WoW Forever Travel Guide: Routes, Transport and Returns
A long trip in Forever usually has several legs: reach a dock or tower, cross between major hubs by ship or zeppelin, then take a flight or walk to your objective. The useful starting question is where to arrive and how to get back. Comparing vehicle speed alone leaves out most of the journey.
Checked October 19, 2026. The current beta caps characters at level 30. You can develop your transport network now, but ordinary riding progression and late Engineering devices are not the foundation of travel in this build. Requirements, prices and individual transport effects can change before release.
Forever has no flying mounts. A flight master provides a transport service rather than free flight over every obstacle. New harbors and skyboats likewise do not turn every capital into a universal portal hub.
Your first useful travel unlocks
Find the inn and nearby flight master when entering a new questing area. Speak to the flight master to learn the stop even if you intend to continue on foot. That connection becomes useful after a training trip to the capital or when returning for a dungeon run.
Bind your Hearthstone where you expect to return over the next few sessions. A local inn suits sustained questing in one area. A capital with convenient transport may be better when you repeatedly need trainers and trading services. Changing your home replaces the destination; the stone does not keep a selectable list of inns.
Avoid touring the entire world just to collect flight points. A low-level character can spend more time reaching a dangerous stop than that stop will save. Connect your current area, a useful city and your next suitable questing region first. After a sea crossing, learn the flight point near your landing place before moving inland.

Five early actions that make the next journey easier
Flight paths: a network built through visits
Flight masters connect learned, linked stops. Use the map on the character you are playing: recognizing a city does not mean its flight point is unlocked or reachable from your current location. If the destination is missing, check both discovery and the intermediate connections.
Read the endpoint and fare before paying. A familiar town on the wrong side of a region can leave a long walk after landing. Compare the complete journey, including the last stretch from the flight master to the actual objective.
Flights have individual fares. Keep some money for the return trip as well as training and supplies. Short flights are convenient, but walking between two nearby objectives can avoid both the fare and the detour back to the flight master.
Boats, zeppelins and the city tram
Public transport does not require a personal mount. Ordinary boats, zeppelins and the Deeprun Tram are free to board. Their real cost is reaching the correct platform, waiting for departure and completing the onward leg. Avoid relying on a fixed journey time: missing one departure changes the calculation immediately.
Alliance: Stormwind now reaches northern Kalimdor
The new Stormwind Harbor to Auberdine connection provides a direct sea crossing toward Darkshore. You no longer need the old Wetlands approach for that particular journey. The Deeprun Tram still connects Stormwind and Ironforge, but its entrance is in the city rather than at the harbor.
Take particular care with the Auberdine, Menethil Harbor and Southshore service. The current beta route is documented as a one-way loop: Auberdine to Menethil Harbor to Southshore to Auberdine. Auberdine to Southshore therefore includes Menethil, while Southshore returns directly to Auberdine. Reversing the list is not a valid return itinerary.
A separate ship connects Menethil Harbor and Theramore. Auberdine also connects with Rut'theran Village. For Darnassus, allow for the onward transition from the coastal settlement rather than assuming the boat lands beside every city service.
Horde: identify the zeppelin destination
The main connections link Orgrimmar, Undercity and Grom'gol. At Orgrimmar, look outside the city for the tower. For Undercity, departures are on the Tirisfal surface rather than inside the underground capital. Different services can operate nearby, so confirm the platform and destination with its attendants.
Connection | Transport | What to remember |
Stormwind - Auberdine | Ship | New Alliance crossing between continents |
Auberdine - Menethil - Southshore | Looping ship | Follow the direction and intermediate stop |
Stormwind - Ironforge | Deeprun Tram | City entrance rather than harbor departure |
Menethil - Theramore | Separate ship | Do not confuse it with the northern loop |
Orgrimmar - Undercity | Zeppelin | Departure is outside the underground city |
Orgrimmar or Undercity - Grom'gol | Zeppelins | Choose the appropriate service |
Ratchet - Booty Bay | Ship | Neutral ports do not remove PvP risk |
Steamwheedle Port - Powderfuse Port | Ship | Coastal Tanaris connects with Riverglades |
Neutral ports: find the actual departure dock
Ratchet and Booty Bay retain a useful intercontinental connection. The new Steamwheedle Port to Powderfuse Port service links the Tanaris coast with Riverglades. Go to the coastal port itself; inland Gadgetzan is not the departure dock for this ship.
A neutral port does not make the surrounding journey safe. Check enemy levels, your PvP situation and the objective beyond the landing point. A new transport connection does not make a higher-level region's quests suitable for a level 30 character.
Zephras Isle skyboats and the Dalaran restriction
Zephras Isle's skyboats depart from Valanaar. The eastern dock serves Dalaran; the western dock connects with Skywatcher Plateau in Mulgore. Choose the continent and a safe arrival side before boarding, rather than treating the two ships as interchangeable exits.
An October fix makes Dalaran hostile to Horde characters under all circumstances. Access to the associated dungeon does not authorize unrestricted use of the city. For Horde travel, the Mulgore connection is the practical option; the Dalaran service should not be recommended as a safe route to city facilities.
Alliance Skyborne have a documented route through Dalaran with a portal to Stormwind. This is not a general portal room available to every traveler. Arriving in Mulgore likewise does not automatically teleport a Horde character to Orgrimmar: plan the onward ground journey and learned flights separately.

