The Unbinding of Kith'ix: Raid Guide for WoW Midnight

Last Updated:24 Oct 2026

The Unbinding of Kith'ix is a live, single-boss World of Warcraft: Midnight raid for level 90 characters. It opened with patch 12.1.5 on October 13, 2026 in North America and October 14 in Europe. All five difficulties are available, including Story Mode and flexible Mythic. This guide was checked October 24 against the official hotfix listing through October 23, during Season 2.

Kith'ix is an ancient C'Thraxxi general commanding aqir. Ula'tek's defeat weakened his prison beneath the Vaults of Atal'Utek. Lady Liadrin joins your raid, and using her protection correctly is essential. The encounter concludes the current campaign's confrontation, but organized raid loot and campaign quest rewards follow different rules.

Location, entrance and access

Travel to the Coiled Isle, enter the Vaults of Atal'Utek and head north into The Underbelly. The raid portal is in its northeastern section: /way #2613 74.0 7.4. Use the map identifier as well as the numbers: this is an underground waypoint, not a point on the island's surface. Enemies occupy the route, so assemble the group before rushing through it.

For first access to the island, follow Chapter 2 of the 12.1 campaign and What Lies Beyond the Fog. The zone guide describes Warband access after the introduction. Flying works on the island, but not inside the underground Vaults. If unlocked through the Season 2 Prey introduction, the two-way portal from Astalor's Sanctum in Silvermoon shortens the trip to the island; it does not teleport directly into the raid.

For Story Mode, follow the 12.1.5 campaign beginning with The Aqir Swarm and speak with Memory of Ancient Darkness near the raid entrance. The quest also references Lady Liadrin as the story-entry interaction. Use the nearby available campaign dialogue if the NPC state differs. No separate raid attunement for Normal, Heroic or Mythic was corroborated; do not mistake the story quest for a proven prerequisite for every difficulty.

Difficulty

Group and entry

Intended use

Story Mode

Campaign completion, not ordinary raid loot or Vault credit

Raid Finder

Matchmade group through the raid queue

Accessible raid loot; check live queue requirements

Normal / Heroic

Organized flexible raid, 10-30 in the official raid template

Normal or Heroic progression

Mythic

Specifically confirmed flexible 15-25

Highest base raid drops and Mythic mechanics

The generic official raid template still prints a fixed-20 Mythic label. Blizzard's specific live 12.1.5 announcement overrides it for this encounter: Mythic is 15-25. The checked current guide still leaves the Raid Finder minimum item level unspecified. Its exact queue headcount and Story Mode party cap were not independently established, so those numbers are not borrowed from older raids. A 2-tank, 4-healer, 14-DPS lineup is a community example for twenty players, not a required composition for every allowed group.

Fight flow: repeated cycles, then a final race

Phase

Main mechanics

Raid priority

Phase 1

Voidswarm, separated adds, Extinguish, fears and tank swaps

Clear adds before the boss reaches 100 energy

Intermission

Suffocating Darkness and Liadrin's barrier

Stay in the light; heal absorbs and protect Liadrin

Return to Phase 1

Liadrin reaches 100 energy; Divine Radiance stuns Kith'ix

Reset positions and repeat if above 25% health

Final phase

At 25% health: Last Light, Null Gates, Eightfold Eclipse

Use burst cooldowns and kill before the eighth Eclipse

This is not one scripted intermission at a fixed health percentage. The first phase and darkness cycle repeat until 25%. Exhausted weakens Liadrin's help after repeated cycles, making extended attempts progressively harder. Her full-energy cast provides an eight-second stun; use it productively without losing the next add positioning.

The Unbinding of Kith'ix: Raid Guide for WoW Midnight

The repeated add/darkness cycle ends when the boss reaches 25% health.

Phase 1: control the aqir

Commanding Presence protects aqir too close to Kith'ix. Keep the boss at least 25 yards from the add pack. One tank handles Kith'ix while the other brings the Venomous Hulk onto the immobile Voidweaver. Face the Hulk's Venom Roar away from players. The purpose is efficient damage on vulnerable targets, not stacking everything beneath the boss.

Voidweaver is the main kill priority because Nightfall increasingly punishes the whole raid. Cleave the Hulk while focusing the caster. Bomber Beetles pursue players and explode on contact or after their timer; control and trigger them separately so Digestive Juices does not pile up. Do not accidentally run a beetle train through the group. On Normal, Heroic and Mythic, staggered detonations matter; the checked journal does not list the same beetle package for Raid Finder.

