WoW Midnight Captain Tokka Reputation Guide: Fishing and Rewards

Captain Tokka is a fishing-focused friendship faction introduced on the Coiled Isle in Midnight's Curse of Ula'tek update. Its five named ranks are separate from Zul'jarra's Forces Renown. You help a tortollan captain whose ship and crew were lost to the island's curse, learn additional fishing methods and unlock a collection of profession recipes, housing decorations and cosmetics.

There are two distinct goals. First, earn 8,400 total reputation to reach Bloodsworn Crew. Then buy The Coiled Huntress fishing rod and use it to collect Coiled Filament for the Sea-Dwelling Isle Serpent and weapon appearances. Reaching the final rank does not automatically grant the mount or its currency.

If the serpent is your main target, reserve 6,000 Voidlight Marl for the rod before buying optional decorations. Keeping that purchase funded prevents an avoidable delay after the reputation work is finished.

How to start and where to go

Progress through the Curse of Ula'tek campaign until the Original Sin storyline is complete and Tokka's Crew becomes available. Captain Tokka is at Tokka's Landing, the island's main camp, around 57.2, 48.6. Start Venom Fishing: Proof is in the Ooze and follow the available fishing quests.

Venom Fishing: My Second-Best sends you to Tokka's Folly, the small island west of the landing, and opens the crew's repeatable tasks. Return to the storyline as further steps become available; some fishing access is tied to that progression. Do not assume the entire chain must be finished before doing your first daily quests.

Three stops matter for the main reward route:

Purpose

Captain Tokka

Tokka's Landing, 57.2, 48.6

Storyline and friendship progression

Second Mate Sluggs

Tokka's Folly, 51.6, 49.8

Reputation rewards and crew tasks

Seasage Polo

Tokka's Folly, 51.6, 49.9

Converts the rod's stored Venom into Coiled Filament

These are Coiled Isle map coordinates, not an entrance route. You can place a map pin manually; a slash-command waypoint requires an appropriate addon.

Reputation ranks and thresholds

The following numbers are cumulative thresholds from the start of the faction. The middle column is not the amount needed within each individual rank.

Final rank

Reaching Bloodsworn Crew completes Captain Tokka's Crew. The mount, fishing rod and cosmetic purchases are separate objectives. For example, a character at 5,300 total reputation still needs 3,100, rather than another 8,400.

Reliable reputation sources

Story quests and daily crew tasks

Complete each available chapter of Tokka's story, then make the tasks on Tokka's Folly your regular visit. These are daily opportunities, not unlimited turn-ins that refresh after every fishing trip. Pick up the day's objectives before collecting their requirements.

Crew activities include handing in fish and fighting the requested enemy. Check the active quest reward and objective in your log instead of assuming every task gives the same amount of reputation. If today's tasks are complete and there is no new story chapter, another lap around the vendor will not create a fresh set.

Open Sea Fishing

The Open Sea Fishing world quest awards 500 reputation when available. Follow its active map marker and the vessel-based objective. Treat it as a scheduled opportunity and check whether your current progression has unlocked it; do not build a daily plan around it always being present. The reputation tracker lists this world quest from Venom Trawler.

Quest items recovered while fishing

Unusual objects caught around the island can start reputation quests associated with Treasures of the Damned. There are ten such items, and their hand-ins award 150 reputation apiece. Those reputation rewards are once per Warband, so repeating an already completed discovery on another character is not a new source of the same bonus.

Keep a newly caught quest item until you have checked its use and your achievement progress. The theoretical total for all ten is 1,500 reputation, but it is a finite collection bonus. It is not 150 reputation for every ordinary fish.

Encounters summoned by fishing

Fishing can bring up enemies such as Master Grenadier Birdie, whose defeat can award 50 reputation. This is a supplement to the daily route. Current reputation-tracking data limits rewarded fishing encounters to three per week, so do not plan an unlimited reputation grind around repeated summons.

Normal catches themselves do not continuously increase the friendship bar. They help through active objectives, new quest items and eligible encounters. Once those opportunities are exhausted, decide whether you still want materials or collection progress before extending the session.

WoW Midnight Captain Tokka Reputation Guide: Fishing and Rewards

Four priorities for Captain Tokka reputation

Three fishing methods, three access rules

Venom Fishing and Temple Fishing expand the waters and nodes you can use through Tokka's Crew progression. Temple Fishing includes the Vaults of Atal'Utek. Keep advancing the side story when a new step becomes available rather than trying to solve every missing pool with a different rod.

Cursed Fishing has an additional event condition. Complete Venom Fishing: Shell of Yourself to learn it, then visit the location of a defeated Cursed Surge. The local fishing opportunity lasts up to 30 minutes. Killing the event boss alone does not replace the quest unlock, and owning The Coiled Huntress is not the initial requirement for this fishing method.

