WoW Forever New Zones: Levels, Access and Exploration Guide

World of Warcraft: Forever expands original Azeroth with Zephras Isle, Riverglades, Shen'dralas and Mount Hyjal. They serve different parts of the adventure: a racial starting experience, a substantial mid-level frontier, a hidden region tied to old elven history, and a maximum-level destination. They are not four consecutive zones that every character must complete.

This overview was checked on October 18, 2026. It separates announced launch content from beta availability and distinguishes outdoor zones from their associated dungeons and raids. The announced global launch is November 4 at 3:00 p.m. PST, or November 5 at 02:00 Moscow time.

More than 1,000 new quests are planned across the wider level 1-60 journey, including familiar areas. That total is not the quest count of these four zones alone. Returning to an old starting area or following a familiar road can therefore reveal new content without requiring a completely new region.

Northern Kalimdor; approach through Darkwhisper Gorge in southern Winterspring

The level bands describe intended content, not a verified minimum level for crossing every boundary. They also do not replace checking the difficulty of the particular quest or enemy in front of you. Forever has no level scaling and no flying mounts, so travel and character readiness remain part of choosing a destination.

Zephras Isle: the Skyborne beginning

Zephras Isle introduces the Skyborne, also called the shen'dorei. Their ancestors fled Eldre'Thalas and eventually found refuge in Skywall, where wind spirits anchored their island home. The current crisis begins as those benefactors disappear and the pylons holding the island together fail.

This is a level 1-12 starting experience with an elemental setting and architecture inspired by Skywall. The Windshapers, High Order and Al'Aketh are part of the island's conflict. These names describe groups in its story; their presence is not a confirmed reputation reward track for every visitor.

A Skyborne character chooses Horde or Alliance at creation. Plan that choice with friends before starting. Horde Skyborne have Shaman available, while Alliance Skyborne have Mage; both sides also offer Warrior, Hunter, Rogue and Druid. The setting does not make Skyborne a neutral race whose faction is chosen only after finishing the island.

The published Heroic Pack includes the race and starting experience, with those benefits also included in higher bundles. Regular beta access is a different entitlement. Do not treat the island as a compulsory introductory route for characters of every race, or assume that a departure guarantees unrestricted return travel from anywhere.

Riverglades: a frontier for the middle levels

Riverglades adds rivers, grasslands, trade routes and struggling settlements to a previously inaccessible part of the Eastern Kingdoms. Its surrounding geography connects it with places such as Redridge Mountains and the Burning Steppes. The intended questing band covers roughly the mid-30s to mid-40s.

Blizzard's first overview described more than 150 quests; its Found Photos recap describes nearly 200 for Horde and Alliance. These are broad descriptions of planned content, not a promise that one character can complete an exact count at launch. The useful point is the scale: this is a substantial alternative for the middle of the leveling journey.

The official sea approach runs from the Steamwheedle Cartel's route in Tanaris to Powderfuse Port. Beta route guidance also describes a land approach north through Redridge, turning east before entering the Burning Steppes. Recheck the current map and signs rather than treating an old waypoint as permanent.

Expect local conflicts involving gnolls, ogres, Powderfuse goblins, the Twilight's Hammer and the Brotherhood of the Horse. Shared regional content for both factions does not mean cross-faction parties. Pick up compatible objectives before a long excursion, and compare your remaining local quests before making another intercontinental trip.

Shen'dralas: another route into old history

Blizzard places Shen'dralas between Mulgore and Desolace and describes the approach south from Desolace through the Valley of Bones. Its story connects to the Shen'dralar, Eldre'Thalas, Dire Maul and the surrounding centaur conflicts. It expands a thread already present in Classic rather than reproducing a later expansion's entire campaign.

Independent beta coverage also describes quests leading toward Maraudon and Razorfen Downs. Treat those as possible links between outdoor questing and dungeon journeys, not proof that completing both instances is a universal entry requirement for the zone.

An exact official level range is not established in the material checked here. Do not fill the gap by copying the level range of neighboring Desolace or a related dungeon. When the region is available in your client, use actual quest levels and enemy difficulty to judge whether to continue or return later.

For a first visit, make the official southern Desolace approach your broad reference. Carry supplies and leave room for new quest items. Neither a specific reputation gate nor a complete list of faction vendors and exclusive rewards is confirmed here, so those should not determine your travel plan yet.

Mount Hyjal: the aftermath, not a replay

Mount Hyjal is presented as a level 60 destination after Archimonde's defeat. The focus is the recovering land and the alliances forming there. This is Forever's version of that aftermath, not an instruction to use Cataclysm's quest chain or the Burning Crusade raid entrance route.

Current zone guidance approaches Hyjal through Darkwhisper Gorge in southern Winterspring. The direction is useful for planning the journey, but this overview does not claim tested coordinates, an automatic portal or a universally open beta gate. Check your current client before committing to a long run.

Hyjal also connects the outdoor adventure with Hyjal Summit, the new 20-player raid. Barrow Deeps is a separate 10-player raid. Outdoor exploration, reaching level 60 and joining an organized raid are different activities; discovering the zone does not itself complete raid preparation.

Blizzard's announced new-raid opening is December 9, after the November launch. Do not confuse the zone's place in the launch world with raids being open on day one. For now, plan around the region's role and the published schedule rather than an unverified reward list, guaranteed legendary item or invented local event timer.

Build a route around your character

There is no required Zephras-Riverglades-Shen'dralas-Hyjal sequence. A non-Skyborne character begins elsewhere, and there is a large stretch between a starting island's level range and Riverglades. Familiar zones, their additional quests and suitable dungeon journeys still matter.

1. Check the character's level, faction and current content availability. A launch overview is not a list of everything enabled in today's beta.

2. Choose a destination with useful objectives for that character. Read quest levels and prerequisites rather than navigating by zone name alone.

3. Plan the approach and return journey. Check the relevant ship, outdoor road, flight connection or inn before setting off.

4. Prepare repairs, food, profession supplies and compatible group objectives. Agree on faction and ruleset if friends are joining.

The latest checked beta notes establish a level 30 cap. A level 35-45 or level 60 launch description therefore should not be read as confirmation that its intended progression can already be fully tested. Equally, the cap alone does not prove that every higher-level territory is physically inaccessible.

Four checks for an exploration route

Activities and rewards beyond the map label

Quests, professions, Camping and Legacy connect the new regions to the rest of Forever. A convenient stop can be useful for crafting or meeting other travelers, but the presence of a zone does not guarantee every camp service, gathering resource or reward at a particular location.

Judge rewards from the quest, vendor or encounter actually offering them. A story group appearing in an announcement is not enough evidence to promise an unlockable mount, a reputation shop or a repeatable event. For group content, check the dungeon or raid's own requirements and release status separately.

Existing regions are receiving additions too, including new starting-area details and expanded centaur content in Desolace. This gives you alternatives when a new region is too difficult, unavailable in beta or simply not convenient for your current journey.

Common exploration questions

Are all four zones required for level 60

No fixed four-zone completion route is announced. Choose suitable content along the wider 1-60 journey; Zephras specifically serves Skyborne characters.

Do I need a separate zone expansion purchase

Forever launch access is included with a WoW Subscription or Game Time. The optional Skyborne upgrade specifically includes the race and its starting experience; that is different from buying every outdoor zone separately.

Is a beta map a final travel guide

No. A map or data entry can reveal geography without proving that an entrance, quest chain or reward is currently enabled. Use current official updates and the client, especially before a long journey.
