Vindicta

Vindicta is a powerful sniper with the ability to stay airborne and deal massive damage from a distance. With her unique skills like Assassinate and Crow Familiar, she can dominate both lanes and team fights. This guide focuses on optimizing her damage output and mobility to help you make the most out of Vindicta’s strengths and carry your team to victory.

Vindicta is the classic sniper of Deadlock, but instead of relying on a grappling hook, her signature movement ability allows her to take flight and levitate above the battlefield. Vindicta excels at picking off enemies from a distance and snowballing the game through her powerful Assassinate ability. By earning bonus Souls for every successful killing blow, she can quickly gain an advantage over her opponents and dominate the battlefield. If you enjoy high precision and the ability to outmaneuver your foes from above, Vindicta is the perfect choice for you.

Deadlock Vindicta Strengths and Weaknesses

Strengths:

  • Strong laning phase: Vindicta excels in the laning phase with reliable poke, snare, and vantage points provided by her Flight ability.

  • Built to snowball: With Assassinate, Vindicta is designed to gain rewards for successful kills, making it easy to snowball into a dominating position.

  • Can impact nearby lanes: Her ability to deal damage from afar allows her to extend the lead for the rest of her team, even without directly engaging.

Weaknesses:

  • Lacks horizontal mobility: While Vindicta is powerful in the air, she is very vulnerable when grounded and lacks the ability to quickly close gaps.

  • Can feel useless with a rough start: Vindicta heavily relies on her ability to snowball, so if she falls behind early, she may struggle to contribute.

  • Limited utility: Her crowd control is limited to her Stake, meaning her ability to control large teamfights is restricted.

Deadlock Vindicta Abilities

Stake (1)

Description image

Throw a stake that tethers enemies to the location where the stake lands. Enemy movement is restricted to the length of the tether.

  • Tether Duration: 1.75s

  • Damage: 60

  • Cooldown: 42s

  • Capture Radius: 8m

  • Tether Length: 8m

  • Movement Slow: 30%

Stake Upgrades

Level

Effect

1 AP

+0.5 Tether Duration

2 AP

-20s Cooldown

5 AP

Tethered enemies are disarmed

Maxing Stake grants it increased duration, lower cooldown, and adds a Disarm effect. This upgrade is particularly useful if you're behind, as it maximizes your utility and allows you to catch up in Souls.

Tips for Stake:

  • Unlike other skill shots like Lady Geist’s Essence Bomb or Paradox’s Pulse Grenade, Stake does NOT wrap around terrain like a sphere.

  • For the skill to connect, your target must have line of sight with the center of the skillshot when it lands.

Flight (2)

Description image

Leap into the air and fly. While in flight, your weapon deals bonus spirit damage.

  • Cast Time: 0.2s

  • Duration: 12s

  • Cooldown: 42s

  • Spirit Damage per Bullet: 10

Flight Upgrades

Level

Effect

1 AP

+50% base ammo while flying

2 AP

-15s cooldown, +8s flight duration

5 AP

+12 spirit damage per bullet

Maxing Flight lets you stay airborne longer, grants additional ammo, and increases spirit damage per bullet.

Tips for Flight:

Abuse Flight early on before the enemy team can buy counter items like Knockdown. Use the ability to get better angles on nearby lanes, secure picks, and start snowballing your lead.

Crow Familiar (3)

Description image

Your crow familiar deals impact damage and applies a bleed that deals damage based on the target's current health.

  • Damage: 40

  • Bleed Damage: 3%/sec (based on target’s current health)

  • Cooldown: 26s

  • Bullet Resist Reduction: -6%

  • Debuff Duration: 6s

Crow Familiar Upgrades

Level

Effect

1 AP

Crow ricochets up to 2 times toward other enemies within 15m

2 AP

-17s Cooldown

5 AP

+3% Bleed damage and suppresses healing by -40%

Maxing Crow Familiar gives it ricochet bounces, a lower cooldown, improved bleed, and healing suppression. It's reminiscent of Fiddlesticks's power!

Tips for Crow Familiar:

This may seem obvious for MOBA veterans, but for newer players, make sure to start your ability rotations with Crow Familiar since it deals damage based on the target's current health. By using it at the beginning of a fight, it will deal more damage to healthy targets.

