WoW Midnight Patch 12.0.5: Activities, Rewards and Changes
Patch 12.0.5 arrived on April 21, 2026 on the US release schedule, expanding WoW Midnight's first season. Its additions served different purposes: fighting the Void outdoors, tackling adjustable small-group scenarios, earning extra equipment, or taking a break with underwater exploration and magical hide-and-seek. It continued Season 1 rather than starting Season 2.
This overview covers that update and was checked on October 16, 2026. Some seasonal systems have since changed: the original Voidforge is no longer used, and Decor Duels ended before Curse of Ula'tek. The Season 1 rules below explain the patch; they are not a current gearing route.
Addition | Original purpose |
Void Assaults | Shared outdoor encounters in Eversong Woods and Zul'Aman |
Ritual Sites | Instanced adventures for 1-5 players with selectable challenges |
Voidforge | Bonus loot and later weapon and trinket upgrades during Season 1 |
Abyss Anglers | Repeatable dives, diving equipment progression and collections |
Decor Duels | Seven-versus-seven prop hunt in Silvermoon, with collection rewards |
Void Assaults: from local attacks to a larger encounter
The active zone rotated weekly between Eversong Woods and Zul'Aman. Smaller Void Strikes moved around that zone: when one was defeated, another began elsewhere. That distinction mattered because the system was an ongoing chain of encounters, not a single short appointment for the entire week.
Enough completed Strikes brought on a larger Void Incursion that needed more participants. For someone playing alone, the useful feature was the shared progression. You could contribute to outdoor fights and join the larger objective with other players without arranging a permanent raid team beforehand.
Void Assaults and Ritual Sites shared Field Accolades as a reward currency. Purchases included equipment and collectibles. A sensible spending plan started with one goal: repair a weak equipment slot or save for an appearance. Counting the same currency toward both plans made the next purchase less clear.

Ritual Sites: choose the group size and challenge
Ritual Sites offered instanced adventures that scaled for 1-5 players. Additional challenges adjusted the difficulty. Patch 12.0.5 originally introduced five tiers; Tier 6 arrived later in 12.0.7 and should not be treated as part of the original launch.
Site | Location and opponents |
Daggerspine Point | Naga in Eversong Woods |
Broken Throne | Twilight's Blade cultists in Zul'Aman |
The resemblance to Delves did not make the rules identical. Ritual Sites did not provide a Delve companion. A solo character therefore needed to account for personal survival and control, while a small group could distribute those jobs. Learning the basic scenario before stacking challenges was more useful than selecting every option and repeatedly failing to finish.
Completions awarded Field Accolades and advanced Ritual Site Renown. They also counted toward the Great Vault's World row alongside Delves and Prey. That gave outdoor-focused players another way to build a weekly reward. Currency purchases and the Vault remained separate sources, however; they were not two labels for the same chest.
Voidforge: bonus loot and upgrades were different systems
Decimus built the Voidforge in the Voidstorm. Completing its construction unlocked bonus loot, while a later project involving the Ascendant Nilhammer opened a separate equipment upgrade system. Finishing the first project did not automatically complete the second.
Resource | Season 1 function |
Nebulous Voidcore | Obtain a random eligible item from a particular loot source |
Ascendant Voidcore | Empower an eligible weapon or trinket after a separate unlock |
How the extra loot worked
After an eligible boss or completed activity, players could spend Nebulous Voidcores on a random item appropriate for their Loot Specialization. This was not a vendor purchase of a named trinket. An item obtained through a bonus roll was removed from that pool until the eligible items had been exhausted, tracked separately by difficulty.
The useful decision was therefore which pool to target. A boss with three eligible items and a dungeon with six offered different possibilities, but the roll cost also differed. Compare the remaining useful items rather than assuming that the source with the cheaper individual roll always offered better value. Gear obtained normally beforehand did not automatically turn the next roll into the one missing item you wanted.
Completed Season 1 activity | Cost of one bonus item |
Raid boss | 2 Nebulous Voidcores |
Mythic+ dungeon | 1 Nebulous Voidcore |
Bountiful Delve or Nightmare Prey hunt | 1 Nebulous Voidcore |
The purchase allowance grew by two cores each week. That was not a promise of two items every time you logged in. Once the forge was unlocked, an additional core could also be bought for six Thalassian Tokens of Merit without using Decimus' growing allowance.
What the Ascendant Nilhammer could improve
After a separate warband project, Ascendant Voidcores could empower fully upgraded Hero and Myth weapons and trinkets, plus eligible maximum-quality Radiance Crafted equipment of those types. This was not an upgrade for every armor slot. Before spending the resource, the practical checks were whether the item qualified and whether it was likely to stay in the character's equipment set.
These are Season 1 rules. The old Voidforge has been retired as of this article's check date. A present-day bonus-loot system needs its own unlock and cost checks rather than inheriting these old instructions.