Three different jobs: crossing the world, linking learned stops and returning home
Hearthstone: prepare the return before leaving
Your ordinary Hearthstone returns to the selected inn. The baseline is a one-hour cooldown and a ten-second cast; check the current tooltip and any effects on your character. Damage can interrupt the cast, so reach safety first. It is not a guaranteed escape from every fight.
Use it to finish a long excursion when the bind point is where you actually need to return. Bind at your working hub, travel outward by ordinary transport and hearth after completing your tasks. Changing your home along the way changes that return plan as well.
Avoid spending a ready return on a short walk immediately before a distant expedition. Equally, keeping it unused forever provides no benefit. The value comes from a useful destination and timing, not from preserving a ready button at all costs.
Riding: prepare for later progression
Published beta material describes the ordinary mount tiers at levels 40 and 60. With the current cap at 30, those are later progression goals rather than a purchase every tester should already have made. Check the training and item requirements in your own build.
Blizzard has changed the riding economy: most of the cost moves into training, and learning riding grants the first mount. Do not budget from the old Classic split between a cheap skill and an expensive purchase. Read the current trainer's price, applicable discounts and conditions for the next option.
Owning a collection appearance and qualifying to ride on this character are separate questions. Another character earning a mount does not by itself establish that a fresh character meets the riding requirements. Likewise, do not assume old cross-race Exalted requirements without checking the current vendor and skill rules.
Class tools: check who moves and where
Mage: personal teleport versus a group portal
A Teleport moves the Mage to a learned city. A Portal lets party members travel, but requires the appropriate learned spell. A Mage having a personal teleport does not establish that they can already open the equivalent portal for everyone else.
Name the exact destination and confirm availability in the current beta before arranging a lift. Purchased runes are normally involved; the selected Legacy effect Reagent Economy removes purchased reagent requirements for class spells. Any payment to the Mage is an agreement between players rather than a fixed public transport fare.
Shaman and Druid: returns and the ground leg
A Shaman's Astral Recall uses the inn bind location. It does not create a second independent home address. Check its current timer separately, and do not destroy your Hearthstone because an older guide for another version recommends it.
Ghost Wolf helps a Shaman cover ground, while a Druid's Travel Form handles overland movement. Indoor access and ease of use depend on the current talents and ability rules. Aquatic Form helps with a swimming leg; it does not replace an intercontinental ship.
A Druid's Teleport: Moonglade has a specific destination. Before using it, consider the onward connection or return to your active questing area. A class teleport is useful when its destination suits the trip, not simply because it is available.
Warlock: summoning requires a prepared group
Ritual of Summoning brings a party member to the Warlock. The basic ritual needs two additional helpers, making three characters at the location, plus a Soul Shard. A lone Warlock without the supporting group cannot instantly assemble everyone from across the world.
Before a dungeon trip, agree who is traveling to the entrance, where the meeting point is and who will assist. Until those conditions are met, everyone needs an ordinary route as a fallback. Receiving a party invitation alone does not move a character.
Engineering and Legacy: optional additions
The Forever Engineering guide lists Ultrasafe Transporter: Gadgetzan and Dimensional Ripper - Everlook. These are specialized later tools rather than free city portals for every character. The appropriate profession, specialization and device are required; check the current recipe and tooltip for exact conditions.
Some new Engineering transfers are still documented from beta data and cannot be tested at the available cap. Do not choose the profession solely for a promised route until acquisition and function are confirmed. Boats, learned flights and a useful inn remain a sufficient foundation for ordinary questing.
Legacy offers Frequent Flier, reducing flight costs and increasing flight speed. Legacy Points are shared, but each character chooses their own improvements. Confirm that the desired improvement is actually selected on an alt.
Shared collections and points do not prove that every flight point is automatically unlocked on another character. Plan from that character's transport map. There is also no single reputation grind required for all ordinary travel: specific vendor restrictions and optional collection rewards are separate goals.
Choose the route before setting out
For a short local trip, compare walking with the detour to the flight master. For another continent, select the dock or tower first and plan both ground legs. For a capital, check an available Mage transfer, but do not build the entire plan around someone else's portal without an agreement.
A group's travel problem is larger than one player's speed. If three players are already in position to support a Warlock, a summon can finish the job. If everyone is waiting in separate capitals, ordinary travel needs to start. Establish the meeting point instead of leaving the continent unclear until the last moment.

Five checks before departing or changing your home inn
The essential foundation is a suitable route, the required learned stops, enough money for flights and a clear return. Completing collections, training Engineering, selecting every Legacy upgrade and visiting distant regions in order are optional. Develop the network when a real journey needs it, and land where your next useful task begins.