Assassinate (4)

Description image

Use your scoped rifle to fire a powerful shot over long distances. The shot deals only partial damage until fully charged after 1 second of being scoped. It deals bonus damage to enemies with less than 50% health remaining. Landing the shot grants bonus Souls to your team as unsecured.

  • Charges: 2

  • Time Between Charges: 1.6s

  • Cooldown: 53s

  • Base Damage: 140

  • Bonus Damage: 145

  • Bonus Souls per Assassination: 250

  • Headshot Damage: +20%

Assassinate Upgrades

Level

Effect

1 AP

-20s Cooldown

2 AP

+140 Bonus Damage

5 AP

+600 Bonus Souls per Assassination

Maxing Assassinate is essential for snowballing quickly, as it significantly reduces the cooldown and increases both the bonus damage and Souls granted, making your killing blows more frequent and powerful.

Tips for Assassinate:

While the primary role of Assassinate is to execute enemies, it has a short enough cooldown that it can also be used for poke, helping you whittle down enemies to execute range. Plus, you have up to two charges, so feel free to use them wisely!

How to Counter Vindicta

  • Early Game: Vindicta is one of the two heroes that starts with only 2 Stamina (the other being McGinnis). Take advantage of this weakness by looking for opportunities to kill her early before she can snowball and become a bigger threat.

  • Respect Assassinate: Vindicta’s Assassinate is deadly. Don't get greedy by sticking around with low health, as she can finish you off from afar. Always respect the range and damage of this ability.

  • Ground Vindicta: When Vindicta is in the air, she is much harder to deal with. If you can keep her grounded, she loses a significant portion of her effectiveness. Make sure someone on your team has the tools to keep her from taking flight, reducing her mobility and impact.

Vindicta Build Overview

This simple Vindicta build combines the power of Spirit scaling on all her abilities with amazing gun DPS, on top of making great use of stacking Bullet Shield and Movement Speed for survivability.

Early Game

For starter items, High-Velocity Mag and Headshot Booster are excellent choices due to their Bullet Shield stat, even if you're not landing that many headshots. Additionally, don't underestimate your Crow Familiar for trading and securing last hits.

Extra Health and Extra Stamina provide much-needed survivability and mobility to endure the early game. Their purchase order is influenced by how quickly you acquire Extra Charge, which you should buy exactly when you unlock Assassinate (your ultimate).

After the latest patch, Vindicta can now dash during Flight, making Extra Stamina even more useful early on.

Mid Game

Enduring Speed is a must-buy, providing essential extra mobility for your Flight. The increased movement speed enhances your aiming precision, facilitates easier escapes from enemies, and boosts your roaming and farming capabilities.

If you're snowballing and dominating your lane, consider investing in the third level of Assassinate early to accumulate more souls and potentially carry the game single-handedly.

Quicksilver Reload is a valuable pickup for the current patch of Vindicta. Imbuing Crow Familiar allows you to unload all your ammo, deploy the crow, and immediately resume shooting, even while airborne.

While in Flight, your shots activate both Bullet Resist Shredder and Soul Shredder Bullets, eliminating the need to meet specific conditions for these effects.

Late Game

Burst Fire and Pristine Emblem are straightforward purchases that significantly enhance your DPS. After acquiring them, you should be able to melt targets and quickly finish them off with Assassinate.

Fortitude not only provides tankiness to help you survive but also offers increased movement speed. This allows you to be sneakier and even faster with your Flight.

Improved Burst amplifies your Assassinate execution capabilities. By this point in the game, your Spirit Damage can reach very high levels, so don't focus solely on shooting; your abilities are super effective too.

Superior Duration should imbue Crow Familiar. Having a higher debuff duration is great if you can consistently land them, but the other imbues aren't bad, especially if you really want a longer Flight duration.

Situational and Luxury Items

  • Toxic Bullets: An excellent choice if the enemy team has any form of healing. This is often the case, and since this build maximizes Crow Familiar last, it's strongly recommended to pick it up at some point in the game.

  • Slowing Hex: Offers great value for its cost. For only 1,250 Souls, you can stop an enemy and guarantee a kill or escape from certain death. It's a strongly recommended item if you have a good economy. Curse serves as the luxury version of this item.

  • Inhibitor and Silencer: More advanced and expensive ways of dealing with strong damage from enemies.

  • Glass Cannon and Escalating Resilience: Offensive picks. While Escalating Exposure is consistent, Glass Cannon is generally for games where you are snowballing a lot.
