WoW Midnight Patch 12.0.7: Revelations Overview
Revelations, World of Warcraft: Midnight patch 12.0.7, expanded the first season with two rotating outdoor areas, a separate rune progression system, a one-boss raid and more reasons to revisit older dungeons. It also continued the campaign and added smaller story and collection activities.
The update launched on June 16, 2026 in North America and June 17 in Europe. This overview was checked on October 17, 2026: the patch is already released, and its summer event dates are historical. Original Season 1 rewards are identified as such rather than presented as today's endgame gearing targets.
The most useful way to approach the update is by goal. Unlocking a system, collecting an appearance and earning current equipment are different tasks, even when they send you to the same area.
Addition | What it brought |
Val and Naigtal | Rotating worlds with quests, rare enemies and world bosses |
Omnium Folio | Runes and weekly character-power progression outside gear slots |
Sporefall | A single-boss raid in Harandar, including flexible Mythic groups |
Ritual Sites Tier 6 | A harder outdoor challenge introduced during Season 1 |
Dragonflight Timewalking | Six dungeons added to the recurring event lineup |
Story and collections | Lorewalking, Jan'alai's eggs and a new campaign chapter |
Release dates and staged content
Not every feature arrived on the patch's first day. The summer schedule separated the main release, a micro-holiday, the Timewalking series and the campaign continuation.
Original date or week | Release milestone |
June 16 / June 17 | Main update, North America / Europe |
June 27 | Start of the Darkspear Dash micro-holiday |
June 30-August 11 | The announced Turbulent Timeways event window |
Week of July 7 | Zul'jan campaign continuation |
These are release-history dates. They do not establish which event is active when you log in now. Check the in-game calendar before planning a Timewalking session or looking for a temporary vendor.

How to read the original release schedule
If you are returning after a break, first identify which unlocks your character is missing. A completed calendar event and an unfinished permanent questline should not appear on the same urgent checklist.
Val and Naigtal
The Showdown areas take the fight behind the Void assaults to two very different worlds. Naigtal is a fungal, magic-rich landscape occupied by the Hal'hadar ethereals. Val is a frozen world where Imperator Pertinax has established a stronghold. Each includes outdoor objectives and a world boss.

