WoW Midnight Void Assaults: Events, Vendors and Rewards
Void Assaults are WoW Midnight world events introduced in Patch 12.0.5. Small Void Strikes build shared progress toward a larger Void Incursion, where players defend the area and confront the enemy commander. The system offers outdoor currency, collection progress and a short-session activity without needing a permanent group.
This guide was checked on October 16, 2026 for Season 2 and Patch 12.1.5. The basic event loop remains useful, but Season 1 rewards should not be carried forward unchanged. Vendor equipment now uses different tracks; the original promise of Champion and Hero purchases is not a current gearing recommendation.
Format | What it involves |
Void Strike | A small event in the active zone; another begins after it ends |
Void Incursion | A larger, multi-stage attack unlocked by shared progress |
Ritual Sites | Separate instances for 1-5 players using the same reward currency, not the final stage of every Incursion |
Where to go and how to start
The active zone rotates weekly between Eversong Woods and Zul'Aman. The individual Strike moves around within that zone. Weekly zone rotation and the relocation of each small event are therefore different things. Open the map, locate the current objective and check Incursion progress before travelling.
The introduction begins with Ranger Captain Lilatha in Silvermoon City. Her Void Strike quest asks you to investigate and complete a Strike. Find her around /way #2393 48.1 49.7 on the Bazaar's upper level. The same hub contains vendors and other quests connected with the system.
After the introduction, collect the available weekly quest for the active zone. It asks you to disrupt five Strikes and awards a Ranger's Cache. That is different from the Field Pouch awarded by an individual Strike: the rewards serve related purposes, but the containers and their triggers are distinct.
For a first visit, take the quest, finish one marked Strike and confirm that it counted before continuing. This catches a missed introduction or the wrong tracked quest sooner than discovering the issue after a long session.
Void Strikes and shared progress
One Strike is marked at a time in the active zone. Follow its objectives, participate in the final fight and then check the map again. The next event begins elsewhere. Killing arbitrary nearby enemies does not necessarily replace the objective currently displayed by the event.
Completed Strikes advance the shared Incursion bar. This is not a personal meter that one character must fill alone; other participants contribute too. Your own completion count therefore cannot reliably predict the remaining wait. Use the actual map percentage instead.
If the bar is almost full and you have time, staying for the larger encounter can make sense. A short session can instead end after the weekly quest or a chosen number of Strikes. Neither plan needs a promised currency-per-hour figure: participation, objectives and travel all affect the pace.

What happens during a Void Incursion?
An Incursion starts after enough Strikes have been completed. Blizzard identifies gathering points at Silvermoon's gates in Eversong Woods and Speaker's Rest in Zul'Aman. Follow the active event marker rather than simply returning to last week's location.
There is a two-minute preparation period for defenses. Enemy waves follow, then objectives at nearby locations and a final confrontation with the Void Imperator. Supporting tasks can include closing portals, clearing invaders and cleansing Void-infected wildlife. This is a sequence of changing objectives, not an instruction to wait at one position until the commander arrives.
Keep watching the scenario tracker. If the initial waves have ended but the boss has not appeared, look for unfinished nearby objectives. Helping complete those is more useful than fighting enemies that do not move the stage forward. During crowded combat, move out of dangerous areas and stay alive to participate in the finish.
The final encounter awards a Field Satchel. Once the Incursion ends, progress resets and Strikes begin building the next one. That rule does not establish a fixed hourly timetable.
Understand the different reward channels
Event loot, the weekly quest, currency purchases and the Great Vault are separate rewards. Incursions contribute to the Vault's World row, but that does not mean receiving an immediate Vault item after every fight. Check credit and the displayed reward in the interface; an old Season 1 item-level figure is not a present-day guarantee.
Resource or container | What it is for |
Field Accolade | The main currency for purchases connected with these activities |
Dark Particle | Enemy drops; exchange 100 for a pouch containing 10 Field Accolades |
Voidlight Marl | A separate currency used in collection purchases, not a replacement for Field Accolades |
Field Pouch / Field Satchel | Openable rewards from a Strike / Incursion, not names for the currency |
Ritual Sites also award Field Accolades. They can join a currency plan if you enjoy solo instances or a small group. Completing one is not a prerequisite every time you want to join an outdoor Incursion, however. These activities share an economy rather than forming one compulsory route.

