Welcome to our ultimate Diablo 4 Leveling Guide for 2024! By going through all sections, you will learn the best methods to level up quickly in Diablo IV, along with specific strategies for each class to maximize efficiency and reach the highest level in the shortest time possible.

Diablo 4 is an open-world ARPG with slow progression at higher levels, so a plethora of tips and tricks will help you level up swiftly early on and advance to the end game as soon as possible.

The story of Diablo 4 takes place in the Sanctuary, with the main villain being Lilith. The narrative focuses on her return to the human world, seeking revenge against the archangel Inarius. Throughout the campaign and other activities, you will engage in brutal fights against hordes of demons and powerful bosses.

Leveling up in D4 will be a long and grindy process, but we have you covered with this fast leveling guide.

In the following sections, we will explore the best leveling tips, most efficient strategies, best locations, details about all classes, new builds, and everything that will enhance your leveling experience in Diablo 4.

What is the Max Level in Diablo 4?

The maximum level you can achieve in Diablo 4 is 60. The game features multiple progression systems, meaning that simply reaching character level 60 won't suffice to complete every end-game activity. Follow our fast leveling guide to take advantage of all the details and abilities that can speed up your progression during the early stages of the game.

How Many Levels are in Diablo 4?

Diablo IV incorporates several level progression systems, but the primary ones are base level and paragon points.

  • Maximum Character Level: 60
  • Maximum Paragon Points: 328

What is the Maximum Character Level in Diablo 4?

The character level cap is 60. Upon reaching level 60, you will unlock the Paragon progression, which offers up to 328 paragon points that you must acquire to unlock your character's full potential.

How Long is the Diablo IV Campaign?

The Diablo IV campaign is extensive, comprising numerous acts and bosses, and typically takes 10-15 hours to complete and reach level 30-35. Our leveling guide focuses on minimizing the time you spend. By following our advice, you can complete the Diablo 4 campaign in approximately 8 hours.

Max Paragon Points in Diablo 4

The Paragon points cap in Diablo IV is 328, consisting of 1 point per "level", with an additional 28 points obtainable through the Renown system, Tenet of Akarat, and Altars of Lilith, which are time-consuming. Keep in mind that reaching higher levels requires more experience and additional grinding.

How Long Does it Take to Reach Level 60 in Diablo 4?

Reaching level 60 in Diablo IV poses a significant challenge for most casual players, potentially taking up to 30 hours. We are here to help you level up quickly by offering the best advice for a powerful leap.

Everyone aspires to build a powerful character with potent skills to dominate end-game content. Our powerleveling guide is designed to assist you in making the best decisions throughout your level-up journey.

Diablo 4 softcore leveling is less restrictive compared to hardcore leveling. You can revive every time you lose a fight, whereas hardcore players must start over each time they die, which can be frustrating because you lose all your progress and loot.

In the next section of our fast-leveling guide, we will discuss the best ways to level up until level 60 and the quickest way to go from 1 to 328 paragon points.

How to Level Up from 1 to 60 Fast in Diablo 4?

Step 1: Quickly complete the main story on any difficulty (this will bring you to level 25-30).

Step 2: Change the difficulty to Penitent or Expert and complete side activities.

Step 3: Complete as many Renown Objectives as you can (this will help you in the long run).

Step 4: Improve your build by adding Ancestral items.

Step 5: Unlock Torment difficulties.

Step 6: Keep farming Nightmare Dungeons, Kurast Undercity, and Infernal Hordes to obtain Ancestral items and earn XP until you reach level 60.

As a solo player, the best way to reach level 60 in D4 is to complete the main story on a lower difficulty, while skipping all cutscenes and dialogue to reach level 30.

After this, you can change the difficulty to Penitent and complete activities until you achieve character level 60. This is a straightforward process, and it should not be an issue for most players.

If you would like to skip this grind and jump straight to the end game, you can ask a higher-level friend to carry you through dungeons, or simply buy a Diablo 4 Powerleveling Service and let KBoosting handle everything for you.

In the next section, we will discuss the fastest method to level up the paragon to the maximum.

How to Level Up Your Paragon to 328 in Diablo 4?

