WoW Midnight Delves Guide: Tiers, Valeera and Rewards
Delves give WoW Midnight characters a progression route that works without a fixed party. Enter alone or with up to five players, choose the difficulty and complete the scenario's objectives. Standard Delves do not use a Mythic+ timer, so controlling a dangerous pull is usually more valuable than rushing into the next one.
A useful first target is reliable Tier 8 Bountiful completion, a properly configured Valeera and progress toward Great Vault choices. Once that routine is comfortable, move into Tier 11 rewards, the seasonal Nemesis Azta'rec or the longer Labyrinth of Kindo'jan. Those activities share a system but ask different things of your character and your schedule.
This guide is checked for Midnight Season 2 and patch 12.1.5 as of October 15, 2026. It covers locations, tier access, companion setup, chest rules, equipment, the seasonal Journey and separate challenge encounters. Item levels refer to Season 2 rather than the expansion's launch rewards.
Start at the headquarters and check your unlocks
The Delver's Headquarters is in Silvermoon City, around 52.4, 78.2 on the city map. Valeera Sanguinar offers seasonal quests here, while the Delver's Guide lets you inspect Journey progress, current Bountiful Delves and companion settings. The Season 2 introduction starts with Seasonal Refresher: Midnight at level 90.
The introduction is useful for learning the vendors and unlocking extra poisons. It is not a substitute for higher-tier access requirements. Tier 4 and above require Midnight Delves: Endgame on at least one character. If a tier remains locked, read its requirement in the entrance interface rather than repeating seasonal quests in the hope of bypassing it.
Tier progression applies across the system. You do not need to unlock the same difficulty separately at every entrance. Start with an available tier and move upward after a controlled clear. The interface's recommended item level is a preparation reference, not a guarantee that a particular build will survive every mechanic.
A first-session checklist
- Visit the headquarters and inspect the seasonal quests.
- Choose Valeera's role, two Curios and a poison.
- Clear a familiar Delve at a manageable tier and learn its revive rules.
- Before pushing higher, decide whether the next run is for gear, Vault credit, Journey progress or a challenge.

Find the right entrance
Season 2 has twelve standard Delves: ten from the initial selection and two added on the Coiled Isle. The lairs for Nullaeus and Azta'rec are separate Nemesis encounters. Patch 12.1.5 adds the Labyrinth of Kindo'jan, a much larger activity than a standard scenario.
Region | Standard Delves | Where to look |
Silvermoon and Eversong Woods | Collegiate Calamity, The Darkway, The Shadow Enclave | City buildings and docks; southern Eversong Woods |
Isle of Quel'Danas | Parhelion Plaza | A tower west of the Sunwell |
Zul'Aman | Atal'Aman, Twilight Crypts | The temple near the Eversong border and the region's southwestern area |
Harandar | The Grudge Pit, The Gulf of Memory | Follow the Delve icons on the Harandar map |
Voidstorm | Shadowguard Point, Sunkiller Sanctum | Two standard entrances, separate from Nullaeus's lair |
Coiled Isle | Gnarldor Isle, The Ring of Glory | The small southern island and the eastern part of the Coiled Isle |
Gnarldor Isle is around 64.4, 77.7, and The Ring of Glory around 71.2, 56.5 on the Coiled Isle map. Venomfall Deeps, Azta'rec's lair, has its own entrance at 51.23, 30.70. Confirm the map before using coordinates: the same numbers on another zone's map will not identify the same entrance.
Bountiful Delves have glowing map icons and rotate at the daily reset. A familiar Delve can also have different scenario objectives. Read the current task list when you enter instead of assuming the route will always play out exactly as it did yesterday.
Choose the tier that advances your goal
Tiers 1-3 are suitable for learning objectives, enemy abilities and companion behavior. Further equipment progression depends on Bountiful rewards and keys. Raising the difficulty of a non-Bountiful run does not turn it into a Bountiful one.
Tier 8 is the main reference point for the standard Bountiful Coffer and Great Vault equipment tables. Those baseline rewards do not increase again simply because you enter Tier 9, 10 or 11. Higher tiers instead matter for crests, achievements and rewards unlocked through later Journey progression.
For example, Tier 9 and above can become relevant to Warband equipment after the appropriate Journey unlock, while Tier 11 supports Gilded Stashes and further late-track rewards. Whether you stay at 8 or push higher should therefore depend on what is unlocked and how reliably you complete the run.
Understand the revive budget
Standard Tiers 1-3 have no death limit. Tiers 4-8 start with five revives, Tier 9 with four, and Tiers 10-11 with three. Reaching a checkpoint adds a revive and gives you a place to repair or adjust the companion.
Watch the live counter. Exhausting the budget threatens the Bountiful Coffer and any conditions requiring revives remaining. If the attempt can no longer deliver the reward you came for, a lower tier or a fresh start may be more useful than finishing solely for the completion message.