Vendors and Season 2 equipment
Find the vendors on the Bazaar's upper level in Silvermoon, around /way #2393 48.3 49.6. Decide whether the next purchase is for character power, an appearance or a collection unlock. Each goal has different conditions.
Vendor | Main role |
Maren Silverwing | Loot-specialization equipment and particle exchange |
Triam Dawnsetter | Armor and weapon appearance caches |
Sergeant Vornin | Mounts and pets with unlock requirements |
Season 2 replaced the original Champion and Hero offerings with Adventurer and Veteran gear. Her stock includes random equipment and more expensive selected-slot options. Compare the tooltip with your equipped item rather than judging the cache only by its price.
Maren purchase | Field Accolade cost |
Warbound Adventurer equipment for a selected slot | 100 |
Random Veteran equipment | 500 |
Veteran equipment for a selected slot | 750 |
Choosing a slot does not necessarily mean selecting a named item with your preferred secondary stats. The Warbound Adventurer version can help another character, while Veteran gear does not share that transfer property. Check the intended recipient's restrictions before spending. Random equipment is easier to justify when several slots need improvement than when only one specific replacement would help.
Appearance caches: random within the remaining collection
The main cosmetic rewards include purple recolors of the updated Tier 2 armor and weapons based on Sunwell Plateau models. These are appearances, not a current combat set that grants old Tier 2 bonuses. You buy the relevant type of cache.
Cosmetic cache | Price |
Armor for the chosen slot type | 5 Field Accolades and 150 Voidlight Marl |
Weapon | 10 Field Accolades and 200 Voidlight Marl |
The cache awards an uncollected appearance of that type. It still does not become a direct purchase of your preferred class-themed model. Open the reward and learn the available appearance before buying the next cache. That makes collection progress easier to follow and avoids confusing protection against already collected appearances with a guarantee of one desired model.
Do not automatically convert every Dark Particle into currency. Triam also sells themed weapon pouches for particles. If appearances are the goal, compare those purchases before exchanging the entire supply for Field Accolades.
Unbound Manawyrm and achievement planning
Sergeant Vornin sells the Unbound Manawyrm for 6000 Voidlight Marl. Its current item card lists Void Response Team and Ritual Site Disruptor. Plan for both achievement branches and check the actual vendor requirement rather than assuming outdoor attacks alone finish the unlock.
Goal | Check before committing time |
Unbound Manawyrm | Both listed achievements and enough Marl |
Void Response Team | Missing outdoor criteria across both zones |
Ritual Site Disruptor | Separate Ritual Site achievement progress |
Cappy | Vornin's Cosmic Exterminator requirement |
The early official overview listed only the outdoor achievement, and individual player reports differ from the item card. This guide uses the full condition shown by the database and the newer specialist reward list for planning. Verify the purchase with Vornin before the final step; a report from another character is not a universal unlock rule.
Track the missing criterion rather than only the currency total. If the remaining requirement belongs to the other zone or to Ritual Sites, repeating the current Strike indefinitely will not finish that collection objective.

A practical session plan
Start with the map and the active zone's quest. Collect rewards while completing the five Strikes, keeping an eye on the shared bar. Then decide whether to stay for an Incursion based on its progress and your available time. Back in the city, turn in quests and open containers before reviewing currency and purchases.
For a new character, prioritize a useful weak-slot upgrade. For a collector, review missing appearances and achievement requirements. For the weekly reward, check the Great Vault's World row separately. You can combine these goals, but one container does not automatically complete all three.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a permanent group?
No. You can join Strikes outdoors. A larger Incursion needs other participants, but it does not require a separate permanent raid roster.
Why has the Incursion not started?
Its trigger is shared Strike progress. Check the map and current stage rather than your personal completion count.
Can I unlock the Manawyrm just by saving currency?
No. The item card also lists achievement requirements. Currency and purchase eligibility are separate tasks.
Is the old 500-currency Hero purchase still current?
No. In Season 2, that price buys random Veteran equipment. Read the current purchase tooltip every time.
