WoW Forever Gearing Guide
How Gearing Works in WoW Forever
Gear progression in WoW Forever develops alongside your character from early leveling through raid content.
While leveling, most equipment comes from quests, dungeons, professions, and open-world drops. Once you reach level 60, progression begins shifting toward preparing for high-level group content.
A simplified gearing path looks like this:
leveling gear from 1-60;
stronger items during the final leveling stages;
pre-raid gear;
raid gear;
tier set progression;
rare chase items and later upgrades.
Players preparing specifically for their first raids can use WoW Forever Pre-Raid Gear.
Do You Need to Replace Gear Constantly While Leveling?
No.
While progressing toward level 60, replacing every item for a very small stat increase is usually unnecessary.
Pay more attention to slots that have fallen significantly behind your character's level, especially:
weapons;
major armor pieces;
items with your primary stat;
survivability upgrades;
extremely outdated equipment.
Most replacements will arrive naturally through quests, dungeon progression, professions, and enemy drops.
Players who first need the level cap can use WoW Forever 1-60 Leveling.
Quest Gear
Quest rewards are one of the most consistent ways to keep a character appropriately equipped while leveling.
With more than 1,000 new quests planned for Forever, players can earn a significant amount of gear naturally while progressing through zones and storylines.
Questing can provide several forms of progress at the same time:
experience;
story progression;
equipment;
access to new zones;
possible reputation and Legacy progression.
Players targeting specific stories can also use Questline Completion.
Dungeon Gear
Dungeons are another major source of equipment throughout the 1-60 journey.
WoW Forever introduces nine new dungeons across different level ranges, including:
Hall of Thanes;
Ruins of Lordaeron;
Excavation Site: Wetlands;
City of Dalaran;
The Drowned City;
Krol'dok Stronghold;
Alcaz Prison;
Blackmaw Hold;
Shaper's Terrace.
Blackmaw Hold and Shaper's Terrace are particularly relevant near the level cap because their ranges extend to level 60.
Players targeting several instances can use WoW Forever All Dungeons.
Should You Farm One Dungeon for a Specific Item?
Not always.
If the item is a random boss drop, a single run does not guarantee it.
Repeated dungeon runs make more sense when the item represents a meaningful upgrade or remains relevant for pre-raid progression.
When evaluating a dungeon, consider:
item quality;
useful stats;
how many relevant drops are available;
dungeon quests;
profession recipes;
Legacy objectives;
other useful rewards.
A dungeon with several possible upgrades may be more efficient than one containing only a single desirable random item.
What Is Pre-Raid Gear?
Pre-raid gear describes equipment used to prepare a level 60 character for the first raid encounters before obtaining regular raid drops.
It does not necessarily mean one permanent fixed list.
Useful pre-raid equipment can come from several sources:
high-level dungeons;
level 60 quests;
professions;
reputations;
rare drops;
other maximum-level activities.
The primary goal is to remove major weak points and create a strong enough setup for initial raid progression.
Players targeting this stage can use WoW Forever Pre-Raid Gear.
When Should You Start Building Pre-Raid Gear?
Preparation can begin before level 60.
Once your character reaches approximately levels 55-60, it becomes more useful to pay attention to items that may remain relevant after hitting the cap.
Two new dungeons are especially important in this range:
Blackmaw Hold - levels 55-60;
Shaper's Terrace - levels 58-60.
These allow a character to finish leveling while already working toward stronger equipment.
Professions as a Gear Source
WoW Forever significantly expands professions with more than 600 new recipes.
Professions can provide:
weapons;
armor;
equipment enhancements;
consumables;
enchants;
additional utility items.
Blacksmithing, Tailoring, Leatherworking, Enchanting, and Engineering can all contribute to character preparation in different ways.
The exact value of individual crafted pieces will depend on final itemization and balance.
Players developing several trade skills can use WoW Forever Profession Leveling.
Reputation Gear and Rewards
Forever factions can also provide progression rewards as reputation increases.
The exact item lists depend on each faction, but reputation systems can offer gear, profession recipes, consumables, and other useful rewards.
Level 60 characters should therefore evaluate both dungeon progression and relevant factions when preparing for later content.
Players targeting this progression can use WoW Forever Reputation Boost.
Preparing for Your First Raid
Before entering the first raids, check the overall condition of the character rather than focusing on one arbitrary number.
Useful preparation includes:
reaching level 60;
replacing significantly weak slots;
obtaining an appropriate weapon;
developing useful professions;
preparing consumables;
completing confirmed access requirements;
meeting the expectations of your raid group.
