WoW Forever 1-60 Leveling Guide for Alliance and Horde
Build each session around nearby quest hubs, keep journeys short and add a dungeon when its quests and party are ready. The route below separates faction openings from later regional choices. You do not need to finish every zone listed, and changing areas after every level is usually unnecessary.
Checked October 19, 2026. The current beta stops at level 30; the full journey is designed for level 60. The 30-60 section is therefore a provisional plan based on Classic geography and announced additions, not a tested Forever quest sequence. There is no level scaling and no flying mounts. The brackets below are planning windows, not zone entry requirements.
Prepare before leaving town
Required preparation: choose the same faction and ruleset as your friends, bring food or water appropriate to your class, clear bag space and learn available combat skills. At a new hub, find its quests, vendor and flight master first. Unlock flight connections as you pass them. Bind your Hearthstone near your current quest base so that a field circuit ends with turn-ins and supplies.
Optional preparation includes larger bags, an inexpensive replacement for a weak weapon, consumables and supplies from an established character. Avoid spending your entire purse on marginal armor upgrades. Keep money for training, transport and eventual riding. Dedicated profession farming trips are not a required stage of the leveling route.
Alliance route from 1 to 30
Levels 1-10 or 1-12
Humans can follow Elwynn Forest, Dwarves and Gnomes Dun Morogh, and Night Elves Teldrassil. Complete objectives from the same settlement in a shared circuit. Before leaving, turn in finished quests and check class errands rather than abandoning the area simply because another zone is accessible.
Skyborne have the announced Zephras Isle opening for levels 1-12. Follow your faction's departure chain, then join an accessible Alliance branch. This guide does not invent mandatory departure quest names or an early shortcut to the mainland.
Approximately levels 10-20
Choose one main branch rather than touring all three:
Starting region | Main direction | Reason to move on |
Elwynn Forest | Westfall, then suitable Redridge Mountains quests | Nearby work is finished or remaining enemies are too strong |
Dun Morogh | Loch Modan, later Wetlands | Local turn-ins are complete and the next chain suits your level |
Teldrassil | Darkshore, then Ashenvale | Your current hub is finished and suitable work opens to the south |
While working in Westfall, collect Deadmines quests if you intend to join a party. Near Ironforge, Hall of Thanes is an optional stop with an announced 13-18 range. Crossing the continent solely to run it is not a required step.
Approximately levels 20-30
From Redridge, try Duskwood; from Loch Modan, move toward Wetlands; from Darkshore, continue into Ashenvale. Use Darkshire as a Duskwood base and combine objectives in the same direction. In Wetlands, start with suitable Menethil Harbor work before moving inland. These are geographical recommendations adapted from Classic, not a claim that Forever preserves every old quest.
If you lack a level for the next comfortable set of objectives, finish skipped safe quests or consider a suitable dungeon. Use Blizzard's corrected 26-31 range for Excavation Site: Wetlands. At 28-30, City of Dalaran is another possibility: it is already open in beta even though its announced range extends to 33. At level 30, the beta prevents further leveling.
Horde route from 1 to 30
Levels 1-10 or 1-12
Orcs and Trolls begin in Durotar, Tauren in Mulgore, and Undead in Tirisfal Glades. Finish nearby chains and check training before rushing to a shared region. Skyborne use the Zephras Isle 1-12 opening before continuing with their chosen faction.
Approximately levels 10-20
The Barrens is the main framework for Orcs, Trolls and Tauren. Establish the Crossroads as a base, clear nearby objectives first and save southern work for a suitable level. Do not combine every edge of this large zone into one circuit. Undead have a more direct Eastern Kingdoms branch through Silverpine Forest toward Hillsbrad Foothills.
Wailing Caverns is convenient to consider during Barrens questing; Ruins of Lordaeron fits time spent near Undercity. The latter has an announced 15-20 range. Both are optional: if assembling a party takes too long, continue outdoor objectives.
Approximately levels 20-30
From the Barrens, choose Stonetalon Mountains or Ashenvale according to available work, rather than switching between both after every level. From Silverpine, continue toward Hillsbrad Foothills with Tarren Mill as a base. On a PvP ruleset, contested travel can cost additional time through player encounters.
Shadowfang Keep fits the eastern branch when a group is available. Near the beta ceiling, consider City of Dalaran. Distinguish outdoor work near the city from the separate dungeon and confirm what your party intends to do. If a new area's enemies are too strong, finish remaining objectives in the previous region. Every branch currently ends at the level 30 beta cap.

Stages of planning a leveling route
Provisional route from 30 to 60
Use this section to plan for the full launch. Forever's exact quest chains and travel efficiency above the beta cap have not been verified, so the table is not a proven fastest route. Pick a regional branch and adjust to available work instead of crossing the world for each row.
