How Prophecies Work in Last Epoch and How to Unlock Them
Last Epoch Prophecy Guide
While joining an Item Faction in Last Epoch isn't essential for enjoying the game to its fullest, it does provide several benefits, especially when it comes to target farming gear suited to your class and playstyle. There are two factions to choose from: Circle of Fortune and Merchant's Guild. The Circle of Fortune is particularly intriguing, especially for new or casual players looking to make progress by slaying monsters, completing quests, and earning powerful gear. One of its key features is the Prophecy system, which unlocks loot target farming capabilities. Let’s dive in and break down this mechanic!
How Prophecies Work in Last Epoch
In Last Epoch, Prophecies offer short quests and conditions that unlock additional rewards in the endgame. Each Prophecy guarantees a specific type of reward, which we will explore in more detail below. The key aspect of Prophecies is that they allow you to target farm the gear necessary to increase your power level.
Each Prophecy has its own set of conditions, which can be divided into four main types:
- Monolith Timelines
- Dungeons
- Campaign
- Arena
How to Unlock Prophecies
To unlock Prophecies, you must first join the Circle of Fortune. While we have a full guide on how to do this, here’s a quick overview: progress through the main story until Act 9, visit Maj'elka, and speak with the faction introduction NPC at The Observatory.
Once you’re a member of the Circle of Fortune, you can earn Favor to purchase Prophecies using the four telescopes in The Observatory. You earn Favor by killing monsters and completing quests in the world. However, it’s important to note that Prophecies, which offer small objectives, are random. You’ll need to check each telescope to see what’s available.
Although Prophecies are random, you can get a general idea of the rewards you might receive, and Prophecy Lenses can help increase your odds. More on those later.
For now, here’s what’s available:
Constellation | Region | Rewards |
---|---|---|
Arctus | North | Helmet, Armor, Gloves, Boots |
Dysis | West | Idols, Runes, Keys |
Eos | East | One-Handed Weapons, Two-Handed Weapons, Off-Hand Items |
Mesembria | South | Rings, Amulets, Relics |
What Are Lenses?
As you progress through the ranks of the Circle of Fortune, you’ll unlock the ability to craft Lenses. These Lenses can be inserted into telescopes, affecting the overall reward drops and increasing the chances of specific Prophecies.
For example, if you're targeting Rings, you can craft a lens that increases the odds of Ring drops and insert it into the Mesembria Telescope in The Observatory.
Which Prophecies Are Best?
The challenge with selecting the "best" Prophecies in Last Epoch is that it's entirely subjective. What matters most is finding items that complement your specific build and class, which can vary greatly depending on whether you’re playing a Falconer or a Paladin.
That being said, it’s important to experiment and explore different Prophecies. Find the activities you enjoy, whether it’s progressing through the Campaign or winning rounds in the Arena. As you complete more Prophecies, you’ll notice that the rewards scale with the difficulty of the objectives and your character's level.
Generally, the "best" Prophecies are those that offer Rare or Unique Items. However, to unlock these high-end loot rewards, you’ll need to progress through the ranks of the Circle of Fortune up to Rank 8. At this level, you unlock a 25% chance for Rare Items to become Exalted Items, which applies to all previous bonuses.
