WoW Forever Dungeons: Levels, Entrances, Bosses and Rewards

Last Updated:18 Oct 2026

WoW Forever adds nine dungeons to the familiar Classic lineup, creating more choices between the early teens and level 60. The useful question is not simply which instance comes next: it is whether your group can reach it, has the necessary quests and can handle the final encounter at its current level.

This overview was checked on October 18, 2026. It separates announced content from the beta's playable list and uses Blizzard's intended level bands where independent guides give broader recommendations. Those bands are not verified minimum portal-entry requirements. Boss details below describe the current beta, not an immutable launch version.

All nine new dungeons: levels and locations

Dungeon

Levels

Location and approach

Hall of Thanes

13-18

Beneath Ironforge; descend from the High Seat area.

Ruins of Lordaeron

15-20

The ruined city above Undercity.

Excavation Site

26-31

Wetlands, above Whelgar's Excavation Site; approach from south of Thelgen Rock.

City of Dalaran

28-33

Dalaran in Hillsbrad; the northwestern sewer entrance requires its key.

The Drowned City

35-40

Ancient ruins off the Stranglethorn coast.

Król'dok Stronghold

40-45

Riverglades.

Alcaz Prison

48-53

Alcaz Island, off northeastern Dustwallow Marsh.

Blackmaw Hold

55-60

Northern Azshara, beyond the furbolg gates.

The Shaper's Terrace

58-60

Un'Goro Crater; an ancient Titan site.

Excavation Site's earlier 24-29 band is outdated: Blizzard changed it to 26-31 on October 1. The first four dungeons are covered in current beta guides. The remaining five have announced locations and level bands, but the checked sources do not establish complete encounter orders, mechanics and loot tables for all of them.

Which dungeons are actually available in the beta?

The development notes opened Hall of Thanes and Ruins of Lordaeron early, added Excavation Site on October 1 and made City of Dalaran available on October 8. The October 1 update also set the character-level cap to 30. A level band extending beyond that cap does not prove that the whole instance is comfortable for a capped party.

The returning entries explicitly listed for testing are Ragefire Chasm, Wailing Caverns, The Deadmines, Shadowfang Keep, The Stockade, Blackfathom Deeps, Gnomeregan, Razorfen Kraul, Scarlet Monastery, Razorfen Downs and Uldaman. The last two were listed at 25+ and 30+ respectively. Treat those figures as beta availability guidance, not a complete replacement for their encounter-by-encounter level requirements.

Returning Classic dungeons

The wider Forever directory also includes Zul'Farrak, Maraudon, Sunken Temple, Blackrock Depths, Blackrock Spire, Scholomance, Stratholme and Dire Maul. Together with the eleven returning entries above, these form the familiar roster alongside the nine additions.

Some names cover several routes. Scarlet Monastery has Graveyard, Library, Armory and Cathedral; Blackrock Spire has lower and upper sections; Dire Maul has east, north and west wings; Stratholme has main-gate and service-gate routes. Maraudon also has multiple entrances and connected sections. Agree on the wing and final objective before accepting an invitation.

Counting wings, entrances and named complexes produces different totals. A directory's headline number is therefore less useful than its actual list. Classic Era recommendations can help recognize a location, but they should not override a Forever beta change to levels, enemies or rewards.

Hall of Thanes: a four-boss introduction

Hall of Thanes places an early group beneath Ironforge, with the entrance reached from the High Seat. Its location makes the approach easier for Alliance characters, but it is not evidence of an Alliance-only instance: Horde visitors face the practical danger of hostile city guards.

The current guide presents four bosses in this order:

Boss

Main preparation or response

Faldrim Anvilmar

Clear nearby enemies before engaging the patrol; avoid turning a boss fight into a larger pull.

Magmatus

Deal with the summoning enemies first and move away from damaging fire.

Plunder

Position against a wall to limit the disruption from knockback.

Dirgen Dirgehammer

Account for his two golems and fear; leave no nearby enemies that a fleeing player could pull.

The dungeon has five listed quests, with different faction availability. An Ancient Grudge and Important Heirlooms are listed for both sides; do not assume every other quest can be collected by every party member. Two concrete loot examples are Fang of Magmatus from Magmatus and Golemheart Stave from Plunder. These are possible drops, not guaranteed rewards for completing a run.

Ruins of Lordaeron: six bosses and an extra possibility

The entrance lies in the ruins above Undercity. The current encounter guide lists Witherfang, The Baron, Viktor the Vile, The Abandoned, Bjork and Rath'mael. That is six regular bosses; it is a guide sequence, not a claim that every corridor forces one linear route.

Watch The Baron's cleave and knockback, and let the tank establish control before attacking. Viktor the Vile is connected to the Grim Campfire event and waves of skeletons. Approaching The Abandoned starts a multi-wave encounter; interrupt Drain Life rather than allowing recovery to prolong it. Rath'mael's Flamestrike is another useful interrupt target.

Lordaeron Captain is an additional rare possibility after the bosses, not a seventh guaranteed encounter. The guide describes him as friendly to Alliance characters and attackable by Horde. A party should not promise the same extra kill or loot opportunity to both factions.

The guide lists ten quests across the two factions, six for Horde and four for Alliance. That is a combined catalog, not ten quests that one character necessarily has available simultaneously.

Excavation Site: three encounters and a changed level band

Use the Wetlands approach south of Thelgen Rock to reach the area above Whelgar's excavation. The current guide lists Saltspine, Shadetooth and the final Relic Guardian. Blizzard's updated 26-31 band takes precedence over the guide's broader 26-33 recommendation.