Step 1: Complete your Renown progression until rank 4 in all zones.

Step 2: Compose a formidable build to unlock your character's potential.

Step 3: Start grinding activities like the Infernal Hordes or the ones that better suit your playstyle.

Step 4: Continue upgrading your build to maximize the amount of experience per hour.

Step 5: Have patience, as getting all the 328 Paragon Points will take a long time.

When it comes to leveling up from 1 to 328 Paragon Points in Diablo 4, there are numerous approaches and strategies to consider. Each player may have their preferred playstyle, and various methods can yield satisfactory results.

Through our tests, we have identified the most efficient way to reach Paragon level 328. In the following paragraphs, we will share our insights and guide you through the proven approach that guarantees optimal leveling results.

One of the most efficient methods for leveling up from 1 to 328 Paragon in Diablo 4 is farming Infernal Hordes. A very good piece of advice would be to go for the fastest world tier you can clear, instead of choosing the highest world tier you can complete.

In the next section, we will talk about the fastest way to level up your seasonal character in Diablo 4.

Diablo 4 Seasonal Leveling

In this section, we will delve into Seasonal Character Leveling, briefly explaining how leveling works for Seasonal Characters and highlighting the similarities it shares with Diablo 3's seasons.

In Diablo 4's Seasonal mode, every player embarks on a fresh start, with the option to skip the main story if it has already been completed with a previous character. This means you can jump straight into leveling your seasonal character through Seasonal zones or activities, just as you would with your alts.

As you begin your Seasonal Journey, certain elements of your Renown progression will carry over, ensuring a smoother experience. The Renown progress that you retain includes:

  • Skill Points & Paragon Points.
  • Potion Charges.
  • Map Zones you've already uncovered.
  • Waypoints you have found.
  • Altars of Lilith you have unlocked.

Seasonal vs Non-Seasonal Characters in Diablo 4

Differences between seasonal and non-seasonal characters in Diablo 4:

  • Non-Seasonal characters don't benefit from Season Blessings.
  • Seasonal characters can take advantage of Seasonal features and buffs.
  • Season Journey & Battle Pass progression will improve the whole Seasonal leveling experience.
  • The seasonal realm benefits from more content and occasional events.

Fastest way to Level up in Season 6 - Diablo 4

After playing the first Seasons of D4, we found the ultimate leveling strategy that works best for all player categories. Whether you are a solo player or want to take advantage of group play, you should focus on the following steps to ensure you level up your Seasonal Character fast in Diablo 4:

Step 1: Create a Seasonal character on Penitent difficulty and Skip the Campaign.

Step 2: Claim the Renown rewards in all zones.

Step 3: Pick a Leveling Build for your character and follow it. Check our Best Leveling Builds Guide.

Step 4: Complete the first chapters of the Seasonal Questline.

Step 5: As soon as you can, unlock and move on to a higher difficulty.

Step 6: Start competing in the Infernal Hordes.

Step 7: Choose an End-Game Build and complete it as fast as possible. Check our End-Game Builds Guide.

Step 8: Pay attention to the Seasonal Theme and take advantage of the buffs you can use for your build. (example: Vampiric Powers in Season 2, Seneschal Construct in Season 3, etc.)

Step 9: Don't forget to kill the World Bosses as they spawn.

Step 10: Farm for Ancestral Items and Legendary aspects to upgrade your build. Remember to temper your gear & insert gems. Reroll your stats and improve your build as much as you can.

Step 11: Maximize the benefits you obtain from the Seasonal mechanics to improve your character even further.

Step 12: Complete Infernal Hordes until you reach Level 60.

Best Seasonal Leveling Dungeons

Excitingly, the XP rate has changed yet again, so the amount of experience you receive gets a buff throughout the Season. Your leveling progress will be much faster. Players will be able to reach the End-Game quickly, explore the new features brought by the Season update, and create a dynamic gameplay environment.

XP Farming Speed Changes in the Hatred Rising Season

In Season 6 of Diablo 4, the leveling process is significantly faster. You'll earn more XP from killing monsters, making it quicker to reach level 60. To speed things up even more, you'll get even bigger XP bonuses for playing on higher difficulties, using Elixirs, and Seasonal Blessings. These bonuses will multiply together in the Season of the Hatred Rising.

