for the cargo entry. Once the mandatory objectives are fulfilled, press Complete. Merely picking up the item or extracting with it does not replace those actions; the completed card lists obtaining and handing over separately.
If handover is unavailable, establish which entry remains unfinished first. A wrong item, a profile mismatch and an unmet mandatory objective need different fixes. Another visit to the body does not automatically resolve a handover problem when you already have the key and found the cargo.
Rewards and further purchases
The shown completed The Extortionist card displays 3,000 XP, +0.1 Skier reputation and 450 euros. Use your accepted card’s reward when assessing attempt expenses: the bundle can differ between task variants.
Experience, reputation and purchase unlocks apply after completion, while item rewards must be collected through the trader’s message. If the card unlocks a weapon purchase, the weapon is not awarded free: the reward tooltip shows the required LL.
Frequently asked questions
Where does the classic route lead?
It treats obtaining Unknown key and reaching the small locked cargo cabin as separate stages. Historical images help identify the body in bushes, the industrial yard and the item beneath a jacket; compare your current objective with that route first.
Is the key guaranteed to be on the body?
The preserved images do not establish a current spawn guarantee. Separate an absent key from whether the task is active and whether another available method can provide a suitable item.
Why can I not see the case?
Check the correct cabin, the active objective and the floor beneath the garment. A pickup prompt on the partly exposed edge is more useful than quickly scanning the room at desk height.
Must I visit the body if I already have the key?
No. Locating the body is labelled Optional. If you already have the Unknown key, head for the cargo: the mandatory objectives are to obtain the case and hand it over to Skier.
Should I wait until the final minutes of the raid?
A late timer does not guarantee that opponents are gone, and it reduces time for detours. Plan around the distance to the item and exit rather than a promise that the map will definitely empty.