Check the active event marker and timer in the game. A temporary fishing window is different from a permanent profession unlock. Also check the faction named in a quest reward: an island activity rewarding Zul'jarra's Forces does not thereby award Captain Tokka friendship.

What to buy from Second Mate Sluggs

Reputation unlocks access; the listed currency pays for the item. Profession recipes can also require the relevant profession and skill. Meeting a faction rank is not a substitute for those requirements.

At Cursed Angler, four further recipes cost 150 of their respective profession's Artisan Moxie each: Alluring Nostrum for Alchemy, Proudmoore Ship-in-a-Bottle for Engineering, Mounted Moby for Leatherworking and Opalescent Amani Peridot for Jewelcrafting. Check your profession before spending its Moxie; these are different purchases from the Marl-funded recipes above.

Housing and smaller purchases

Doomed Sailor offers Aged Tortollan Scroll Case for 150 Marl and Yellowed Kelp Pile for 250. Cursed Angler adds Hanging Yellowed Kelp for 250. At Venom Trawler, Rustic Fishing Rack costs 500 and Blue Tortollan Signpost costs 250. Traditional Tortollan Tent costs 500 at Bloodsworn Crew. All of these prices use Voidlight Marl.

Eerie Lure costs 10 Marl and helps with unusual island catches for 30 minutes. Sluggs also sells Shredded Bloomline and Shredded Glimmerline for 10 Coiled Filament each. If you are saving for the serpent, count those small purchases against the same currency budget instead of treating them as free extras.

The Coiled Huntress and the mount currency

At Bloodsworn Crew, purchase The Coiled Huntress and equip it in your Fishing profession equipment. Its special effects include becoming a fast-swimming, water-breathing snake underwater in Midnight zones. Its important role for this route is storing Venom from successful island catches.

Use this sequence after buying the rod:

1. Equip The Coiled Huntress and fish in the waters of the Coiled Isle.

2. Check the Venom counter on the rod's tooltip. Each successful catch adds one stack; grey junk does not count.

3. Visit Seasage Polo on Tokka's Folly and use the ritual that cleanses the rod.

4. Receive one Coiled Filament per Venom stack and spend the converted currency with Sluggs.

The stored counter is not yet a spendable currency balance. If the vendor says you cannot afford an item despite a large amount of Venom, visit Polo before returning to the shop. If the counter does not rise at all, check the equipped profession tool, your location and whether your catches are junk.

The Coiled Huntress currency conversion sequence

The mount alone needs 2,500 converted stacks. The three weapon appearances together cost another 2,000, bringing the mount-plus-weapons target to 4,500 Coiled Filament before optional line fragments. For example, 900 Filament and 300 unconverted Venom will leave you at 1,200 after the ritual, still 1,300 short of the mount.

Compare fishing spots by successful catches, travel and interruptions. A stationary session can be more convenient than chasing scattered pools, but low skill and junk catches change the result. There is no useful fixed hours-to-mount promise that fits every character and fishing session.

Navigator Otoola is a separate shop

Navigator Otoola stands near Tokka in Tokka's Landing. Her wares do not require Captain Tokka reputation, but purchases can use unusual starfish as well as Voidlight Marl. She also exchanges some more common starfish for rarer ones.

Pristine Polygon, Bulbous Benthos and Beached Asteroid are worth checking against her stock before selling. Otoola's Recognition and Gold Starfish toys, as well as profession recipes, belong to this separate exchange. A missing Tokka rank is therefore not the first thing to investigate when one of her purchases is unavailable; inspect the requested items and profession conditions.

A practical plan for each stage

Before maximum friendship, collect the day's crew tasks, complete available story steps and check Open Sea Fishing. Use fishing time for those objectives and new treasure quests. Track the remaining reputation separately from the Marl you are saving for the rod.

After maximum friendship, change the session's goal to successful catches with The Coiled Huntress. Check its counter at the start, convert at Polo when convenient and buy your chosen reward before diverting Filament to secondary purchases. Continuing the same reputation routine is not the currency-conversion step.

Why are Cursed Fishing pools missing?

Check that Shell of Yourself is complete, that the relevant Surge boss has been defeated and that its local window is still active. Those conditions matter more than whether you already own the final-rank rod.

Does Bloodsworn Crew give the serpent immediately?

It unlocks the purchase route. You still need the rod, successful catches, conversion at Polo and 2,500 Filament for the mount.

Can another character repeat treasure reputation?

The ten treasure-item reputation rewards are once per Warband. Plan around remaining discoveries, rather than counting the same completed item again on each character.

What should I buy first?

For the mount route, reserve Marl for The Coiled Huntress, then save Filament for the serpent. If your goal is a recipe or housing item instead, stop at its actual required rank and currency target; you do not need to finish every cosmetic purchase.