Configure Valeera before the difficult pull
Valeera joins solo characters and groups of up to four players. She does not accompany a full five-player party. Her assigned role is independent of your own specialization.
Valeera role | When to try it | Your responsibility |
Healer | Health recovery and support are the limiting factors | Move out of hazards and plan personal defensives |
Tank | You need help holding enemies | Monitor her condition and avoid an unmanageable pull |
Damage dealer | You already survive consistently | Control incoming damage and stop important casts |
Healer is often a comfortable starting point while learning a dangerous encounter. Damage dealer becomes worth comparing when survival is under control. These are setup suggestions, not a compulsory companion choice for every class and every tier.
Curios and poisons in Season 2
Valeera equips one Combat Curio, one Utility Curio and a separate poison. Corrosive Bilespear with Dundun's Favor is a practical starting combination for ordinary runs. For Azta'rec, consider Soul-Cracking Dreamcatcher, whose benefit interacts with interrupts and crowd control against elites.
Poisons solve different problems. Bloodcrypt Toxin helps reduce enemy pressure, Soulthirst Venom supports survival, and Phantasmal Spore Toxin adds control. Three extra choices unlock through the seasonal introduction. Before a hard attempt, verify that the desired option is equipped rather than merely available.
Patch 12.1.5 adds Viperwind Idol and Dusty Loa Totem, along with Rank 5 versions of seasonal Curios. Rank 5 acquisition is tied to the Labyrinth, its own Journey and Tier 8 or higher runs. Older descriptions that stop at Rank 4 no longer describe the complete current system.
Separate the chests before spending keys
A Restored Coffer Key opens the Bountiful Coffer at the end of a Bountiful Delve. Keys and their shards come from relevant quests and outdoor activities. If your character can finish reliably, saving keys for Tier 8 or higher gives access to the upper baseline coffer reward.
Not every chest in the treasure room consumes a key. Regular trunks, the Nemesis Strongbox and Gilded Stash each follow their own rules. One-time Sturdy Chests hidden inside the scenario are another category entirely: they support exploration rather than providing another repeatable daily Bountiful reward.
Reward source | Requirement | Why it matters |
Bountiful Coffer | Bountiful run, a qualifying result and a Restored Coffer Key | The main scaling completion reward |
Delver's Bounty | An activated map followed by an eligible Delve completion | An additional Hidden Trove, with rewards tied to tier |
Nemesis Strongbox | Defeat additional seasonal enemy packs | A separate return for taking on extra risk |
Gilded Stash | Journey Rank 4, Tier 11 Bountiful completion with revives remaining | Myth Mistcrests without spending a key on this stash |
Sturdy Chest | Discover a particular one-time treasure | Exploration, companion experience and achievement progress |
A Delver's Bounty map is worth saving for Tier 8 or higher to reach its standard upper reward. It does not replace a coffer key. Read the map's condition and make sure the selected run is realistic before consuming it.

Read the equipment table correctly
The following are baseline Season 2 rewards. The Bountiful Coffer column assumes that you actually open that chest with a key. It does not describe every additional source enabled by later Journey ranks.
Tier | Bountiful Coffer | Great Vault |
1 | 266 | 279 |
2 | 269 | 282 |
3 | 272 | 285 |
4 | 276 | 289 |
5 | 279 | 292 |
6 | 282 | 298 |
7 | 292 | 302 |
8-11 | 295, Champion 2/6 | 305, Hero 1/6 |
The Great Vault's World row uses thresholds of 2, 4 and 8 eligible weekly activities. Delves contribute alongside other qualifying content. Unlocking three slots provides three choices, not three items: you select one weekly reward from the Great Vault.
If you want all three World options at the upper baseline level through Delves alone, eight Tier 8-or-higher completions provide a straightforward plan. One high-tier run mixed with several lower completions does not mean every unlocked choice will have the same quality. Inspect each slot's progress and tooltip before deciding that the weekly objective is finished.
At Journey Rank 4, Tier 11 Bountiful clears with revives remaining can award Gilded Stashes. The current reference is seven Myth Mistcrests each, up to three such rewards per week for 21 in total. Opening the stash does not require a key; the Bountiful Coffer beside it still does.
Use the Delver's Journey to plan the next milestone
The seasonal Journey is shared across the Warband. Bountiful completions and related rewards advance it, with keyed coffer openings adding their own contribution. Look at the next useful unlock rather than treating all completed scenarios as identical progress.
