WoW Midnight Zul'jarra's Forces Renown Guide: Reputation and Rewards
Zul'jarra's Forces is the Coiled Isle's main Renown faction in WoW Midnight. Its twenty ranks connect the island campaign with equipment quests, profession unlocks, exploration benefits and collection rewards. It is a separate reputation from the Amani Tribe, so check the faction name before committing a weekly reward or signing a contract.
The useful approach is to choose the next reward you want, clear unfinished story and exploration objectives, then use the available weekly activities to close the gap. Renown alone does not pay the quartermaster: keep a separate budget for purchases. This guide was checked on October 17, 2026 and covers the faction introduced in Curse of Ula'tek, including the current contract variants.
Unlock the faction and find the quartermaster
Follow the Curse of Ula'tek campaign, beginning with Return to Amani'Zar. Reputation starts accumulating during the Zul'Aman story before you land on the island. For accounts that have not started this campaign, the main Midnight campaign must first be completed on one character. Characters that had already begun the newer campaign can continue it.
What Lies Beyond the Fog takes you to the Coiled Isle. Complete the introduction rather than trying to replace it with an independent flight to the coast. The story establishes the hub and the activities that support later Renown progress.
Jan'sari the Watchful stands in northern Tokka's Landing. Use /way #2512 58.8 46.0 as a rounded approach coordinate. This is the surface map, not the underground Vaults map. Speak with her after reaching important ranks: a reward may require a conversation, a quest or a purchase before it becomes usable.
Each rank takes 2,500 reputation and progress is shared across the Warband. Starting at rank 1 with an empty progress bar, rank 20 therefore requires nineteen increases, or 47,500 reputation. Subtract the progress you already have when planning your next milestone. The Midnight section of the Shift-J interface shows the faction track and upcoming unlocks.
Build progress from different types of activity
A first-clear reward and a repeatable activity are different things. A rare can still drop useful loot after its reputation contribution has been exhausted. Likewise, a weekly quest being visible on another character does not establish that its faction reward can be collected again for the shared track.
Activity | How to use it |
Campaign and local side stories | Finish uncompleted chapters and quest chains before settling into repetition |
Lore objects and exploration | Combine discoveries with nearby quests; track what has already been collected |
Rare enemies | Count each rare's first reputation-bearing kill separately from later loot runs |
World Quests and Special Assignments | Check the active rewards and complete available faction objectives |
Curse Surges and Vaults activities | Join the relevant events; confirm objective completion and reward limits |
Bountiful Caches in Delves | Include them when they are part of your existing weekly progression |
Silvermoon dungeon weekly | Check Halduron Brightwing's quest; its faction choice is limited to one faction each week |
Choose activities that also serve another goal. A nearby World Quest plus an unfinished lore object is usually a more useful detour than waiting beside an already-cleared rare solely for Renown. That is a planning recommendation, not a measured reputation-per-hour ranking.

Choose a productive Renown session
An exploration pass through the ten lore objects
The ten objects count toward Student of Hissstory. A community report on the achievement records 250 reputation per object, or 2,500 for all ten before bonuses. Treat that as a one-time exploration contribution, not a daily circuit. The achievement tracker is useful for identifying missing discoveries.
These rounded locations use map #2512. Some objects are inside buildings or entrance chambers, so inspect the surrounding passage if the marker appears close but the object is hidden. The list is a checklist rather than a promised optimal flight route.
Lore object | Approximate coordinates |
Zandalari Logbook | 71.9 44.9 |
Survival Journals | 34.1 36.5 |
Forum Rules | 25.0 67.8 |
Profaned Plaque | 32.6 63.7, inside the entrance building |
Head Mason's Tablet | 42.4 65.0, inside the entrance building |
Message in a Bottle | 31.6 83.7 |
Amani Exile's Words | 57.4 80.3 |
Worn Tablet | 70.0 66.0 |
Oily Black Stone | 45.8 47.9 |
Abandoned Tablet | 50.7 68.4 |
Do not postpone every treasure search until the end of the track. Rank 3 opens additional chest types, while rank 9 adds Unfortunate Scout's Satchels. Revisit areas when those benefits become available, but distinguish these unlocks from a guarantee that every chest repeatedly awards reputation.