In the endgame, you'll earn more XP by participating in Helltides and completing Grim Favors. Nightmare dungeons and Infernal Hordes allow you to teleport directly to their entrances. Additionally, activities on higher difficulty have higher mob density, making the overall leveling experience even faster.

In the following topic, we will approach the best ways to farm XP, the quickest methods to reach max lvl, the best areas, activities, and more.

What does Diablo 4 power leveling mean?

Diablo 4 Powerleveling is the process of getting your character to the maximum level as quickly as possible, using the best leveling methods & techniques, such as choosing the right world tiers, farming the activities that grant the most XP, and taking advantage of all XP rewards along your journey.

How to Powerlevel in Diablo 4?

  1. A High-Level player opens a play session on Penitent difficulty and you join the party.
  2. The new character stays back while the carrier clears the Pit to unlock Torment difficulty.
  3. After unlocking the Torment difficulties, the play session will move to the highest Torment difficulty the carrier can clear quickly.
  4. The new character should use an elixir and incense to maximize XP gain while also being on the lookout for seasonal blessings if the character is on the seasonal realm.
  5. The high-level player will clear Kurast Undercity or Infernal Hordes, ensuring that the chosen difficulty is the fastest possible.
  6. You will have to repeat the activity again with your carrier until you reach level 60 and paragon level 300.

In the list above, we have unlocked the secrets of Powerleveling in Diablo 4, revealing a comprehensive list of steps to catapult any character to maximum level. Whether you're seeking to rapidly level up an alt character or help a friend ascend to greatness, our proven powerleveling methods will guide you towards accelerated success.

What can you powerlevel in Diablo 4?

  • Character leveling 1-60.
  • Paragon points 1-300.
  • Renown leveling (Region Progress).
  • Glyph leveling to 100.

Can you powerlevel friends/alts in Diablo 4?

Yes, powerleveling friends and alts is a very efficient practice in Diablo 4. If you already have a powerful character that can carry other players, the leveling time will be way shorter. Group powerleveling is a perfect choice. On top of that, playing with others is way more fun.

If you don't have a max-level character yet, you can take advantage of a helping friend or a boosting service for an enhanced leap level. KBoosting is the best place to buy a Diablo 4 Powerleveling service.

Playing with friends is the most efficient way to level up quickly in Diablo 4. The game rewards additional experience for Co-Op. There are strategies you can take advantage of when playing with a group, for example:

  • Farming different locations at the same time.
  • Leeching XP when you are not playing. You can just stay AFK in a safe area, gaining experience when your friends are playing. You can do this in rotation so everyone will benefit.
  • Completing higher difficulty objectives as a team for more leveling effectiveness.

How to power level in Diablo 4?

The best way to power level your account in Diablo 4 is by asking a higher-level friend to carry you through the Pit and other activities, helping you discover new locations and earn Renown points to unlock all the XP rewards. You can always hire a booster to help you power level in D4 if your high-level friends are not available.

In the sections below, we will treat each step in your Diablo 4 leveling path so you will know what to do first and what is worth prioritizing during your level-up journey in Diablo IV.

Choose Higher World Tiers (difficulty levels)

Choosing the highest difficulty is not always the best practice for leveling up fast. You should select the difficulty that lets you progress without dying repeatedly. We recommend choosing a medium difficulty, such as Expert or even Penitent, for quicker progress through the story. If you play in a higher world tier, your XP buff is more significant, but the foes will be stronger, so prepare for tough fights.

The Fastest Way to Farm XP in Diablo 4

At first glance, the leveling process appears to be quite straightforward, but completing the campaign's quests won't provide you with enough XP to reach level 60. Additionally, Paragon levels require a significant amount of XP grinding, so you must choose the best leveling methods to gain progress quickly and avoid wasting time on low XP activities in weak areas.

Fastest Solo Leveling Method

In the following list, you will find the best path to follow for fast leveling as a solo player:

  1. Complete the seasonal quests.
  2. Compete in the Kurast Undercity repeatedly.
  3. Compete in the Infernal Hordes repeatedly.
  4. Complete all the Seasonal Events and World Events you find on the map.