Heroic and Mythic add Incubation: dead Hulks and Voidweavers leave Mindstinger eggs. Destroy these before they hatch into adds that stun and damage players. On Mythic, Bomber Beetles leave eggs too. This is an extra target-switch requirement, not a Normal mechanic. A grip or root can organize beetles, but no universal interrupt rotation is established for the stationary caster: kill priority remains essential.

Before Extinguish, every player should collect a Light's Embrace mote. Its protection is short, so take it for the incoming shockwave rather than far in advance. If you miss one, call for a defensive or immunity; do not assume ordinary healing will compensate. Avoid Twisted Appendage ground impacts while moving.

Players marked by Unspeakable Horrors should separate from the group before Overwhelming Fear is removed. The removal causes distance-based raid damage, so healers should coordinate dispels instead of removing all fears simultaneously. Tanks take Dark Devastation away from the raid and swap after each hit because Devastated increases subsequent damage taken.

Intermission: keep the safe area usable

At 100 boss energy, move inside Refulgent Bulwark around Liadrin. Any surviving aqir gains Dark Frenzy, becoming much more dangerous. This is why clearing the wave before the transition is usually more valuable than extra boss damage. Continue handling motes, fears, tank circles and ground impacts within the smaller safe space.

Abyssal Grasp applies a healing absorb and pulls targets toward darkness. Healers have eight seconds to heal it off before the target is dragged out. This requires focused healing, not simply a dispel. Assign coverage and reserve a throughput cooldown for dangerous overlaps rather than using every healer cooldown on the first damage pulse.

On Heroic and Mythic, Dark Devastation leaves Voidscars. Their Eclipse Fragments move toward Liadrin during intermission. Intercept them before they reach her and reduce the barrier's effectiveness. Rotate assigned interceptors and avoid splashing nearby players with the resulting damage. A tank can help, but still needs to manage the boss and defensive resources. Keep the tank circle near the safe area's edge without stepping into lethal darkness.

Final phase: 25% health to the kill

At 25%, Stygian Howl triggers the transition and clears the previous phase's active adds. Last Light heals the raid and grants Luminous Grace. Bloodlust/Heroism and major offensive cooldowns are commonly saved here because the damage amplification coincides with a hard deadline: the eighth Eightfold Eclipse wipes the raid. This is a strategy recommendation supported by the encounter, not a mandatory automatic cast.

Plan cooldowns backward from that transition. Use earlier charges when they will be ready again for the final phase; do not hold useful short cooldowns for the entire attempt. Healers should stagger raid defenses across the Eclipse pulses and tank-clearing explosions. Exact healing-amplification percentages differ between guide summaries, so this plan does not depend on an unverified healing number.

Marked players place Null Gates away from the group, then move clear. Leave usable access for tanks and avoid Nullshards. Nullify is lethal at six stacks on Normal, five on Heroic and three on Mythic; treat these as failure thresholds, not an allowance to deliberately collect shards. Mythic Trap's generic six-stack line on its Mythic page conflicts with its difficulty context and the other guides, so use the corroborated three-stack Mythic rule.

Tanks swap immediately on Negation. The affected tank must reach a Null Gate before the debuff expires; otherwise the tank dies. Gate removal triggers Explosive Restabilization and raid damage, so call it before contact. Mythic applies multiple stacks and requires clearing three gates; preserve a route rather than deleting every reachable gate casually. Method lists eight seconds on Heroic and twelve on Mythic: monitor the actual debuff timer instead of assuming equal timing across difficulties.

Tanks, healers and damage dealers have distinct encounter responsibilities.

Responsibilities and difficulty differences

Role

Key mechanics

What to do

Tanks

Dark Devastation, Hulk frontal, Negation

Separate boss and adds; swap each hit; clear gates in time

Healers

Fear removals, Abyssal Grasp, raid pulses

Stagger dispels; heal absorbs within eight seconds; rotate cooldowns

DPS

Voidweaver, eggs, beetle control, final deadline

Switch targets promptly; finish waves before intermission; burst at 25%

Raid Finder retains the core light protection, tank vulnerability and darkness/absorb responsibilities in the journal, but is not a place to assume every higher-difficulty add exists. Normal includes the beetle detonation management. Heroic adds Hulk/Voidweaver eggs, Voidscars and fragment interception, and reduces the lethal Nullify threshold. Mythic adds beetle eggs, the stricter three-stack threshold and multi-gate tank clearing. Learn these changes before increasing difficulty.

Loot levels and useful gear

The following are current base boss-drop values, corroborated against the live raid guide and current raid wiki. They are not the maximum upgraded levels, nor Story Mode quest values.