Saltspine's Dust Storm penalizes melee hit chance, so avoid treating every miss as a threat-management failure. Before Shadetooth, look for stealthed raptors. His accompanying Thicket Hunters apply healing reduction; controlling or eliminating them makes the fight more manageable. Activate the Relic Guardian through the Archival Panel and prepare for knockback, stuns and Thunder Clap.

There are eight listed quests in total, split five Alliance and three Horde. Shadetooth's current reward list also includes Blueprint: Greenhouse, connecting the dungeon to Camping. Check the latest item entry before planning a dedicated farm, since beta rewards can change.

City of Dalaran: key access and an optional boss

City of Dalaran entered testing on October 8. Its sewer entrance is outside the northwestern side of the city and requires the Dalaran Sewers Key, obtained through faction-specific quest progression. Alliance preparation leads through Southshore, while Horde preparation starts in Tarren Mill.

The October 15 notes make an important distinction: Horde characters are hated and attacked in outdoor Dalaran, but this does not remove their dungeon access. Possessing the sewer key is not permission to walk safely through the city.

The current guide lists eight encounters including the optional Lyn the Ignored. Atrexis the Grave Knight opens the route and Shade of the Archmage is the final boss. The other regular encounters are Arcane Anomaly, Arcanic Enigma, Unstable Sentinel, Fel Ancient and Mana Devourer. Lyn requires the Tome of Dalaran; do not describe all eight as unavoidable bosses.

Interrupt Mana Burn during Arcanic Enigma, face Unstable Sentinel away from the party and move out of Fel Ancient's ground effects. Against Shade of the Archmage, reposition around Bounding Mana and avoid the close-range Arcane Explosion. Clear enough room before engaging bosses instead of discovering dangerous patrols mid-fight.

What is established about the five later additions?

The Drowned City belongs off the Stranglethorn coast, not in Riverglades. Blizzard associates it with naga and pirates in ancient ruins. Król'dok Stronghold is the Riverglades destination at 40-45; its name alone does not establish a complete enemy roster or boss strategy.

Alcaz Prison moves the route to the island northeast of Dustwallow Marsh. Blackmaw Hold is the northern Azshara destination, associated with the corrupted furbolg area. The Shaper's Terrace brings the new lineup into the 58-60 bracket through a Titan-themed location in Un'Goro.

For these five, plan around the confirmed destination and intended level band. The checked material does not justify inventing boss counts, key chains, reputation thresholds, item levels or drop percentages. An announced dungeon is not automatically an enabled beta instance, and a theme is not a verified mechanic.

Quests, experience, loot and Legacy

Collect relevant quests before traveling and check prerequisites individually. A quest available to one faction or one character may be unavailable to another, and not every quest is shareable. An explicit reward in your quest log is a different commitment from a random boss drop.

Experience rules have already changed during testing. On October 1 Blizzard reduced the extra dungeon-quest experience bonus by 50%, rather than halving all dungeon-quest experience. On October 8 dungeon creature experience rose by roughly 20%, and group calculations returned toward Classic Era behavior. Extremely overleveled assistance can still remove experience. These adjustments do not establish dungeons as the fastest leveling method for every group.

Blizzard has also described extensive dungeon-loot revisions, including new items and stronger sets. Compare actual stats with your build and current equipment; a familiar item name or blue quality does not establish a universal best choice. Agree on loot expectations before the first boss.

Legacy includes three dungeon-completion challenges grouped into level bands: 15-25, 26-45 and 46-60. Each asks for the final bosses across its relevant dungeons. It is not a promise of one Legacy point for every individual dungeon clear. Likewise, do not assume all enemy kills award a particular reputation: verify the specific quest or faction relationship.

Prepare a practical run

WoW Forever Dungeons: Levels, Entrances, Bosses and Rewards

Four preparation checks before entering a dungeon

1. Match the group to the destination. Check levels, current testing availability, faction and ruleset. Forever does not support cross-faction or cross-ruleset parties.

2. Set the objective before traveling. Name the wing, intended final boss, quest stops and any optional encounter. Confirm keys or required items rather than discovering a missing prerequisite at the entrance.

3. Prepare for controlled pulls. Repair, bring food and drink, assign interrupts and agree on crowd control. A tank, healer and damage dealers provide a practical starting composition; survivable pulls matter more than a fashionable class list.

4. Finish the planned route before resetting. Confirm quest credit, collect needed objects and check whether a rare event actually appeared. A partial clear may satisfy one quest without completing a Legacy objective.

Do not import modern difficulty systems into this overview. The checked announcements do not provide a Heroic or Mythic+ schedule for these dungeons. PvE, PvP and Hardcore rulesets are different ways to play, not interchangeable dungeon difficulty settings.

Frequently asked questions

Are all nine new dungeons playable in the beta?

No. The checked notes explicitly opened the first four discussed here. The remaining announced destinations should not be presented as fully available simply because they appear in a directory.

Is the level range a minimum entrance requirement?

Not necessarily. This table uses Blizzard's intended bands. Entry restrictions, quest requirements and the level needed to defeat a final boss are separate checks.

Does a capital-city location lock the other faction out?

Not automatically. Hall of Thanes and City of Dalaran require attention to approach routes, guards and quests. Outdoor hostility and instance eligibility are different issues.

Should I repeat one dungeon for a specific item?

Only after checking the current loot entry and the rest of the group's objective. A possible drop, optional encounter or beta reward is never a guaranteed return for the time spent.