Best Place to Level in Diablo 4

There are many places on the map where players decide to farm for XP, but overall, the best places to level up quickly in Diablo IV, aside from The Infernal Hordes and Kurast Undercity, are Nightmare Dungeons, especially the ones in the following list:

  • Blind Burrows
  • Light's Watch
  • Sarat's Lair
  • Sirocco Caverns
  • Akkhan's Grasp
  • Aldurwood

Best Leveling Areas

Besides Kurast Undercity and the Infernal Hordes, Nightmare Dungeons are the best areas to farm XP if you want to level up quickly. You can farm them repeatedly and earn huge amounts of XP from elites and hordes of mobs.

Other great areas where you can farm XP are the Strongholds. Besides their primary purpose, those places are full of monsters you can kill. There are a lot of Strongholds in D4 and their difficulty scales with your level. Besides the high amount of experience points that you get, by clearing the areas, some of them will turn into facilities you can use. Others turn into a zone event with a timer called The Gathering Legions.

The Strongholds we can find in Diablo 4 so far are:

  • Malnok
  • Nostrava
  • Kor Dragan
  • Qara Yisu
  • Temple of Rot
  • Onyx Watchtower
  • Crusaders' Monument
  • Eriman's Pyre
  • Vyeresz
  • Alcarnus
  • Altar of Ruin
  • Omath's Stronghold
  • Hope's Light
  • Moordaine Lodge
  • Tur Dulra

Note: Completing Strongholds and unlocking the Zone Event is a good way to speed up your leveling process, but the best way to farm XP so far is repeatedly completing dungeons.

Best Leveling Activities

As you already know, completing the main story is insufficient to reach the max level in Diablo IV. After finishing the campaign, you need a lot of filler XP to get to level 60. Upon completing the campaign on Normal, Hard, or Expert difficulty, you can expect to reach level 30-35, so you will need to reach 60 through dungeons and other activities to unlock Paragon.

Filler XP represents the additional experience points you need to level up after completing the main story quests. Filler XP can be achieved by completing various activities such as strongholds, dungeons, events, side quests, and unlocking other map sections.

How to Get Additional XP?

Regarding Filler XP sources, Blizzard has added a lot of exciting activities in the Sanctuary, so you have many leveling options available. Still, some grant more experience points than others, so we wrote our powerleveling guide to help you choose wisely and save as much time as possible.

Top 3 XP rewarding activities in Diablo 4:

  1. Kurast Undercity
  2. Infernal Hordes
  3. Seasonal/Local Events

Note: Before beginning any activity, prepare your character, upgrade your gear, and use potions to ensure you survive the waves of foes. At higher levels, these activities are more challenging than you expect.

Diablo 4 Leveling System and Top Power Leveling Tips

In the following section, we will discuss the Diablo 4 leveling system, along with the best power leveling tips & tricks to minimize the time you spend in the early game.

Diablo 4 Power Leveling Tips & Tricks

There is no magic shortcut that can help you level up quickly without grinding for XP in Diablo 4 if you play solo, but there are some tricks you can use to make the leveling process more efficient and gain more experience along the way.

We have designed a list of Diablo 4 Tips & Tricks for fast leveling:

  • Do every side quest that you come across while completing the main story. This will slow your campaign progress but will provide more XP and Renown progress.
  • Kill every monster that crosses your path.
  • Complete each dungeon you find while moving through the open world, but don't chase them. Just do the ones required for Aspects or Side Quests.
  • Playing multiplayer gets you more experience. You get a bonus XP if you are near other players, and if you are in a party, you get an even more significant bonus.
  • Join the orange-circle Local Events whenever you come across them.
  • Complete strongholds. They are a great source of XP, and those areas are full of monsters.
  • If you conquered the Kor Dragan stronghold, you can find a campfire there. Interacting with the fire gives you a stacking buff up to 15 times and helps you gain extra experience from enemies.
  • Avoid dying. You will lose time due to the cooldown time required for revive and monster health reset.
  • Don't mess around. The map is enormous. Go straightforward.
  • Use the mounts as much as possible.
  • Join other players when you meet them. Helping others grants additional XP, especially if you join a group. Diablo 4 is built specifically to encourage Co-Op. Don't be a lone wolf.
  • Killing higher-level monsters and elites grants more experience points than going for low-level enemies and minions.
  • Skip all the cinematics and dialogues.