Stage | Eastern Kingdoms branch | Kalimdor branch | Check before moving |
30-35 | Arathi Highlands or northern Stranglethorn Vale | Thousand Needles, then Desolace | Find several manageable quests; return to a neighboring hub if necessary |
35-40 | Stranglethorn Vale; Badlands as an alternative | Desolace; Dustwallow Marsh as an alternative | Finish nearby chains and check access to Riverglades |
40-45 | Suitable remaining work, then the Hinterlands | Feralas or Tanaris | Select manageable objectives rather than clearing the entire region |
45-50 | Hinterlands, then Searing Gorge | Tanaris or Feralas | Collect the next hub's quests and check enemy levels |
50-55 | Searing Gorge and Burning Steppes | Un'Goro Crater, then Felwood | Turn in finished chains and drop distant low-priority errands |
55-60 | Western and Eastern Plaguelands | Felwood, then Winterspring | Finish with safe quest circuits and suitable group objectives |
Riverglades is announced as an alternative across much of the mid-30s to mid-40s experience. At launch, check its introduction and transport in the client, then substitute it for part of your branch. Do not make it an additional compulsory detour after completing every other region. This route assigns no unverified level band to Shen'dralas and does not depend on Mount Hyjal for the final leveling stretch.
Move when convenient local work has run out and the next region offers several suitable objectives. If the new area offers only difficult quests, return to the previous one or use a neighboring alternative. A single hard chain finale should not hold a solo character in place indefinitely.
Dungeons and group leveling
Collect dungeon quests and check prerequisites before committing to a run. Continue nearby work while the party forms. Include the journey, assembly, clearing, turn-ins and possible recovery in your time estimate; combat XP alone does not describe the full cost.
On October 8, Blizzard opened City of Dalaran and increased experience from dungeon creature kills by approximately 20%. Older speed comparisons therefore need reconsideration. An earlier change reduced the extra portion of dungeon quest XP, not every type of experience earned there.
Do not plan around a high-level escort carrying the group: a sufficiently large gap between a party member and the enemies can prevent everyone from receiving kill XP. This guide does not assert an exact safe threshold. Prefer reasonably matched characters and check actual rewards.
For the future journey beyond 30, additional announced dungeon options include The Drowned City 35-40, Krol'dok Stronghold 40-45, Alcaz Prison 48-53, Blackmaw Hold 55-60 and Shaper's Terrace 58-60. These are published planning ranges, not minimum portal requirements or a list of instances currently open in beta.
Solo questing suits irregular sessions. A regular partner can help with dangerous targets and recovery, although collection objectives may require more kills. A full party is useful for dungeons and elite tasks; merely having five players does not guarantee the best XP per hour.

Comparison of leveling methods
Talents and progression systems
Ordinary talent access begins at level 10, while Dual Specialization is announced for level 40. Reaching that threshold does not mean you must buy it immediately: a useful skill setup and enough money for travel matter more to the route. Check the Forever tree before importing a high-level Classic build.
Legacy normally opens with a first point at level 25, although other unlock paths exist. For later characters, Talented can move talent access up to five levels earlier. Well Rested improves rested accumulation and storage, while Frequent Flier helps with flight paths. Choose available perks around your actual bottleneck: travel, recovery or a new character's opening. The 16 points granted for beta testing are not evidence of an equivalent free allocation at launch.
Logging out at an inn or capital helps build rested experience. Treat it primarily as help with kill XP, not a multiplier for all quest rewards, and do not postpone playing merely to fill the reserve. Use camping features according to their current tooltips: do not assume that every effect stacks or ignores profession requirements. Gathering materials along the route is useful; making a separate circuit for a few nodes is optional.
Travel and meaningful class differences
A flight master's service is different from a flying mount; Forever does not offer the latter. Establish local transport links before deciding whether to return to a capital. Combine training, selling and changing your base into one visit. Check current riding requirements and prices with the appropriate trainer rather than building the entire budget around an unverified figure.
Hunters and Warlocks should keep pets and class supplies ready. A Warrior benefits especially from replacing a weak weapon, while a partner may reduce dangerous interruptions. A Mage should not switch to large enemy pulls without suitable tools, space and control skills. Hybrid healing increases the margin for error but does not make large pulls cost-free. These differences change safe pull size and recovery needs rather than requiring a separate intercontinental itinerary.
When progress slows down
Identify the delay before changing the route: contested spawns, travel, food and water breaks, deaths, unsuitable enemy levels or party formation. Change one factor at a time. If a camp is crowded, try another local quest circuit. If deaths are frequent, fight fewer enemies. If dungeon recruitment stalls, return to solo work.
There is no universal 1-60 completion time. Compare your own sessions with class, rested reserves, party composition and transport costs in mind. For beta, the practical goal is a comfortable branch to level 30; for launch, use the provisional 30-60 plan while checking new chains on arrival.