Normal

Myth 3/6

There are ten equipment entries: two swords, four armor pieces, a ring and three trinkets. Lu'selama, Light's Justice is the Strength two-handed sword; Sanctified Knight's Phoenixblade is the Intellect one-handed sword. The armor is Corroded Hulk's Skullcap, Aberrant Commander's Gauntlets, Chestwrap of Palpable Terror and Voidweaver's Leggings. Band of the Swarmcaller fills the ring slot. The tank, healer and damage trinkets are Lightbearer's Shield Fragment, Sigil of the Impending Eclipse and Twisted Horror's Tendril respectively.

The armor's Void Eruption effect is enhanced by 15% while Venomcursed. The current hotfix listing says it no longer hits targets outside your combat. Do not evaluate it using the old unrestricted behavior or September previews that showed Myth 9/6 drops. No tier tokens drop directly here. Under the Season 2 Catalyst rules, eligible armor can acquire the tier bonus while retaining its secondary/tertiary stats, sockets and cantrip. Preview the conversion on the actual item before spending a charge.

Boss loot is a chance, not one guaranteed item per player. Check weekly encounter eligibility and loot specialization before the pull. The verified skullcap is Bind on Pickup; no universal Warbound equipment rule, special trade window or repeat-loot entitlement is established for the entire table. Check each received item rather than promising an alt transfer.

Cosmetics, campaign rewards and achievements

Shadeweaver's Hearthstone is a boss-drop toy. Kith'ix's Seal is the housing decor drop. Neither is proven Mythic-exclusive by the checked reward list, and no reliable numerical drop rate or guaranteed-per-kill status was established. Libram of the Matriarch is specifically listed for Mythic. It creates Glyph of the Matriarch's Wings, which changes a Paladin's Avenging Wrath appearance. The glyph effect requires a Paladin; that does not establish a Paladin-only restriction on collecting the toy. Treat the libram as a drop, not a guaranteed Mythic-clear reward.

The campaign quest The Unbinding of Kith'ix can be completed through Story Mode. Its turn-in offers Bloodmark Signet or Pendant of Venomous Vigil at Hero 1/6, separately from the boss-drop table, plus Hiveborne Hearthstone. Follow-up quests award Shield of the Blood Knight Matriarch, Blade of the Blood Knight Matriarch and the Light's Faithful title. These are quest rewards, not Mythic-exclusive random drops. Unverified Russian labels are kept in English in the localized article.

The six listed completion achievements are Kith'ix, Heroic: Kith'ix, Mythic: Kith'ix and the three corresponding Guild Run achievements. Earn them by meeting their difficulty and, where relevant, guild-group criteria. Do not infer that Story Mode awards every basic or guild achievement. The source's sentence claiming seven achievements conflicts with its six-row list; no seventh or unverified Ahead of the Curve/Cutting Edge reward is invented here.

Great Vault and the pre-pull checklist

Kith'ix counts toward the raid row on Raid Finder, Normal, Heroic and Mythic. Story Mode does not. Current Season 2 raid thresholds are 2, 4 and 6 boss completions: one Kith'ix kill alone unlocks no slot. Combine it with eligible bosses from other current-season raids, such as the Venomous Abyss, and check the Vault UI for the difficulty of each option. Repeating this same encounter on several difficulties does not turn one boss into several distinct bosses for the thresholds.

Agree on add control, safe space, mechanics and the final burst before pulling.

Before pulling, agree on the boss/add separation, beetle control, fear-dispel order and Heroic/Mythic fragment interceptors. Mark the safe regroup location and final gate-placement areas. Assign healing cooldowns and the Bloodlust caller. After a wipe, identify the actual failure: protected adds, missed light, late absorb healing, fragment leaks or expired Negation. Fixing that assignment is more useful than increasing damage while repeating the same lethal mistake.

Frequently asked questions

Where is The Unbinding of Kith'ix entrance?

In the northeastern Underbelly beneath the Vaults of Atal'Utek on the Coiled Isle. The underground portal waypoint is /way #2613 74.0 7.4. Story Mode uses the nearby campaign interaction.

How many bosses are in the raid?

One: Kith'ix. The fight has two main phases with a recurring energy-triggered intermission before the final phase at 25% health. Mythic supports 15-25 players.

What item level does Kith'ix drop?

Base drops are 285 in Raid Finder, 298 Normal, 311 Heroic and 324 Mythic, each at rank 3/6 of its corresponding track. The Story Mode campaign jewelry reward is a separate Hero 1/6 quest choice.

Are there special or Mythic-only rewards?

Yes. The Mythic-listed Libram of the Matriarch creates the Paladin cosmetic glyph. Other listed drops include Shadeweaver's Hearthstone and Kith'ix's Seal; they are not established as Mythic-exclusive or guaranteed. Campaign cosmetics come from their quests.