Diablo IV Dungeons XP Farming Tricks

We would like to unveil the most optimal Dungeon for Powerleveling, but due to constant updates and modifications in the game, the amount of XP obtained from each Dungeon is subject to constant fluctuations. Blizzard applied this measure to encourage players to run each dungeon and not limit their gameplay experience to playing the same dungeon repeatedly.

Note: Completing Strongholds and unlocking the Zone Event is a good way to speed up your leveling process, but the best way to farm XP so far is repeatedly completing dungeons.

The difficulties available in Diablo 4 are:

  • World Tier 1 – Normal (the easiest)
  • World Tier 2 – Hard (accessible and rewarding)
  • World Tier 3 – Expert (best for starting)
  • World Tier 4 – Penitent (unlocked at level 50)
  • World Tier 1 – Torment I (unlocked after clearing Pit Tier 20)
  • World Tier 2 – Torment II (unlocked after clearing Pit Tier 35)
  • World Tier 3 – Torment III (unlocked after clearing Pit Tier 50)
  • World Tier 4 – Torment IV (unlocked after clearing Pit Tier 65)

On what difficulty should I level in Diablo 4?

A higher world tier grants more XP from mobs and activities, so we recommend choosing Expert difficulty instead of base difficulties (Normal or Hard).

The Penitent and Torment difficulties can be unlocked early, but the monsters' level and density will be way higher. From our experience in Diablo 4, the Expert difficulty is way more rewarding, and it's not that hard. With some practice, you will move through all activities lightning-fast if you pay attention to your build and choose the right skills, especially if you have already unlocked the Renown rewards on a previous character.

Does Diablo 4 difficulty scale with level?

Yes. The monsters' level will be higher as you level up, and they will be tougher, but you will be stronger, so there will not be a significant difference. Since the story progression is not necessary, the foes are accessible for you, no matter which zones you choose. The game is designed to be permissive.

Completing all quests in the main story

The main story is definitely the step you must begin your journey within Diablo 4, if you can't skip it yet. It is the base experience source in the early game, and we recommend focusing on the campaign first. If you have already completed the campaign on a previous character, we recommend using the skip campaign button when creating your new character.

Diablo 4 Story

The story of Diablo 4 is set 30 years after the events of Diablo 3. Sanctuary began its recovery after the defeat of the Prime Evil and Malthael (the Angel of Death) by the Nephalem, and the Black Soulstone was destroyed. However, a new threat disturbs the order in Sanctuary after a greedy group of thieves ventured into an ancient tomb in search of gold and knowledge. There, they encounter a pale mysterious man and release Lilith from the void.

Lilith, the daughter of Mephisto, Lord of Hatred, is now seeking revenge on her ex-lover, Inarius, the archangel who deserted the Eternal War between angels and demons. Lilith and Inarius together created Sanctuary and gave birth to a son, Rathma, the first Nephalem. You will have to follow in the footsteps of Lilith and complete specific objectives to uncover the true reasons behind her actions, understand Inarius's purposes, become stronger, and protect humanity in an open-world environment. The campaign is non-linear, allowing you to choose your own path in completing the Acts and even specific objectives.

There are 6 Acts in Diablo IV's main story, along with a short Prologue and Epilogue. The story takes up to 14 hours to finish. In the following list, you can find all the acts in Diablo 4's campaign:

  • Prologue - Wandering
  • Act 1 - A Cold and Iron Faith (1.5 hours)
  • Act 2 - The Knife Twists Again (2.5 hours)
  • Act 3 - The Making of Monsters (3 hours)
  • Act 4 - A Gathering Storm (30 minutes)
  • Act 5 - Secrets Bartered, Fates Sold (4.5 hours)
  • Act 6 - Dance of the Makers (1.5 hours)
  • Epilogue - From the Wound Spilled

Complete side quests

Side missions are a great source of XP in Diablo 4. You will find those missions in all locations, especially in villages. It's even better to complete most of them during your main story since they grant significant amounts of extra experience points. Most of them are simple tasks that don't take long, and the rewards are definitely worth the effort.