Weekly planning without duplicate expectations
Take the relevant weekly objectives before starting the activities they require. For a Vaults session, check Purging the Vaults and follow its requested event categories. For a dungeon session, inspect the faction selection before handing in the Silvermoon weekly. These choices prevent a completed activity from serving a different goal than the one you intended.
Then check World Quests, Special Assignments and available event objectives. Fit Delves into this routine if their caches and other rewards already matter to your character. You do not need to turn every possible source into a separate mandatory session.
When a reward appears to be missing, first inspect the shared reputation bar, the quest's completion status and the specific cache or event reward. Repeating an activity blindly is a poor way to diagnose whether you have reached a weekly or first-completion limit.
Use the right contract before World Quests
Contract: Zul'jarra's Forces is an Inscription item. Its two live variants grant 10 or 15 reputation per completed World Quest in Midnight zones. The benefit extends beyond the Coiled Isle and applies across the Warband. Only one Warband contract may be signed per week; do not treat another faction's contract as an additional stackable bonus.
Compare the actual item tooltip before buying. If you expect to complete forty eligible World Quests, the base contract contribution would be 400 or 600 reputation. The difference is 200, so weigh the higher-quality item's price against your likely activity. This is an arithmetic example, not a promise that forty quests are always available or that all bonuses stack.
Activate the contract before completing the quests you want it to cover. A character without Inscription can use a crafted item; rank 5 unlocks the technique for scribes rather than requiring every user to craft a personal copy. Older reports about the contract applying an Amani Tribe effect or failing to reach other Warband members describe bugs addressed by Blizzard, not intended faction rules.
All twenty Renown ranks at a glance
The table distinguishes purchase access, system benefits and rewards that need claiming. Exact equipment item levels can change with seasonal tuning; the Veteran and Champion upgrade tracks are more useful identifiers here.
Rank | Main unlocks |
1 | Zul'jarra's Forces track begins |
2 | Cloak of the Hash'ura purchase; Veteran wrist-armor quest |
3 | Camp decor; Cracked Canopic Jars, Venom-Clotted Baubles and Singing Shells become discoverable |
4 | First daily Curse Surge boss gains a chance to drop a Corrosive Soul |
5 | Profession recipes, contract technique and Ula'tek Snakehead Lure recipe |
6 | Profession knowledge tomes; claim the first Marl bounty |
7 | Further bags, pouch and weapon-rack decor |
8 | Corrosive Relic for one altar point; daily chance for Warbound Veteran gear from Surge bosses |
9 | Unfortunate Scout's Satchels; Champion wrist-armor quest |
10 | Tabard of the Hash'ura purchase; Du'gal's Spirit of Tok'jara questline |
11 | Three urn decorations |
12 | Snek'zali purchase; second Marl bounty |
13 | Idol of Ula'tek toy purchase |
14 | Corrosive Bijou for one altar point |
15 | Candles and ritual totem; Arsenal: Armaments of the Loa purchase |
16 | Shoulderguards of the Hash'ura purchase |
17 | Indigo Coiled Horror purchase |
18 | Relic decor, four armor ensembles and the third Marl bounty |
19 | Violet-Backed Skyfang purchase |
20 | Hash'ura of Zul'jarra title; Mantle of Nalorakk and Axe of the Amani purchases |
A daily chance is not a guaranteed reward. Rank 4 does not promise a Soul from every Surge, and rank 8 does not make every boss kill yield Veteran equipment. Check the relevant daily opportunity rather than assuming repeated kills create unlimited chances.
Equipment and altar progression
Return to Jan'sari at ranks 2 and 9 for the wrist-armor quests. Compare the resulting item with your current equipment before spending upgrade resources; a newly unlocked quest reward is not automatically an improvement to an already developed character.