You do not necessarily need a perfect item in every slot before entering your first raid.
Pre-raid gearing is primarily about creating a solid baseline.
The First WoW Forever Raids
The first raid stage includes three different group sizes:
Barrow Deeps - 10 players;
Hyjal Summit - 20 players;
Onyxia's Lair - 40 players.
That means raid gear is not concentrated entirely inside one activity.
Players planning broader raid progression can use WoW Forever All Raids.
Raid Gear Progression
Once raid progression begins, boss loot becomes one of the main ways to improve a maximum-level character.
WoW Forever Raid Gear focuses on this stage.
Raid drops can help with:
replacing pre-raid pieces;
improving primary stats;
upgrading weak slots;
preparing for harder encounters;
completing sets;
long-term character progression.
A specific random raid item should not be considered guaranteed from a single clear.
Item Level Is Not Everything
A higher item level generally represents stronger overall stats, but it does not automatically make every new drop best for your character.
Important factors include:
primary stats;
secondary stats;
item type;
unique effects;
existing set bonuses;
class and role.
An item with particularly useful attributes can remain valuable even when another piece has a slightly higher overall level.
Detailed comparisons will become more useful once the final Forever item database is available.
What Are Tier Sets?
Tier sets are groups of related gear pieces that provide additional benefits when several pieces are equipped together.
WoW Forever's raid design aims to distribute tier progression across raids of different sizes, giving players reasons to participate in multiple activities.
A full set therefore may not come exclusively from one raid.
Players specifically targeting this progression can use WoW Forever Tier Set.
Why Different Raid Sizes Can Stay Relevant
Barrow Deeps, Hyjal Summit, and Onyxia's Lair support 10-, 20-, and 40-player groups.
Blizzard wants to avoid a structure where the larger raid immediately makes every smaller activity obsolete.
Valuable items and tier pieces can be distributed across different raids, creating parallel progression rather than one strict sequence.
Instead of:
10-player → 20-player → 40-player,
players may continue visiting multiple raid sizes for different upgrades.
Rare Raid Chase Items
In addition to regular upgrades, Blizzard wants individual raid bosses to have particularly desirable chase items.
These items can remain relevant even after additional content becomes available, creating reasons to return to older encounters.
This makes individual boss loot tables especially important.
Once final loot data is available, class- and role-specific priority lists can be built around these items.
New Legendary Raid Reward
The first major raid phase also includes a new legendary reward.
Several important details have not yet been revealed:
item name;
eligible classes;
starting quest;
raid requirements;
materials;
exact acquisition path.
Until those details are confirmed, the legendary should be treated as a future raid objective rather than a guaranteed reward with a known route.
Molten Core and Later Gear Progression
Molten Core is planned to return later in WoW Forever rather than opening with the first raid stage.
Its eventual arrival will create another raid loot source and another step in long-term gearing.
Players preparing for that content can already find WoW Forever Molten Core.
Once the raid opens, its items can be compared against Barrow Deeps, Hyjal Summit, Onyxia, and other available gear rather than assuming every Molten Core drop is automatically better.
Can You Guarantee a Specific Raid Drop?
Not when the item uses random loot rules.
A specific boss kill may or may not produce the item you need.
The result can depend on:
the boss loot table;
drop chance;
loot distribution rules;
number of attempts;
raid composition;
additional acquisition requirements.
The correct expectation is therefore a chance to obtain random loot through eligible clears rather than an automatic specific drop from one run.
A guaranteed result should only be stated when the game system or selected service option actually supports it.
WoW Forever Gear Progression Path
A simple gearing route can be summarized like this:
Levels 1-54
Use quest rewards, dungeon gear, and professions. Avoid spending too much time chasing perfect items that will soon be replaced.
Levels 55-60
Start paying closer attention to strong dungeon items and equipment that may remain useful at the cap.
Level 60
Replace obvious weak slots through quests, dungeons, professions, and reputations.
Pre-Raid Stage
Build a reliable setup for the first raids.
Raid Progression
Replace pre-raid items with raid drops and target valuable chase items.
Tier Sets
Collect the required set pieces from available raid content.
Future Updates
Compare new drops with your existing equipment rather than replacing every piece automatically.
Which Dving Gear Service Should You Choose?
Different stages of progression have different goals.
Choose Pre-Raid Gear when the character needs preparation before raiding.
Choose Raid Gear when the goal is progression through raid loot.
Choose Tier Set when you specifically need set-piece progression.
For broader raid progression, use WoW Forever All Raids.