Abyss Anglers: progress through repeatable dives
Abyss Anglers introduced underwater runs off Zul'Aman's coast, starting with Depthdiver Jeju on an offshore island. Special diving equipment and a harpoon supported fishing, creature capture and treasure collection for points. The activity had its own actions and equipment progression rather than being ordinary fishing at a different shoreline.
Oxygen limited a dive. Underwater vents replenished the supply, while equipment improvements made later attempts easier. A useful first run was reconnaissance: find air sources, learn how returning to the surface works, and then plan a longer route. Trying to collect everything immediately could leave oxygen as the limiting factor before the route was understood.
Angler Pearls paid for upgrades and rewards, including housing decorations, diving appearances and a capybara companion. Set a collection target and identify the upgrade that helps reach it. Judging every dive only by combat item level misses why this activity was added.
Decor Duels: seven players on each team
Decor Duels added prop hunt in Silvermoon. Two teams of seven took turns hiding as objects and seeking their opponents. During the event, players could queue through Quick Match on the Group Finder's PvP tab. Despite that location in the interface, this was not normal combat with character deaths.
Seekers had to expose a hidden player and then tag them out; revealing a disguise alone did not finish the job. Hiders used tools such as decoys to evade detection. Illusionary Coins bought housing decor, toys, weapon appearances and a mount.
This is a description of the original event, not an invitation to queue today. Blizzard ended Decor Duels before Curse of Ula'tek. Its closing announcement kept housing decor available from Silvermoon vendors for Voidlight Marl. That exception did not preserve the matches or guarantee that every former reward remained obtainable.
Mythic+, classes and professions
Lindormi's Glow highlighted selected enemy forces even when Lindormi's Guidance was not active. Defeating all highlighted enemies fulfilled the dungeon's enemy-forces requirement. Players enabled it through Lindormi, and the party's tank needed to have opted in for it to activate in the dungeon. It helped identify targets but did not choose safe pull sizes, handle dangerous casts or replace route decisions.
Season 1 achievement | Requirement when introduced |
Midnight Keystone Myth: Season One | At least 3400 Mythic+ Rating; rewarded a Timelost Saddle |
Umbral Champion: Midnight Season One | Finish the season among the top 1% of players in the region by Mythic+ Rating |
Those requirements belonged to a particular season. Blizzard explicitly allowed for future threshold changes. A rating of 3400 should not be carried forward as a permanent rule for every subsequent season.
Class changes included new talents and altered interactions, not just numerical tuning. One example was the Evoker's Battle Visage, which automatically used Visage outside spells requiring the draconic form. For present-day play, check the current specialization build; the 12.0.5 change list cannot substitute for a current class guide.
Profession changes made food and vendor refreshments restore health and mana by percentages, slowed Deftness scaling, and added one Fused Vitality to profession weekly quests. These were supply and usability changes, not a reason to assign one compulsory profession to every class.
Housing, interface and transmog improvements
Housing changes reduced the work of finding and arranging decor. Items could be linked in chat, dyed variants shared a Catalog card, and changing an exterior type preserved the home's position and rotation. The attached-decor warning was still worth reading before confirming an exterior change.
Change | Practical benefit |
Decor links and Inspect Decor | Find a Catalog entry after seeing an item in another home |
Minimized built-in Damage Meter | Keep its header visible while freeing screen space |
Defensive icon and frame settings | Adjust combat information to suit the interface |
Weather and Time of Day outfit situations | Tie appearances to environmental conditions |
The /outfit x command selected an outfit by its number. There was an important toggle behavior: /outfit without a number, or choosing an outfit already equipped, cleared the transmog instead. Using /outfit !x avoided that toggle-off behavior. Testing a saved outfit outside group preparation was the safer way to learn the command.
Which activities made sense for different players?
During Season 1, gearing priorities started with the appropriate Voidforge unlock and a useful loot source. Solo progression could use Ritual Sites and the World Vault row. Collection plans could instead focus on outdoor currency, diving rewards or the limited prop-hunt event. These were different goals rather than an obligation to complete every system every week.

When returning to this overview later, check availability first. An old feature list explains how Midnight developed, but an ended event should not become a mandatory weekly task. The same applies to comparing historical Season 1 rewards with current equipment: the game version changes the value of that comparison.
Frequently asked questions
Did Patch 12.0.5 start Season 2?
No. It expanded Season 1. The US launch date was April 21, 2026.
Did a Nebulous Voidcore guarantee a chosen item?
It awarded a random eligible item for the selected Loot Specialization. Protection against repeats within the appropriate pool did not provide a free choice of any named item.
Were Ritual Sites group-only?
No. They supported 1-5 players, but did not include a Delve companion.
Can I still queue for Decor Duels using this guide?
No. The event ended before Curse of Ula'tek. Continued decor purchases are a separate matter from match availability.
