Crota's End Raid Walkthrough
The Abyss – 1st Encounter
Objective:
Use the Chalice of Light to Enlighten Abyssal Lamps and navigate through the dark abyss while combating Hive enemies.
Mechanics Overview:
-
Chalice of Light:
- The Chalice charges over time or with kills by the holder.
- Once fully charged, the holder receives an Engulfed in Light debuff (10 seconds) that will kill them if not passed to a teammate.
- Passing the Chalice grants the previous holder the Enlightened buff, allowing them to Enlighten Abyssal Lamps.
-
Debuffs:
- Engulfed in Darkness: A 1-minute wipe timer for the entire team, reset when an Abyssal Lamp is Enlightened.
- Weight of Darkness: Stacks up to 10, gradually slowing movement. Cleared by Enlightening Lamps.
-
Lamps:
- Lamps must be manually Enlightened using the Enlightened buff.
- Lamps explode shortly after Enlightenment, dealing damage to nearby players.
-
Preservation Nodes:
- Located near certain Lamps. Used to dunk the Chalice, activate the next set of Lamps, or preserve the Chalice if the team does not currently need it.
Strategy:
- Rotate the Chalice efficiently between teammates to maintain Enlightened buffs.
- Use Preservation Nodes to activate the next set of Lamps when needed.
- Be cautious of the Lamp's explosion timer and plan movement carefully.
- Watch for Unstoppable Ogres at the encounter's end and defeat them swiftly.
Additional Tips:
- Stay near the Lamps until the Chalice is fully charged.
- Watch out for swinging pendulums that can knock players off paths.
- Build the Bridge™ at the end by standing on the plate and using Enlightened buffs to speed up its formation.
Crossing the Bridge Second Encounter
Objective:
Build the Bridge™, cross it using Hive swords, and defeat Gatekeepers and Hive enemies.
Mechanics Overview:
-
Plates and Totems:
- A central Bridge™ building plate and two Annihilator Totem plates must be continuously manned to prevent a wipe and build the Bridge™.
- Use Enlightened buffs on the Bridge™ plate to speed up construction.
-
Swordbearers:
- Spawn periodically. Kill them quickly and use their dropped swords to cross the Bridge™.
- Only players holding a sword or Chalice can cross the Bridge™.
-
Gatekeepers:
- Tanky Knights on the other side of the Bridge™. Must be defeated with Hive swords.
- Dunk swords into designated slots after killing Gatekeepers.
-
Final Wave:
- After all six players cross the Bridge™, five Gatekeepers will spawn simultaneously. Defeat them to complete the encounter.
Strategy:
- Rotate the Chalice to Enlighten players as needed.
- Use finishers on Swordbearers to preserve heavy ammo.
- Defeat Gatekeepers with swords and dunk them into slots.
- In the final wave, use Tractor Cannon and blinding grenades to manage Gatekeepers effectively.
Ir Yut, the Deathsinger – 3rd Encounter
Objective:
Defeat Ir Yût before she completes her Liturgy of Ruin and wipes the team.
Mechanics Overview:
-
Shieldsinger Wizards:
- Found in green-barriered towers. Only accessible with the Enlightened buff.
- Some rooms may have Shriekers instead of Wizards.
-
Dark Liturgy Timer:
- Starts after the first Wizard is killed or after taking too long.
- Your team must reach a damage threshold on Ir Yût before the timer ends to avoid a wipe.
-
DPS Phases:
- Max three DPS phases. More Wizards spawn after each phase (3 → 4 → 5).
Strategy:
- Enlighten 3 players to deal with Wizards simultaneously.
- Use Divinity for a larger hitbox on Ir Yût.
- Maximize DPS by coordinating heavy weapon usage.
- Utilize Cenotaph Mask on Warlocks to maintain heavy ammo economy.
Crota, Son of Oryx – Final Encounter
Objective:
Defeat Crota by removing his Overshield and executing coordinated DPS phases.
Mechanics Overview:
-
Chalice of Light:
- Rotate the Chalice until 5 players are Enlightened.
- Use Preservation Nodes to dunk the Chalice and reset the rotation.
-
Swordbearers and Hive Swords:
- Swordbearers spawn periodically. Defeat them to obtain Hive swords.
- Hive swords are required to remove Crota’s Overshield.
-
Oversoul Mechanic:
- A green orb appears when Oversoul activates. Must be destroyed by an Enlightened player within 30 seconds to avoid a wipe.
-
Final Stand:
- Crota kneels, performs a knockback AOE, and summons Oversoul.
- Deal enough damage during this phase to defeat Crota, or the team wipes.
Strategy:
-
Removing Overshield:
Use swords with combinations like Light → Heavy → Super to deal damage efficiently.
Buff with Tractor Cannon or Well of Radiance for optimal damage. -
Oversoul Management:
Destroy Oversoul as late as possible in the timer to maximize DPS phases. -
Final Stand:
Ensure Crota’s health is low enough before entering the phase. Use coordinated heavy weapon attacks to finish him.
Recommended Gear:

The Lament, Gjallarhorn, Tractor Cannon, Acrius, Forbearance. - Exotics:
Tactician-focused builds like Aeon Gauntlets or Cenotaph Mask for ammo economy.