At ranks 8 and 14, collect the Corrosive Relic and Corrosive Bijou and bring them to Er'inye for the Altar of Corrosion. Each supplies one Spirit Corrosion point. These are local progression rewards, separate from reputation, Voidlight Marl and Corrosive Souls used for Codex Gifts. Reaching the rank does not mean an unused item has already been converted into an allocated talent.
Three mounts, two acquisition methods
Spirit of Tok'jara is the rank-10 questline reward. Speak with Du'gal in the Vaults of Atal'Utek and begin Ancestral Gems. The rank opens the questline; it does not put the mount directly into your collection.
The other two faction mounts are purchases from Jan'sari. Their combined listed cost is 14,000 Voidlight Marl, so reserve that amount if collecting both is your main objective. Corrosive Coins from the Vaults are a different currency and cannot be substituted for this budget.

Plan purchases before spending Marl
Use this compact price list to set priorities. Prices are listed in Voidlight Marl unless another currency is named. Confirm the item and current vendor requirement when buying, especially for profession knowledge.
Purchase | Rank | Listed cost |
Cloak of the Hash'ura | 2 | 3,000 |
Tabard of the Hash'ura | 10 | 2,500 |
Snek'zali | 12 | 2,500 |
Idol of Ula'tek | 13 | 4,000 |
Arsenal: Armaments of the Loa | 15 | 5,000 |
Shoulderguards of the Hash'ura | 16 | 3,000 |
Indigo Coiled Horror | 17 | 6,000 |
Each armor ensemble | 18 | 5,000 |
Violet-Backed Skyfang | 19 | 8,000 |
Mantle of Nalorakk / Axe of the Amani | 20 | 5,000 each |
The four ensembles are cloth Vestments of Jan'alai's Chosen, leather Battlegear of Halazzi's Chosen, mail Chainmail of Akil'zon's Chosen and plate Warplate of Nalorakk's Chosen. Buying all four costs 20,000 Marl. Combined with both vendor mounts, that is 34,000 before individual weapon or shoulder appearances. Select the sets you actually want instead of treating rank 18 as a requirement to buy everything.
Housing decor arrives in batches at ranks 3, 7, 11, 15 and 18. Individual pieces in the listed batches cost 150 or 250 Marl. An inexpensive decoration can still delay a larger purchase when bought repeatedly, so keep a collection list rather than spending automatically at every vendor visit.
Profession recipes and knowledge
Rank 5 opens recipes across several professions. Examples include Concentrated Silvermoon Health Potion, Rite of the Hash'ey, Vantus Rune: Tides, the faction contract and Coiled Amani Hookshot. Most listed specialist recipes cost 150 of the relevant Artisan Moxie. Loa's Gathering and the Ula'tek Snakehead Lure recipes instead cost 1,500 Marl each.
Rank 6 opens knowledge tomes, listed at 750 Marl plus 75 or 150 of the appropriate Artisan Moxie depending on profession. Check the exact book and your current professions before paying. Unlocking a recipe, learning it and having enough materials to craft its product are three separate steps; Renown only resolves the access requirement.
After rank 20 and common questions
Reputation can continue filling a Paragon reward bar after the normal track ends. Check the current bar and claimable reward at the quartermaster. There is no additional normal rank to unlock beyond 20, and a Paragon goal need not take priority over unfinished equipment or profession tasks elsewhere.
Should every character repeat the same discoveries?
The Renown track is shared. Choose characters for convenience or other rewards, but do not budget a second complete set of one-time reputation simply because you changed characters. Check the Warband's existing progress first.
Can I complete the track in a fixed number of days?
That depends on your current rank, unfinished story and exploration, available objectives and weekly limits. Use the next reward as a manageable target. A guaranteed completion date or universal hourly rate would ignore those differences.
What should I do in a short session?
Check the next unlock, activate the appropriate contract if available, then complete a nearby faction objective and any unfinished discovery on the way. In a longer session, combine the relevant weekly quest with Vaults, dungeon or Delve progress. Revisit Jan'sari when you cross a useful rank so that earned access turns into a claimed reward.
