The Rookery Dungeon Guide – Mythic+ Season 2

Introduction
Welcome to this Mythic+ guide for The Rookery, one of the dungeons featured in Season 2 of The War Within expansion. This guide will walk you through the encounters and trash packs, providing detailed explanations for each mob and boss, along with recommended strategies. Although the focus is on Mythic and Mythic+ difficulty, many mechanics will also apply to normal and heroic modes.
Additionally, an easy-to-follow route is included, suitable for both experienced groups and PUGs, designed using the Mythic Dungeon Tools addon.

Kyrioss Trash Overview
Cursed Thunderer
Casts Lightning Bolt on random players — interrupt this whenever possible.
Quartermaster Koratite
Immune to crowd control.
Bounding Void sends 3 orbs at a random player, returning in a line — avoid both paths.
Faces a random target to cast Entropy Shield — reposition to attack from the opposite side and avoid reflected abilities.
Voidrider
Also immune to crowd control.
Wild Lightning targets 3 players with linear strikes — step out quickly.
Localized Storm is dangerous if paired with other sources of damage — use defensives or healing cooldowns when needed.
Cursed Rooktender
Uses Lightning Surge to enrage a nearby Stormrook.
Interrupt or soothe to cancel the buff effect.
Unruly Stormrook
Unaffected by crowd control.
Energized Barrage locks onto a random player — ensure they receive healing and defensives if enraged.
Note: In the boss room corners, some packs carry Lightning-Infused, a purgeable Magic buff that increases their attack and cast speed. Dispel when possible.
Kyrioss Boss Strategy
This encounter alternates between a direct combat phase and a high-movement dodge phase.
Boss Phase
Stay spread out around 8 yards apart to avoid overlapping Crashing Thunder, a high-damage AoE cast on every player.
Activate personal defensives as difficulty increases to survive Crashing Thunder.
Wild Lightning fires toward every player during this phase — melee should regroup post-Crashing Thunder to allow more open space for dodging.
Dodge Phase (100 Energy)
Boss jumps to the center, casting Lightning Torrent, a 15-second ticking AoE that also sends out 4 rotating beams.
Beams begin from grates near the room’s center — stand between two and move with the rotation.
Boss drops Grounding Bolt circles under all players — stacked melee groups help avoid overlapping circles.
After this phase, a player is targeted with Lightning Dash, a 12-yard AoE — quickly sidestep it.
Stormguard Gorren Trash Overview
Coalescing Void Diffuser
Immune to crowd control.
Attracting Shadows creates a damaging puddle — stay out of it.
Arcing Void hits a random player — be ready to use defensives if comboed with other abilities.
Void-Cursed Crusher
Tanks must watch for Void Claw, which stacks a healing debuff — kite to drop stacks if necessary.
Void Crush strikes a random player — group should stay loosely spread to avoid cleave overlap.
Corrupted Oracle
Casts Void Bolt at random players — interrupt on cooldown.
Seeping Corruption curses a player and drops damaging circles — dispel quickly or use a defensive and avoid standing in the puddles.
Afflicted Civilian
Upon death, drops Instability zones — move out immediately to avoid taking damage.
Stormguard Gorren Boss Strategy
This fight emphasizes movement and spatial control.
Crush Reality
Boss targets a ranged player, leaping to them and leaving a massive shadow zone for 2 minutes.
This effect shoots beams outward and damages the party — ranged players should position near existing puddles or along the edges to save space.
Chaotic Corruption
Debuffs a random player with a DoT for 5 seconds, starting with 4 stacks.
On expiration, the debuff jumps to the nearest player with one fewer stack.
Original target gets Chaotic Vulnerability, so avoid letting the same person take it twice.
Strategy:
Ideal order: initial target → tank → non-targeted DPS → tank again.
Tanks should use defensives on the second hit due to increased vulnerability.
Any player hit during Crush Reality and Chaotic Corruption simultaneously may also need a personal defensive.
Dark Gravity
Pulls players toward the boss while dealing ticking shadow damage.
Ends in a massive AoE — run away during this cast to avoid fatal damage.
Voidstone Monstrosity Trash Overview
Void Ascendant
Immune to CC.
Interrupt Void Bolt on sight.
Feasting Void applies a party-wide Magic DoT and healing absorb — dispel or heal through the absorb.
Avoid Umbral Wave projectiles flying from the mob.
Consuming Voidstone
Immune to CC.
Volatile Void causes shadow splash damage from the tank — melee should not stack nearby.
Void Extraction boosts damage based on nearby units — don’t overpull or allow too many civilians to remain alive during this cast.
Unleash Darkness deals heavy AoE shadow damage and spawns avoidable circles — use healing and defensives here.
Voidstone Monstrosity Boss Strategy
This encounter is centered around burst phases and add control.
Void Shell (Boss Shield Phase)
The boss begins encased in Void Shell, an absorb shield worth 20% of its max HP.
When broken, it triggers Storm’s Vengeance, stunning the boss and increasing its damage taken by 100% for 20 seconds.
Save offensive cooldowns and damage boosts for this burn window.
Unleash Corruption
Places a Magic DoT on two random players that drops puddles on expiration.
Dispels should be used quickly to minimize damage.
Mind player positioning — don’t let puddles clutter melee range or stack near one another.
Null Upheaval (Full Energy Cast)
At max energy, the boss casts Null Upheaval, which does three things:
Deals shadow damage to the party.
Knocks everyone back and spawns swirlies that need dodging.
Summons three Voidstone Fragments on nearby platforms.
If fragments aren’t destroyed in 15 seconds, they merge into adds with Corruption Overload, causing massive AoE damage.
Strategy:
Non-tank players receive Stormrider’s Charge, a speed boost that detonates near fragments after 12 seconds.
Assign one player to each platform and ensure they run their buff over the fragments.
Keep a floater (usually a healer) ready to backfill in case someone misses.
Tank Responsibilities
Never leave melee range — otherwise the boss spams Entropy, potentially wiping the group.
Use defensives for Oblivion Wave, a wide shadow line attack that also hits all players — angle the boss away from the group to avoid cleaving party members.
Summary Tips
Trash mobs feature high random target damage and positional mechanics — use interrupts and defensives liberally.
Bosses alternate between high-damage AoE and dodging mechanics — awareness and movement are key.
Use purge, soothe, and dispel utilities when applicable.
Coordinate burst windows and defensive cooldowns for phase transitions and empowered enemy abilities.
Always assign platform roles for final boss fragments, and save cooldowns for the burn window after shield break.