The two rotating Showdown worlds
Access and weekly rotation
Begin with Riftblade Maella in Silvermoon City and follow the introduction. The original route leads through a portal in Voidstorm; the current area guide also documents a Silvermoon portal after the introduction. You do not freely pick between both worlds on each visit: the destination rotates weekly.
Normal and Heroic World Tier are separate difficulty choices. Higher difficulty is a decision about survivability and group readiness, not simply a button for better rewards. Check the activity description and your available support before committing.
Do the introduction before organizing a group around a specific objective. If a portal or quest is missing, inspect your quest log and available Important quests before assuming the content has been removed. The zone guide documents introduction skips after the questlines have been completed once.
What remains useful later
Quests, exploration and collection goals give the areas value beyond their release week. Equipment requires more care: Season 2 changed several outdoor reward tracks. The later official notes specify Season 2 Adventurer equipment from rares, while the original world-boss drops and the Mythic quest rewards from Knocking off the Top (Heroic) remain Season 1 items and cannot be upgraded.
Before spending an evening farming, inspect the actual reward. Compare its season, upgrade track and slot with what you already own. A familiar activity name does not guarantee that every reward attached to it has moved to the latest season.
Omnium Folio and runes
The Omnium Folio is obtained through a questline involving Magister Umbric, Grand Magister Rommath and the Sunstrider Omnium. The starting quest is The Magisters' Call, available through the Magister's Missive near the Field Accolade vendors in Silvermoon.
Unlike a powerful ring or cloak, the Folio does not occupy an equipment slot. Its interface offers rune choices, with a Core Rune forming the starting point and later choices modifying the system. Rune choices can be changed outside combat. It was designed to remain relevant through the rest of Midnight rather than expire with this single patch.
Progression and alternate characters
The original progression has five choice rows, beginning with the introduction and continuing through weekly quests. Choose one option per row. Treat the system as part of character preparation: inspect unlocked rows after receiving progress, then select effects that fit your role and specialization.
Account-wide progress does not mean every character can skip every prerequisite. A June hotfix made weekly prerequisites account-wide from Week 2, while explicitly retaining the Sunstrider Omnium unlock questline on alternate characters. Check the missing character's introduction before repeating unrelated world content.
Do not assume a rune that looks attractive for one specialization is universally best. Review current class recommendations after a talent or balance update. This overview explains the system, rather than giving one damage ranking for every role.
Sporefall and Rotmire
Sporefall is a one-boss raid in Harandar featuring the fungal giant Rotmire. It offers Raid Finder, Normal, Heroic and Mythic; its distinctive Mythic Flex format allows 15-25 players. That flexibility applies to this raid and should not be read as a universal change to every Mythic raid.
Original loot levels
The following table records the Season 1 Sporefused drops associated with the raid's release. It is not a recommendation to replace current-season equipment solely because the old item level looks high.
Difficulty | Original item level |
Raid Finder | 259 |
Normal | 272 |
Heroic | 285 |
Mythic | 298 |
The raid guide does not list tier-set armor or weapons among these drops. Choose a difficulty according to the group you can assemble, then check the individual item's usefulness. One boss does not make an encounter automatically trivial, and this overview is not a substitute for its mechanic-specific strategy.
Luminous Sporeglider
The mount requires four Delicious Sporesnacks. A snack can be earned once per week per account by defeating Rotmire on any difficulty. This is an account-level weekly collection condition, not an unlimited per-character farm; repeatedly clearing the boss in the same week does not compress the requirement into one evening.
Record progress before inviting friends for another clear. A collection run can still be worthwhile for appearances or company, but agree on the purpose so nobody expects another weekly snack that is no longer available.
Ritual Sites and outdoor rewards
Patch 12.0.7 introduced Tier 6 Ritual Sites, requiring six selected challenges. The release recommendation was item level 274. Blizzard's release notes listed five Mythic Dawncrests and ten Heroic Dawncrests on completion, with the same Heroic 4/6 weekly vault reward as Tier 5.
These figures describe the launch version. Season 2 updated Ritual Site rewards, changed the Tier 6 recommended item level to 275 and removed the bonus-roll reward from the Advanced Ritual Studies quests while retaining the achievement objectives. Do not carry the old weekly bonus-roll plan forward unchanged.
The release also added slot-specific Heroic caches for 750 Field Accolades and Warbound Champion caches for 100. Those were Season 1 offerings: later notes removed the old caches and introduced Season 2 alternatives. Read the current vendor tooltip before buying; matching the old price is not enough to establish the current reward track.
Dragonflight Timewalking and Turbulent Timeways
Dragonflight joined Timewalking with Algeth'ar Academy, Halls of Infusion, Neltharus, Ruby Life Pools, The Azure Vault and Brackenhide Hollow. Xydan, the event vendor, is in Valdrakken's Bronze Enclave. The recurring dungeon event and the summer Turbulent Timeways campaign are related, but they are not the same availability promise.
The June 30-August 11 series ran for six weeks, starting and ending with Dragonflight. Between them were Battle for Azeroth, Shadowlands, Classic and The Burning Crusade weeks. Its announced period has ended as of this guide's check date.
The official event article describes Master of the Turbulent Timeways V as requiring Mastery of the Timeways in any four weeks for Spawn of Vyranoth. Older previews may show different requirements. Do not use those previews to promise that the summer achievement can still be completed outside its event window.
Story, smaller activities and practical changes
Lorewalking with Assistant Lorewalker Li Li explores the loa and the histories of several troll peoples. A separate activity helps Loa Speaker Brek with Jan'alai's eggs. The Zul'jan chapter, released in the week of July 7, follows the Amani representative and Kinduru into a mystery connected with the Amani legacy.
Darkspear Dash was introduced as a micro-holiday inspired by Running of the Trolls, with a route from Echo Isles to Silvermoon. Treat it as calendar content rather than a permanently available progression system.
Housing gained outdoor lighting, more common vendor decor and higher exterior limits: 300 for house levels 5-6 and 350 from level 7 in the release notes. Equipment stopped losing durability from ordinary combat events such as attacking or blocking. That change does not say all causes of durability loss were removed.
The interface received additional options for damage meters, the personal resource display and boss-timeline text placement. Review the settings you actually use rather than rebuilding your entire interface simply because an update adds more controls.
A sensible order for returning players

A short plan for revisiting the update
Start with access quests and the Folio if they are unfinished. Next choose a concrete goal: story, collection, outdoor practice or a raid clear. Finally check the current reward and calendar before committing to a long weekly routine.
This order prevents two common problems: following a dated launch checklist as if every event were active, and farming an old reward for a current-season equipment gap it cannot solve.
Frequently asked questions
Was 12.0.7 a new season?
No. Revelations expanded Season 1. Later Season 2 changes are identified separately here.
Does Omnium Folio replace an equipped item?
No. It is a separate rune progression system without a gear-slot requirement.
Can I visit Val and Naigtal whenever I want?
The Showdown destination rotates weekly. Complete the introduction and check the active destination.
Is the summer Turbulent Timeways still running?
Its announced window ended August 11, 2026. Check the calendar for subsequent Timewalking events; do not reuse the summer schedule as the current one.