Journey rank | Important unlock | Practical use |
4 | Tier 11 Gilded Stashes | A separate reason to learn the highest standard tier |
5 | Corroded Soul Crusher purchase; Zah'ran appears from Tier 6 | A collection target and an equipment vendor |
7 | Delve-O-Bot 7001 Midnight update chip | More convenient travel |
8 | Chance of Champion Warband equipment from Tier 9+ | More value for other characters |
9 | Additional Hero rewards and Untainted Mana-Crystals | Expanded Tier 11 rewards and Zah'ran purchases |
At Rank 9, Tier 11 Bountiful Coffers gain a chance to provide a Hero item or mana-crystals; Tiers 8-10 can also award smaller crystal quantities. This is a Journey upgrade, so it does not contradict the Tier 8 ceiling in the baseline table. It is not a guaranteed Hero item on every clear.
Telemancer Astrandis and Naleidea Rivergleam are based at the headquarters. Their stock includes cosmetics, housing items, toys and purchases gated by Journey progress. Check the live vendor's price and currency for the item you want. Older tables contain conflicting and zero values that should not be interpreted as free purchases.
Azta'rec is a separate seasonal challenge
Season 2's Nemesis resides in Venomfall Deeps on the Coiled Isle. Tier ? opens after a Tier 7 Delve clear with at least one revive remaining, while Tier ?? requires a Tier 10 clear with the same condition during Season 2. Access to the encounter is one milestone; being ready to beat it is another.
Try Healer Valeera while learning. If you have reliable self-healing and effect removal, compare Damage Dealer instead. Keep defensive abilities and an interrupt available for the mechanics that need them rather than spending everything at the first opportunity.
Priorities during the encounter
Sidestep the directed poison cone and moving waves, and avoid leaving yourself without a safe escape route. Reserve a reliable interrupt for Soul Extinction. Void Toxin also needs attention through interruption or effect removal. Tanks should prepare mitigation for Serpent's Strike.
During Sermon of Ula'tek, remember the sequence of safe areas and repeat the movement without a second set of indicators. Tier ?? adds an Echo of Azta'rec. Save damage cooldowns to remove it promptly while retaining a way to stop the main boss's dangerous cast. The encounter tests memory, movement and control alongside damage output.

Apophic Soul Crusher requires the Tier ?? solo achievement, with no other players in the party, before the next Delve season. A group kill does not satisfy that condition. Fabled Let Me Solo Him: Azta'rec was restricted to Season 2's first week and is no longer an open objective on this guide's check date. The normal seasonal solo reward and the early prestige achievement have different windows.
Fit the Labyrinth into a different kind of session
Labyrinth of Kindo'jan contains nine chambers, its own progression track, secrets and rewards. Its entrance is north of Amani Pass at the Eversong border. One introduction route begins with The Labyrinth from Kul'amara the Fierce at Tokka's Landing, then leads to Valeera and the opening chambers.
You can earn rewards from part of the complex, but a full clear needs a larger block of time. Leaving currently does not preserve the unfinished run for continuation from the same point. Warband access and Journey advancement are persistent system progress; they are not the same as saving the current attempt.
Completing three chambers at the current difficulty opens the next. Rank 5 Curios can begin appearing from the appropriate Labyrinth chests at Tier 8 or higher after unlocking the first rank of its own Journey. They are not a guaranteed entrance reward or a standard drop from every Tier 8 Delve.
Loa-Blessed Wayfarer is a separate collection goal for defeating Kindo'jan solo on Tier 11 during Season 2. It does not replace Azta'rec's reward and is not awarded for a group Labyrinth completion. On an initial visit, focus on the available chambers and the abilities unlocked by local progression before committing to the solo challenge.
A weekly routine that leaves room to learn
Choose a weekly target of 2, 4 or 8 eligible activities for one, two or three World-row choices. Choose a tier you can clear with revives left, spend keys on useful Bountiful rewards, and add Journey progress or one-time exploration along the way.
If Rank 4 is unlocked and Tier 11 is comfortable, include up to three Gilded Stash rewards. Put Azta'rec attempts and a full Labyrinth clear in separate sessions. That keeps learning a difficult encounter from displacing the weekly reward you intended to secure.
Patch 12.1.5 also increases recipe drop rates in Delves. Another change belongs to the upcoming week of October 20: after the relevant quest progression, Ascendant Venomstones will become available from sources including Tier 11 Bountiful Delves. On October 15, that future unlock should not be treated as loot you can already obtain.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need Tier 11 for a 305 Great Vault reward?
No. Tier 8 reaches that baseline reward. Tier 11 supports other goals, including Gilded Stashes and later Journey unlocks.
Do all Delve rewards require a key?
No. A key opens the Bountiful Coffer. Vault progress, achievements, one-time treasures and separate stashes follow their own conditions.
Will Valeera join five players?
No. She accompanies solo characters or an incomplete party of up to four players.
Can I take three items from three World slots?
No. Those slots expand your choice; the Great Vault still provides one selected weekly reward.