Finish Local Events (orange circle)

Local events are one of the best sources of XP in Diablo 4's open world. You can find these events randomly around the map, so we advise you to stop and complete them whenever you can. Local events are marked with an orange circle on your map, and once you join them you will have to defeat a couple of waves of demons, some elites and claim the treasure. Be aware that some orange events are time-gated, so you must move quickly and beat the timer to get the rewards.

Be aware that some orange events are time-gated, so you must move quickly and beat the timer to get the rewards.

To complete local events, you have to follow the path. The local event types in Diablo 4 are:

  • Obelisk of the Ancients - stand on the pressure plates.
  • Besieged Caravan - survive an ambush and rescue the Caravan.
  • Battle Altar - survive an attack and collect 30 enemy souls.
  • Cursed Hatchery - protect villagers.
  • Desecrated Ground - kill all channelers to stop the ritual and destroy the construct.
  • Slaughter the Insatiable - survive a ritual and prevent demons from getting souls.
  • Wave of Darkness - defeat 5 enemy waves in 1 minute.
  • Stubborn Soul - kill demons in the area and escort the Stubborn Soul.
  • Eradicate Evil - defeat the Elite while the timer still has 1 minute left.
  • Assert Yourself - defeat 5 enemy waves protecting the Adventurer.
  • Liberation - free the prisoners and kill the Elite while the timer has 1 minute left.
  • Destroy the Pictures - destroy 3 structures and kill the Elite while there are 60 seconds left on the timer.

Besides the high amount of XP that you get from these orange events, there are unique rewards at the end, so if you are brave enough to finish local events, you will claim a treasure that contains stunning loot and a special currency called Murmuring Obols. You can use this currency to purchase mysterious items from the Curiosity trader, which will speed-up your leveling journey further.

Complete Dungeons

Dungeons are a great place where you can farm XP and level up fast in Diablo 4. These activities are spread around the map and contain massive numbers of enemies. You have to clear the way through the corridors and rooms until you reach the final boss. Dungeons can be completed in a group or solo.

Are Dungeons a good leveling method in D4?

Yes. Farming Dungeons is one of the best ways to level up in Diablo IV, so we recommend completing them as often as possible during your leveling process.

Join Events

There are 3 types of Events in Diablo 4, and as we mentioned above, these activities are one of the best XP sources in the game. The event types in Diablo 4 are:

  • Local Events (also known as World Events) - most common
  • Seasonal Events
  • Dungeon Events

As we previously talked about local events, our Diablo 4 Leveling guide will focus on the other two types of events available.

Seasonal Events change zones throughout the Sanctuary for a limited time, specifically during the whole season period, offering a new type of content for the players in the seasonal realm.

You may find Dungeon Events randomly while completing a dungeon if you are lucky enough. If you complete Dungeon Events in Diablo 4, you will get XP rewards and Gold, helping you progress faster.

Note: We recommend joining all events you find along the way, regardless of the event type. The amount of XP you get from these activities is great, and you may also get valuable gear. This practice will boost your leveling process.

Kill all the Demons you encounter

To speed up your leveling process, you must kill all the enemies you meet on your way to certain objectives on the map.

Monsters grant a decent amount of experience, so don't hesitate to fight them. Don't move along the map looking for monsters to kill; this is not the best leveling method.

Get Renown Points (Region Progress)

Finally, in this section, we are going to discuss the Renown system, also called Region Progress, and how it will affect your Diablo 4 Leveling process.

Renown is a great addition to Diablo IV's open-world environment, helping you reach maximum level quicker while completing side activities and exploring the map. Each activity you complete will earn you Renown Points that you can spend to claim bonuses such as XP Bonus, Gold, Skill Points, Potion Charges, Max Obol Capacity, Paragon Points, and more.

The Renown system is composed of 5 tiers, each with its own Renown requirement.
